rachel campos duffy in for laura. check out the podcast i have with my husband sean duffy. how disney is destroying a girlhood experience. plus, we take fan questions. gutfeld is next. >> ashley: the senate passing a bill to raise the debt ceiling until 2025 just days before the u.s. could run out of money. 11 amendment bills failed after it passed the house on wednesday. you're watching "fox and friends first" on friday morning, i'm carley shimkus. >> todd: i'm todd piro, the senate approving late last night, final vote 63-36. 46 deem voted to pass the bill. president biden saying our work
1:01 am
is far from finished, this agreement is critical step forward and what can possible when we act in the best interest of our country. >> carley: fox news alert, former president donald trump discussing foreign policy to inflation during a town hall with sean hannity last night. >> todd: lucas tomlinson has more on 2024. hi, lucas. >> lucas: fox news town hall hosted by sean hannity. president trump talking about the u.s. economy. here are the highlights. >> i think it is the most serious time, we have nuclear weapons on lots of different areas, we have russia, north korea, iran will have one, that should have never happened. there is dual system of government, dual system, talk about law and order. you can't have law and order in a country with such corruption.
1:02 am
we were energy independent three years ago. what people don't know, we have liquid gold, it is gold, better than gold. inflation is a cancer to a country. we will stop inflation. the highest inflation in 52 years. >> lucas: trump's top challenger, ron desantis, in new hampshire. >> we are not happy with an economy that made it more difficult for working people just to make ends meet. we're not happy with administration trying to knee cap our ability to produce our own energy. we are not happy with weaponized bureaucracy that seems to go after people it doesn't like. if hunter were a republican he would be in jail by now and we know that is the case. >> lucas: president biden's tumble yesterday raised
1:03 am
questions, biden is oldest president in history. blaming a sandbag on the stage for his spill. former president trump holding commanding lead over desantis in latest fox news poll, leading by 30 points nationally and joe biden's numbers shaky among voters, top challenger, robert f. kennedy with 16 points. no plan for democratic debate. kennedy spoke about his numbers. >> if this is unsuccessful and joe biden is renominated by democrats as their standard bearer, will you support him in the general election next year? >> i expect to be nominated and i don't have a plan b. >> lucas: the gop primary about to get more crowded with the announcement of chris sununu, chris christie, former vice president mike pence and north dakota governor doug burgum. carley, welcome back. >> carley: thank you, good to be
1:04 am
back. good to see you. >> todd: alex holt, god bless you, jamill jackson, democratic voter and lydia is a former democrat, now republican voter. thanks for being here. alex, as a father of two six-year-olds whose message is swaying you the most? >> it's ron desantis for me right now. after having seen four years of both donald trump and five and a half years of ron desantis as governor down in florida, it is pretty obvious which is more effective of a leader. i think inflation is a huge issue. i don't see how he's not larger responsible for a lot of inflation we've seen during covid, the amount of money spent
1:05 am
by the federal government directly impacted and brought a lot of that inflation on. to me right now, it is ron desantis. i don't see that changing, but you never know. >> carley: lydia, ron desantis and donald trump have been sparring on the campaign trail this week, take a listen to some of that. >> you really need to ensure we have a two-term president to see that to conclusion. you do one term and reverse it when they come in, you can't have it reverse. >> when he says eight years, if it takes eight years, you don't want him as your president. >> carley: ron desantis said why didn't donald trump get it done during his four years in office previously? who do you think had the stronger argument there? >> they both had a really good argument. between the two men, i know ron desantis has really well spoken and does end up winning a lot of the arguments there.
1:06 am
i am truly split between both men. i think they would be great presidents and both have great qualities to both of them. >> todd: jamill, as democrat, what is your reaction to the sound bite carley played? >> i have to completely disagree. when we look at both of them talking to audiences, ron desantis is behind a podium, using flash cards, teleprompters, there is something you can't trust, he can't speak to a crowd, can't connect with us. talking about eight years, not four, it is like he's pandoring to donors and cares about what will get him elected in four more years. >> carley: jamill, president biden hasn't held a campaign event yet and was ask about that by peter doocy, here is how the president responded.
