president trump right now a lot of people in iowa, voters i have talked to there in the ground thanks it is a two man race at this point for the talk about other candidates. they talk about tim scott, nikki haley and others. they feel it is a two man race at this point if you're bringing in former president mike pence that changes the game a little bit. he is pretty popular or a vice president polls pretty low right now but once he's in the reeds you may see that change will that take away from? a lot of people think pulling away from ron desantis thus making it harder for him to gain on president trump import the sting interest of any shot whatsoever to start cutting into president trump sleep. i do not think he will be helped by the entry of mike pence was very aligned with him politically. very conservative, pro-life. i think when christie gets in that is somebody to pull away from desantis i don't think christie will pull away from trump. in many ways it's a two man r

race. trump kind of stands alone on one site you have all these other candidates with desantis in the lead. the bigger field will probably benefit former president trump. arthel: let's break it down let them according to your sources is governor christie serious about a run for the white house receipt getting in the game to not former president trump off his game? >> it's really interesting. he's got good name recognition. he is considered he's a former governor's not super far to the right. in a general election matchup with friends and invited he might do better in some the swing states on abortion issue and some of things we need a more moderate stance as a republican. but within the primary system of course you tend to go out -- people suffer the carcasses for example tend to be more conservative. you get more of the base out. christie being in the race is truly a longshot candidate there is no question about that just given the polls were trumpeters and were desantis is there's not

a lot of room for chris christie to come in for the question is what is he there to do? you could help desantis by becoming more of a foil to trump. maybe trump will set his sights on governor christie incentive desantis where he is spending most of his time focusing most of his attacks right now. but i do not know. i think the president likes the big field he knows it helps them talk welcome tim scott into the race when he jumped in a few weeks ago. i have a feeling his real focus will remain on desantis and the big field with christie getting in is again something that will detract from the number two canon of course that is desantis right now. arthel: i would not be surprised if we sell a trump/scott party. former president pence as you said was the vice president to president trump. but will pence run on past record? or will he put forth a new policy agenda?

>> here's what he think he's going to do. he has done this pretty well so far he hasn't navigated the trump divide. he has done that pretty carefully but he will run on the record which she has always supported he has supported what happened in the trump administration over four years all the policies of border security, the economy, china, tariffs. of course the supreme court in the pro-life issues these are all positive things that conservatives can point to in the trump administration. as a very positive record i don't pence is going to run on this record. he will run as someone who help accomplish those goals. of course he is always already managed to navigate the fact president trump considers him disloyal in this upset with him over what happened after the election feeling he should not have certified the congressional certification of a president biden's victory. all that stuff for you is mentioned navigate that pretty well. i expect president trump to take a few shots at him as he former vice president getting in the race is going to be a big deal

even if his polling numbers are low right now it's a big deal on a vice president consider presidential race a special summit as conservative as he is he could resonate with islands where that's going to be very important first contest. so he is a little bit of a threat to the president. probably more so than anyone else in the field other than desantis in my opinion pickwick speaking of desantis how much of political gas is ron desantis have a question or if he does make it to the primary can he beat donald trump? >> he could. it's a variety of factors we are many months away what have we all learn? anything can happen who thought barack obama would beat hillary clinton back in 2007 that was said and that he became a two-term president. anything is possible. desantis is in double digits that is survivable territory. he makes it doing pretty well the first three contest you're super tuesday he has the opportunity to really make a good run of it against president
