>> todd: a fox news alert. the u.s. air force responding to shocking comments from an official who claims an ai drone turned against its operator during a simulated training mission. you are watching "fox and friends first," i'm todd piro. >> carley: i'm carley shimkus. the air force says it has not conducted such training. this is a scary situation, saying the system started realizing, they did identify the threat, the operator would tell it not to kill that threat. what did it do?

it killed the operator. lucas tomlinson will break it down. lucas. >> lucas: that is right. good morning, todd and carley. chief of testing says this happened during a simulation that taught a drone to destroy missiles. they said it went wrong when the operator tried to take over the manual. the operator would say, yes, kill that threat. the system realized, they did identify the threat at times, the operator would tell it not to kill that threat. what did it do? it killed the operator because that person was keeping it from accomplishing its objective. sounds like the terminator. the air force says the department of air force has not conducted such exercises. security experts are still warning something like this could happen, claiming humans

have created disinformation and propaganda bots. center of ai safety adding this could be catastrophic to humans. >> many are concerned that ai in future and given it is progressing rapidly, could lead to human extinction or making society go more poorly. yes, it could lead to extinction. >> lucas: military officials are denying this took place, claiming the air force is committed to responsible use of ai. >> carley: basically the story is this military ai system wound up thinking it was smarter than the human operator, who the system was built to take down missiles when the human operator told it no, don't take down the air missiles, the ai drone identified the human as the

threat and then attacked the human, not actually killing this person, i believe this was simulation. the scary part, this could show this could happen in real life. the air force is saying none of this happened. who do you believe? >> lucas: pentagon officials for years have been saying this is why you need a human i being inside the kill system. the missile system was used during the u.s.-led invasion of iraq in 2003 and shot down two friendly aircraft and the patriot system was operated in autonomous mode. this happens in the financial community in 2010, that flash crash, officials say never start a flash war.

>> carley: maybe the situation did not happen, there have been scary ai incidents involving military in the past. >> todd: i admittedly don't understand ai fully or partially and i was never in the military. you have been in the pentagon working the beat for years and understand how military operates and checks and balances that go with regard to weapons. are you concerned that ai could take over our weapons systems, which are all in the pentagon, to do harm to our country, knowing the pentagon like you do? >> lucas: officials say you never want ai to get ahold of nuclear codes. going back to 1983, remember when the soviet union thought the u.s. had launched intercontinental nuclear strike on the soviet union, it took a soviet colonel to tell the

is live outside the hospital where that officer is being treated. sydney. >> good morning. as you were saying, we're outside off vanderbilt universiy hospital. the detective shot in this incident is here recovering. he is expected to be okay, after being shot in the side. take a look at this moment of this happening, body footage coming from the detective in the search. it all started when metro police responded to a call about an armed man breaking into cars in a parking lot at the international airport. the officer pulls out his taser and the suspect started shooting at the police officer and he shot back. take a listen to that moment. >> stop right now.

[shots fired] >> shots fired. >> i'm hit. i'm hit. i'm hit. hit in the ribs. the detective went to the front of the residential area and was transported to the hospital by another officer. as far as the suspect, this is him here. this is from metro police. this is the 37-year-old suspect, who we know is dead, he had a florida license on him. swat teams continued to search for him and found him in heavy brush in the residential area and shot him once again. he died at vanderbilt university hospital last night. the detective, seen on the screen, is a four-year-old

her attorney both join me now. teresa, i'll start with you. what happened to your daughter? give us the details. >> the other student attacked her. started punching her issue got her down to the ground, kicking her. another girl jumped in and tried to help my daughter and the student hit her twice, knocked her down issue left my daughter unconscious on the floor and ran out. >> carley: why did this happen? >> the student had stolen something from my daughter and my daughter was afraid of this student because the size difference and the student was threatening her. my daughter said, i don't want it back, leave me alone. the girl wanted to pay my daughter back and that is why she got mad. my daughter was like, i don't want your money, leave me alone and the student attacked her. >> carley: this happened october of last year.

how is your daughter doing now? >> she's recovered physically. emotionally, it is pretty traumatizing. it wasn't a regular fight, it was a beat down. >> carley: emotional wounds are difficult. greg, there is law in oklahoma that says students have to use the bathroom that matches the gender they were assigned to at birth and it looks like that didn't happen here. >> that is correct. governor stitt, enacted this law year to the day we filed our petition. it requires them to use the gender assigned on their birth certificate and edwin public school claiming there is no requirement for birth certificate to enroll in high school, even though partn

paperworkmanidates it. they didn't have a birth certificate on file fchl they don't have a birth certificate on file, they are not complying with oklahoma law. >> carley: the school district is responding to the situation and gave us a statement saying because this matter is in litigation, there is little that can be said. edmond public school are confident that the school complied with law and reacted in a reasonable manner and said they didn't know this student was a boy, they just enrolled a few days before the incident took place and the parents registered this student as a girl. what is your reaction to that? >> same as it was day of the fight. how did you not know, first of all. two, they knew.

the child had been in school a couple of weeks and had already this trouble. with other students and my daughter. i don't understand that statement. >> carley: go ahead. >> the week prior, friday before the fight, the male student was pulled out of the girl's bathroom and searched for weapons because he had made a threat against my client's daughter and my client's daughter told the vice principal the student was in fact a boy. they knew there was a chance it was a boy. the police report shows pate paternity -- identifying the student as a male. the school is lying, they didn't comply and i can't wait to get

ramp at west point. instead of applying same treatment to joe biden, we saw this was republican pounce moment, that everybody falls all the time. republicans are mean. they are making this a campaign issue. it is a campaign issue, polls came out. 70% of americans do not want joe biden to run for reelection. majority of democrats. when pollsters ask, why is that? because the guy is too old. i'm not saying 80 is too old. he issigeaing well. there was a sandbag there, everybody falls, but this has happened multiple times. look at his schedule, never anything on it outside of commencement speeches or a meeting with somebody. this is perception of this president and once you have that perception, it is impossible to put toothpaste back in the tube.