1:07 am
>> peter: mr. president, how is re-election campaign going? we haven't seen you on the campaign trail yet. >> president biden: you haven't? >> carley: the president walks away, saying, you haven't. how do you feel about that? no campaign events yet and dnc saying there will not be debates. >> i think it will be litmus test to how much can democratic voters take for the establishment to tell us to vote for joe biden, you don't have a choice. if we aren't able to speak up and voice our opinion, it will deteriorate the quality of democratic candidates over time. >> todd: lydia, basically the same question to you. there are pressing and important issues facing our country, are you worried the democratic candidate, current president of the united states will employ basement strategy 2.0, instead
1:08 am
of talking to you, the voters, about answers you need? >> absolutely, he should talk freely to the press, should be answ answering the public's questions. i was horrified to see him tripping on the stage. he makes us look weak as a country. i would like to not see prompter cards on who is asking questions. >> carley: polls show trump leading desantis by 33 points. most polling shows trump ahead by double digits. do you see, it is early in the campaign, do you foresee any candidates closing that gap and becoming a threat to the former president? >> i think if you look at the actions and behaviors of donald trump, you can see ron desantis is a clear threat. national polling this early in a
1:09 am
race, i don't think you can rest anything on that. yeah, the campaign just began. there is plenty of time left. the more people see and hear ron desantis, more they learn about things he's done in florida and more often you see donald trump. i think like me, i voted for donald trump. at this point, i'm tired of it and ready for something new or something younger. the two candidates in the last election were both nearly 80's, one is near 80 and i believe donald trump is pretty close. i'm 39, i'm ready for somebody that looks more like me to take a leadership position like the president now. >> carley: four more republicans are expected to enter the race next week, chris sununu, chris christie, mike pence and north dakota governor, as well, it is a crowded field about to get
1:10 am
more so. thank you all so much for joining us, we appreciate it. >> thank you. >> carley: dramatic body camera video from metro national police show the moment one of their own was shot after chasing a man in an airport area parking lot. >> show your hands now. stop right now. i already have you >> drop that gun. ugh. [shots fired] >> i'm hit. i'm hit. i'm hit in the ribs. >> carley: 33-year-old detective was named officer of the year just two days earlier. he remains in critical, but stable condition while recovering from the gunshot wound. the suspect is a 37-year-old, who later died after returning gunfire with swat officers. >> todd: president biden was
1:11 am
involved in a criminal bribery scheme, it comes after chair james comer threatened to hold the bureau and christopher wray in contempt of congress. t the document -- face contempt charges. comer and ink raing member jamie raskin will be briefed on the contents. >> carley: the witness behind the biden family corruption is breaking his silence. the former israelis defense colonel disappeared from cypress last month while awaiting extradition to the u.s. i have been arrested in cypress on politically motivated extradition request by the u.s., claiming i'm an arms dealer. i've never been an arms dealer.
1:12 am
doj is trying to bury me to protect, joe, jim and hunter biden. he could have information about an energy money that paid money to the biden family in march of 2019 and says his story could be corroborated by hunter biden's laptop. stick around for that. >> todd: looking forward to chatting with him. an expert shedding light on what may have happened to a louisiana teen who has gone missing after jumping into shark-infested waters. >> likelihood he was killed by a shark is slim. unlikely it would have grabbed him and pulled him under water. >> todd: bizarre story, the latest on the search for cameron robbins next. >> carley: more and more young

(chainsaw revs) (tree crashes)
1:17 am
(chainsaw continues) (daughter screams) let's pretend for a second that you didn't let down your entire family. what would that reality look like? well i guess i would've gotten us xfinity... and we'd have a better view. do you need mulch? what, we have a ton of mulch. >> carley: an expert is shedding light on what may have happened to louisiana teen cameron robbins after he jumped into
1:18 am
shark-infested water in the bahamas, never to be seen again. >> the likelihood he was killed by a shark is pretty slim. if he were bitten and killed by a shark, the shark wouldn't have eaten him completely, that is not how sharks feed. he was definitely intoxicated. if a shark had bitten him, it is unlikely it would have pulled him underwater. a shark likely to have bitten a kid like that is likely tiger shark or oceanic white tip. it would have let go, circled around and bitten once or two or three times, you would have heard screaming, blood, decomposing body would have floated to the surface. i think it is likely this teenager got swept up in currents, got too far from the boat and ended up inhaling water
1:19 am
and sunk, that is more likely. >> carley: social media went into -- showing a shark moving toward robbins as he swims away from a rescue raft. he was dared to jump overboard. he's been missing since may 24th, the search for him has been called off. every time i see his picture, read about this story, i cannot help buts think about his parents and how devastated. >> todd: they are having a memorial service. we both have the same reaction, we will lock our kids up and never let them do anything when you see something like this. it is frightening what should be the happiest moment of a young 18 year old's life and the ensuing party that usually follows is going to end up with this kid in all likelihood dead. that is a sad, sad situation,
