spirit of individualism once and for all. our government spends too much money, we learned more about that this week. but perhaps more importantly, they work tirelessly each day to pry more freedoms away and tell us what we can do, how we can do it, and probably most concerning, why we should do it. in other words, they want to be our moral compass, our conscious, and our conviction. for most of us, this is really troubling because we already have that fundamental belief system. our sense of right and wrong was set years of learning and parenting and our experiences in faith. what we call in the south a raising. we were raised to have ethics and beliefs we hold but maybe that's not the case for an increasingly growing segment of our population. maybe more and more americans aren't getting necessary examples tra considerably set by their mothers and fathers make ping it easier for the state to step in and fill that role.

we know many left wing ideologues and organizations work to attack the traditional role of mom and dad in a family, black lives matter infamously had this concept stated in their charter until folks like us noticed it. we saw scenes this week of young men and teen-age boys ransacking a lululemon in georgia and viciously attacking marines in california. perhaps the most important question here is, where were their fathers? and look at the deranged school shooters we've had in the past decade. almost exclusively young men with a complete disregard for instant life. who is supposed to teach them right from wrong? how did they go so wrong? men specifically bring discipline and cons within to raising children and anyone with common sense can see our bodies are built to take the arrows. our parents geared towards reason, sacrifice, danger and stow sim. according to a group called the father hood project, father involvement using, quote,

authoritative parenting leads to, quote, better emotional academic, social and behavioral outcomes for children. additionally the group found kids that are close to their father are twice as likely to enter college find a stable employment than those who don't. kids with involved fathers are, quote, less likely to act out in school or engage in risky behavior in adolescence. these kids are more likely to do very well in school, too. and lower the frequency and delinquency among them. women, of course, with an equally valuable role show us true strength, virtue tempathy and the need to nurture. but it's the dads that have the opportunity to just not show up. and it's the dads who matter in this conversation. who can respect authority when the authority figure didn't respect them enough to be there? who can understand how to throttle their raw aggression when the masculine example

wasn't in their lives to prove it necessary. that's not to say women aren't amazing parents, we know that. but it does show how important the masculine example is to the development of children. listen, guys, men out there, i'm not telling you how to raise your kids. but let me be clear. raise your kids. a third of all kids growing up without their biological father present, that's nearly 25 million little boys and girls. understand myself we can conceive children in ways and times but once they are here they're our responsibility just as much as their mothers. this is not a burden. it's our most pry mall purpose. we have to pay taxes, we have to do chores. but we get to raise kids. this is a blessing and responsibility any man should could have et not lament. if strong men make easy times and weak men make hard times,

you know why? not because we had money or success, because i had a mom and dad that were there and a dad that disciplined me and taught me things i didn't understand until later in life then you chase career or go to the military or chase fame or money or whatever, and then you step back and go, i'm blessed in whatever situation i'm in to have these souls, four biological souls, three step -- i have a blended family, so it's not always easy and it's not always clear, but i have the ability as a man to shape their lives, their souls, who they are as men and women. and, frankly, most importantly to introduce them to their real father, their father in heaven so that he follow jesus commandment to love thigh lord with their heart and soul and mind and treat each other as you would tee yourself as jesus commanded us to do. but it takes a man to do that who understandings their own failures and their own flaws, what brought them to where they

are and take really, whether your kid's a professional athlete or a singer or digs ditches or is a teacher or a nurse, it doesn't matter. who are they inside. do they respect other people? are they humble? do they love? do they recognize the blessing of this country? that's my job. i don't get to control everything else when they leave my door, but i'm going to take them to church. i'm going to teach them discipline, i'm going to raise them as men, as boys, as masculine, as tough, as leaders, as fearless, then i'm going to teach them to be humble and kind to those less fortunate to their partners. that's the job of men. and when we give that up across the board, you see the fractures and we see them across our society right now. so i applaud you for raising this issue because we talk about politics all the time joey. we talk about policy. what can we do. no, no, no. it starts in the home. it starts at church, it starts what you do as a leader. so bravo.

