>> lawrence: fox news alert, may jobs report released and it is higher than economists expectation of 190,000. unemployment rate inches up. joining us to break it down, brian brenberg. i got to ask the question. is this a good thing? does this put the u.s. in better position? what are you feeling? >> brian: good jobs number is good news for america, numbers can be revised, we will look in subsequent months. i want to see higher. the problem is this number is indication for how the federal reserve is doing and fighting inflation. they'll look at this number and wage gain number, just over 4%

and say, we're not making the progress we want to make, which means rates are going to continue to go up this year, that is another squeeze on consumers dealing with inflation, that is plateauing and now they want to borrow money to buy a home or car, they will see that rate go up. jobs good, but fight against inflation, long way to go and problem for the fed is the white house isn't helping, all the spending and regulation is not helping, the fed is beating its head against the wall and not making progress they want to make. >> lawrence: when i go out and talk to folks, they are saying we can't find workers. with this report, what type of people are being hired? >> brian: this report, in leisure and hospitality, they are always short of workers and they are hiring and several

hundred thousand short of what they need, that is where you are seeing hiring being driven. those are great, lower paying jobs. for people stuck in inflation, probably means they have to get a second job, as they get employed, they can't say aren't they happy about job and life prospects, i'm putting my life on the credit card and that is the big trend we're seeing. america living on plastic continues to get worse. >> lawrence: dangerous game. people are worried about inflation heading into the next election. depending 4.5, most people's wages are not keeping up because they ran out of pandemic savings they had, they are borrowing to pay for those things. the problem is interest rates on