1:20 am
but that video. >> carley: so much video footage of this situation, too. >> todd: to hear the shark expert disavow what twitter experts are saying. it is eye-opening, you see this and initial instinct to go to what you see in the movies, where the shark would take the kid and that would be the end of it. you hear the kids on the boat saying bye-bye. it is an odd reaction and i'm not insinuating anything, it is sad state of affairs, cal us ousness of people. >> carley: miracles happen, pray for one. baltimore parents are sounding the alarm to the school to grave pipeline. kids in the city are being set up to fail, there is 67% increase in youth homicide and 55% increase in youth shootings
1:21 am
since last may. there were 19 baltimore city public school students killed. baltimore father of two joins me now. giovanni, good morning to you. what is it like to be a young person living in baltimore today? >> right now, it is really tough. first, thank you for having me on. i like to say, i love my city. i love baltimore and i want to see all of baltimore succeed and all kids succeed. when you talk to a lot of children and kids, they want to feel safe when they go to school. their primary concern is not education, i want to learn or be a doctor, lawyer, teacher, whatever it may be. these kids are going to school and saying, i want to be safe. i want to be able to come home. >> carley: baltimore public schools held a memorial service
1:22 am
for the 19 killed over the last year, the youngest victim was eight years old. an eight year old is into toy trucks and dinosaurs and shouldn't be thinking about guns. what needs to happen to make things safer? >> back to all hands on deck. kids are becking for structure and order and discipline and it seems like everything around them is breaking down. a lot of parents, kids are coming from homes that may not have the best situation, whether it is drugs in the homes or parents aren't there. we as a community have to show there is a way you could succeed and stop coddling kids and setting expectations higher. we need school choice, parents get to choose where to send
1:23 am
their kids. baltimore is the only place a lot of families can send their children, those schools are not safe and not performing well. it comes down to all-hands-on-deck approach. the adults in the room have to provide order, structure and discipline for kids who are absolutely begging for it right now. >> carley: baltimore has lowest graduation rate across maryland in the school year. at one high school, 77% of students read at elementary or kindergarten level. thatten moos talking abouten 16, 17 and 18 year olds reading at a five-year-old level. the schools continue to get funding and taxpayer dollars and are failing the students they are serving. >> right. that is the basis of the lawsuit we filed against baltimore city public schools. we as taxpayers are sending our
1:24 am
hard-earned money to the school system and expecting better results. when we have things like false reporting of numbers, social promotion and grade changing. we're not setting our future and young people up for success in the real world. it is really setting our kids back and i for one, as with many others in baltimore, are tired of seeing it. >> carley: you started to home school one of your children, why did you make that decision? >> well, first off, you start to see what is going on with the curriculum and think about your child being safe around school. he is not school age just yet. we have completed a kindergarten curriculum. when you set your expectations higher for children, they tend to you can is seed. my four year old can read and do
1:25 am
math and knows numbers and shapes. it is amazing how the kids will raise up. >> carley: when it comes to violence, how do you feel about city leadership? brandon scott ran on a campaign to end gun violence, which is a complex issue when you think about the gang violence that takes place. do you see anything that could be happening to make things safer that is not happening now? >> it goes back to enforcing the laws that we have on the books. they have taken guns and essentially humanized guns, like guns are shooting themselves. when you talk to kids that are carrying gunning, they are carrying them because they want to protect themselves from the life on the streets and also when they go to schools, some kids are getting bullied. they reach out to teachers and say this is what is going on.
1:26 am
because the city schools has a suspension policy in which you can't suspend students without going through school board headquarters, kids do not feel like the system is protecting them. they take matters into their own hands. >> carley: so sad. thank you for joining us this morning. god bless you and your family. >> thank you. >> carley: all right. turning to this, fashion magazine is featuring a pregnant transgender man as the pride cover star. it has got everyone talking this morning. look at the cover there, we have reaction coming up next on that. >> todd: do you know where your tax dollars are going? nearly 2 mill went to food producers in china.
1:29 am
1:30 am

1:32 am
>> todd: back with a fox news alert. the chief of ai testing for the united states air force claiming ai drone simulation attacked and took out -- training it to air missile threat and the operator would say, yes, kill that threat. the system realized, they did identify the threat at times, the operator would tell it not to kill that threat, but got points by not killing that threat. it killed the operator because that person was keeping it from accomplishing its objective.