them the freedom to figure out who they are, to make mistakes, to deal with consequences when they do make mistakes. because in doing so they learn from their mistakes, and they build resilience and learn to handle adversity. but there's been this trend for the last 20 years of what's called helicopter parenting where parents essentially hover around their kids all the time and they think they can prevent, you know, any bad feelings, any bad experiencing, any bad anything and it's not possible. we all face adversity in life and if we don't prepare our children to handle that, they will not be resilient adults. >> joey: it seems like, especially on the left there's this feeling you can't let your kids be exposed to ideas they don't like because you're afraid they're going to follow them but in my experience it is a all those conversations you have before they see those ideas or have those decisions, you puts tools in their toolbox so they will make the right decisions. >> yeah, i mean, that's the hope. in order to do that they have to actually sometimes make a poor

decision and learn from it. they have to know that, you know, life is full of hard knocks and people are going to say things you don't like and you'll be okay if you don't study you're going to get a bad grade and maybe you'll study harder next time. the parent should march into the school and demand the grade be changed. but this what is we're dealing with, you know, i think on the left primarily in large cities and sort of elite parent clusters, this helicopter parenting that protects the child from any adverse events. it's not possible. and you just will inevitably raise children that thinks every sideways glance is a grave social injustice. it's just, you know -- we're raising children to be adults that can't handle adversity. so i just like to give my kids the freedom to learn on their own. obviously with boundaries. some authoritarian parenting as you described in your setup. you know, they need to know if

from peta come together on something, and i like that, tell me what you've discovered on this and what you found out. >> you know, i think if i were somebody who wanted to for meant animals in a laboratory i'd move to a foreign country and i would apply for a grant to the nih and have americans pay for it because that's exactly what's going on. our national institutes of health is funding, in the last decade, more than $2 billion of research at foreign -- in foreign countries, including the cat experiment you talked about, and they're funding 180, specifically, contracts to conduct experiments on animals. and the thing is, there's no oversight for those. in fact when you put in your grant complication, you don't even really have to prove that what you say on the application is correct. >> joey: i consider myself a conservationist not just a hunter and i put money and time into the habitat and keeping big ag out of the way where animals naturally nest and rest and fly to. i understand and have empathy

for animals. when i see a cat on a treadmill that's kind of funny but that's probably not funny and light hearted, it's probably like you said torture. what are some of the other things that we know they're doing. >> peta has worked with local activists or local employees of a laboratory in columbia, in south america and exposed a facility that has had $17 million from the national institutes of health over a 20-year period and when we saw inside this facility what we saw was ram shackled filthy cages covered with a blue tarp in the jungle basically. we worked with local authorities there to rescue those animals, to shut down this laboratory. and yet nih has refused to say anything about it at all. they certainly haven't said this they cut off funding. so that's the kind of thing that we're seeing. we're seeing millions and millions of dollars go to facilities where they don't have to have any oversight they don't get inspections to make sure the animals are being cared for

properly and we're all paying for that. >> joey: i imagine they would say that this type of research leads to break throughs in nevin saves lives for animals and people. do you see any evidence of that? is that true? >> i think the evidence shows the opposite. most of the experimentation funded by national institutes of health is basic research. most of it involving animals and studies show that 90% of it leads nowhere in 20 years. there are no treatments for humans. now we certainly saw that in the russia experiment involving cats where they brain damaged the cats. and that was basic research. that wasn't meant to cure humans. the experiment in columbia at that laboratory we shut down, that was create a malaria vaccine. 20 years later we don't have a malaria vaccine. >> joey: of course. kathy with peta, thank you. we might not agree on everything but we definitely agree on this and i appreciate your advocacy on it. >> thanks so much. >> joey: joe biden tripped and fell on stage at the air force graduation today. it was embarrassing and quite honestly it was sad. the white house assured the

which are the sharks that followed certain ships back in the day and when they went down they happened to eat people. so there are a lot of species of shark there some of which are notorious for wanting to eat people. however the likelihood that he was killed by a shark is pretty slim because if he were to have been bitten and killed by a shark the shark wouldn't have eaten him completely that's not typically how sharks feed. they would have bitten on to him and the kid would have screamed and likely bled to death and they would have found him later. so i think the likely are chances are that he actually drowned. >> that's very interesting because you see in the video and this is tragic obviously, he swims away, he seems to start turning and swimming away, they're yelling at him. obviously these kids are probably drinking and nobody takes it seriously until he gets out of sight and they've seen no trace of him since. so the shark theory is they would have pulled him under water. i don't know much about sharks i try to stay away from them my solve. do you think that's an option or

do you think he drowned and they won't be able to find him. >> i think he's definitely intoxicated we both identified that. if a shark would have bitten him it's very unlikely they would have grabbed him and pulled him under water that's not really how sharks work. a shark that would have bitten him is a tiger shark or oceanic white tip, it would have taken a bite circled around and bitten one or two more times at the very most. so you would have heard screaming there would have been blood likely the decomposing body would have floated to the surface so i think it's more than likely this inebriated teen-ager got swept up in currents got too far from the boat and probably due to exhaustion ended up inhaling water and sunk, that's probably more likely than a shark attack. >> joey: don't jump off a ship you're not supposed to jump off of, don't do it while drinking those are obvious things. but let's go, we've had a lot of shark stories lately let's go to into people vacationing trying