1:33 am
air force says it has not conducted any such drone simulation and the colonel's comments were taken out of context. now i'm reassured. >> carley: senator joni ernst says 1.3 billion has been given to china for research over the past knfive years. >> todd: department of agriculture school lunch program is designed to help american farmers. john boyd jr. is president of national black farmers association and joins us now. when you think of how gruelling practice, profession, lifestyle of farming is. what do you think when you see our government handing over money to our adversary in china? >> it's a real slap in the face here. you have american farmers losing
1:34 am
their farms here in the united states hand overfist. last year we lost 10,000 farms in the united states and this administration had done nothing, but give broken promises. we didn't get debt relief we were promised. right now we are losing farms in america and here this administration is giving money to chinese producers hand over fist. what does that say here at home? why not help american farmers first? that is what we've been asking for from this administration and the biden administration has failed american farmers in the united states. >> carley: that is a great question. when you think about how impacted farmers have been by inflation and gas prices, you
1:35 am
have to wonder what that money the government gave to china could have been used to help you and other american farmers. >> when you look at what china is doing, they are buying america's farms. when i spoke about farm foreclosures, it is operatives like chinese organizations that are purchasing farms right here in the united states. we can't go to china and buy their farms, but they can come to the united states and buy our farms and this administration is giving them resources to do these types of things, something is terribly wrong with this picture and we have to look at what is going on, the american farmer is you have issering with highest input cost we've had in america's history for farmers. we are struggling and managing to help countries like china and russia, america's biggest adversaries. >> todd: you did a great job
1:36 am
going into the micropart of this, broaden out to the macro. china and russia are beneficiaries of 1.3 billion with a b. when you think of the american farmer, the american farmer literally built this nation. on one hand, we are feeding our adversaries $1.3 billion, while giving the shaft to the american farmer who built our nation. what are you supposed to think about that? >> absolutely. it is the american farmer that built this country and something farmers can do here in the united states better than any farmer in tworld is produce soy beans. american farmers haven't had a raise in decades based on the markets, but we continue to produce good food for cheap.
1:37 am
we pay high cost of machinery, rates and diesel fuel and put costs we pay up front. farmers do it every year and we do it good. to have this administration slap us in the face by providing china and russia with 1.6 billion while we suffer at home and last week alone, we were in oklahoma trying to save a family farm there. farmers are losing our farms, when we lose farms, we lose history. there are family cemeteries on this land. we are losing farms to operatives like china. >> carley: i want to ask you about the 2024 presidential election. when messaging are you listening for that could garner your support? >> i tell you, i did come out and announce last week 120,000 members will not support the
1:38 am
biden re-election campaign based on the fact the president went back on his word to provide 5 billion to the nation's black and other farmers. we didn't get it, we didn't get farm foreclosures stopped. he didn't have a facetime meeting with me like he promised. broken promises. if you are running for president, call us up, we have 120,000 members. we are struggling and losing our farms and this administration is not doing anything to help stop it. that goes from senator schumer, representative clyburn, who has not helped american farmers in this country and we're here to say, we're tired of that and we need change and looking for someone who wants to help family
1:39 am
farms. >> carley: got to keep promises to keep your support. john boyd jr., thank you. target shares now hitting a three-year low following launch of lgbtq merchandise. as of yesterday, company shares are on track for tenth straight session of losses, hovering at 131 dollars per share, longest losing streak in 23 years. j.p. morgan downgrading the stock from overweight to neutral. meanwhile, a montana transgender lawmaker calling on corporations to stand with them, going on "the view" to say this. >> they don't want to see lgbtq people happy or thriving in stores, in our communities and will get angry at the site of us on a "sports illustrated" issue. if you are seeing a sliver of what it is like for lgbtq people who can't decide to our our
1:40 am
identities off, it is more important to make sure you stand alongside us on this. >> carley: several targets moved pride collection to the back of the store to avoid further backlash. "glamour" magazine is featuring a pregnant trans man as the cover. logan brown was born female, but now identifies as a man. >> i am a trans and i do exist. -- pregnant, but i'm your boyfriend, as well. >> carley: brown became pregnant by nonbinary drag performer while taking a break from -- that is how that story is shaping up. >> todd: try to view from your perspective and my wife's
1:41 am
perspective of childbirth. i view this from the lgbtq, from the l and g perspective, almost every single one of my l and g friends views what is going on and they don't like being grouped with this. they struggled for so many years to gain sense of equality and acknowledgement who they are as individuals and they feel this movement, this anti-biology movement is co-opting that and making it difficult for their voices to be heard. >> carley: i just remember last year there was an ad that featured for mother's day, a pregnant trans man on the ad for mother's day and a lot of moms were like, wait a second, interesting choice, to say the least. >> todd: being a mom is the most difficult job in the world, not trying to win points with you.
1:42 am
>> carley: being a parent. >> todd: being a dad is easier, i see what my wife has to go through. >> carley: 10 points to you. turning to this, owner of firearms academy in massachusetts is suing the state for only giving covid relief money to business owners for specific gender or sexual orientation, he'll share his story coming up. >> todd: former chicago mayor lori lightfoot will now be teaching at an ivy league institution and guess what subject? leadership. details next.

>> todd: welcome back. a former police officer and small business owner in massachusetts is suing the state after it refused to give him covid-19 relief money that was for lgbtq owners and other specific classes. the claims equal protection clause of the 14th amendment to the united states constitution forbids the government from
1:48 am
discriminating on such basis. mr. dalton brings this lawsuit to allow small businesses to compete for covid-19 relief grant and brian dalton is here, along with an attorney. thank you for being here. brian, how much would this grant help you after what covid lockdown did to your business? >> it would have been a god-send. this goes against everything the country was formed on. what we tell our students, this is the greatest country in the world for one reason, it is melting pot of all nations. that money was crucial during covid. how was it, i had to float the company on my own. i had to come up and pay everybody. i didn't defer rent where the academies were located, i didn't
1:49 am
do that, i paid that because i felt everyone was due their money. >> todd: to review, what happened, the government prevented you from making a living with covid lockdown and preventing you from getting this money based on traits you cannot control and will never be able to control. to your point, how is any of that american? >> it isn't. it goes against everything we stand for as a nation. it is blatantly unconstitutional. i find it odd because like it or not, now governor heely was attorney general and spends entire life protecting citizenry of the commonwealth and she did a great job and as governor, i hoped she would look our way.
1:50 am
i would be surprised if she was aware of this and would allow this to go down like this. i'm a straight white male and business owner, we are inclusive, we leave nobody behind, we stress this in class. to have this happen was a pretty good kick to me and us at the time. i can't see how it went through. all of it collided and i was able to find andrew from legal pacific and he's been incredible. we didn't think -- >> todd: let's bring andrew in. i can't get past this. we are seeing states enact literal day one law school obvious violations of the constitution. how are they getting away with it? >> they r getting away with it because they don't have heroes
1:51 am
like brian willing to stand up and challenge these things. the constitution avoids -- sex discrimination is invalid under the constitution, the government, including massachusetts, cannot treat individuals as mere components of race, sexual class or gender class, they have to treat us and mr. dalton as individuals. this is happening in different states and counties, providing grant fund, not entirely on need or merit, but on unconstitutional classifications like race and sex and it goes against everything we stand for as americans. >> todd: i sound like a broken record, andrew, you almost don't do cases like this in law school, there is nothing to discuss. you are discriminating based upon race, it cannot happen, you
1:52 am
move on. there is no method you see in law school, it is obvious. i don't understand what states are bringing clauses in the first place. do you think andrew, the supreme court will come in and say, this is wrong, we're shutting it down across all 50 states? >> we would welcome that, of course. we have the district court level first. these things are patently plainly unconstitutional. like i said, the different jurisdictions get away with this because they push the envelope unless someone pushes back. hard-working folks like brian are helping push back. >> todd: keep pushing back, again, the point is, this is unamerican and unconstitutional, not right. thank you for your time. carley. >> carley: former chicago mayor lori lightfoot has a brand new gig. she's leaving the crime-ridden
1:53 am
windy city for harvard, teaching health policy and leadership at the th chan school of public health. >> todd: did you say leadership? >> carley: yes, part of the cows. harvard defends their reason to hire lori lightfoot. from her declaration of structural racism to her innovative initiatives to bring mental health services to libraries and shelters. lori lightfoot says, i've always loved teaching, looking forward to sharing experiences i loved governoring through one of the most challenging times in american history. >> todd: like the mayor of chicago? >> carley: former mayor, she did not win re-election. >> todd: it is lori lightfoot. >> carley: fun news, deb shaw declared winner of the 2023

scripps, after nailing this word. >> psammoph ile. >> that is correct. [shots fired] >> i'm hit. i'm hit. i'm hit. >> carley: live in nashville with the details on the latest on the officer's condition. don't go anywhere.

** we planned well for retirement, but i wish we had more cash. you think those two have any idea? that they can sell their life insurance policy for cash? so they're basically sitting on a goldmine? i don't think they have a clue. that's crazy! well, not everyone knows coventry's helped thousands of people sell their policies for cash. even term policies. i can't believe they're just sitting up there! sitting on all this cash. if you own a life insurance policy of $100,000 or more, you can sell all or part of it to coventry. even a term policy. for cash, or a combination of cash and coverage, with no future premiums. someone needs to tell them, that they're sitting on a goldmine, and you have no idea! hey, guys! you're sitting on a goldmine! come on, guys! do you hear
