4:00 pm
thanks for inviting us into your home tonight. that's it for this "special report," fair, balanced and still unafraid. "jesse watters primetime" starts right now and i think by now chris christie has said he is officially running for president of the united states. >> jesse: i think so. thank you very much, bret. >> bret: sure. >> jesse: we like options. walk down the grocery aisle, you have a hundred different brands of cereal. you can buy a car any shape, size, or color. you go to a diner you can get anything from pancakes to rig tony. we have a ton of option about every aspect of our lives except politics once you hit the general you are left with two candidates a democrat or a republican. if you don't like either, you are out of luck. what about a third party candidate? back in '92 ross perot got 20% of the vote third party
4:01 pm
candidate he cost bush the election. >> ross perot struck a cord with voters and shook up america's political landscape in the process. mobilized over 30 million voters to get him on the ballot and was the most successful third party candidate in u.s. history. >> jesse: a third party candidate can be deadly in the general. right now, half of americans say they would consider voting for a third party candidate if it's trump vs. biden: so there is an open lane and someone is sliding in. his name is cornell west. >> can these bleak times, i have decided to run for truth and justice which takes the form of running for president of the united states as a con democrat for people's party. >> cornell west a far left guy. there is an appetite on the left
4:02 pm
antiwar. bernie sanders abandon the people that voted for them once their party got in power. cornell people's party founded by one of bernie's old staffers. tried to recruit bernie-to-run in 2020. he thought he would have a better chance running as a democrat. he doesn't trust the democratic party. he remembers how they kneecapped bernie in 2016 and 2020. >> the establishment of the democratic party that we almost pulled off with brother bernie almost pete drops out. amy drops out. next thing you know they said anybody but bernie. why? those corporate interests were being challenged. those militaristic policies were being at least bernie gets quiet
4:03 pm
when there is a democrat in the white house. cornell doesn't. now we have to deal with the disaster of biden and harris and we have to be honest. >> milk toast because he still is tied to wreath and crimes of foreign policy. >> we know biden wouldn't be there. if it wasn't for the black vote. you didn't deliver for black people. you delivered for wall street. >> jesse: if you go up against the entire democratic machine, there's consequences. you will get smeared or maybe even worse. >> any time you embark on infallible pursuit of truth and justice, you focus on what you can do, how you can cultivate your own gifts and work with others in community in order to be a force for good. you're always going to be misunderstood, misconstrued. you will always be attacked. evidence kerik assassination may
4:04 pm
be a literal assassination, you just don't know. >> already took a bite out of biden's base. ran as a democrat pulling around 20%. that was before "primetime" officially uninvited him. now cornel is in the mix. can he suck up the far left democrats who were done with joe and there is a racial factor here, too. >> biden is bleeding black and hispanic voters. they thought they would be better off under biden and now they realize they are dead wrong. that's a huge opportunity for cornell. but he has an uphill battle. unlike ross perot cornel is not a billionaire buy household name. to get on the ballot cornel needs thousands of signatures across all 50 states. that means he needs to put together organized team with a strong ground game county people's party pull that off? we'll see. if there was ever a time to uproot the democratic party, it's now. joe biden is weak. >> we need a new president in
4:05 pm
2024. there has been time you looked at him and said i don't know. there are far far more expensive than the typical 9 to 5 that people in their 80's may not need to be doing i think the presidency is one of them. found the line that cuts to the heart of the race. >> let's be very clear. if they think it's going to be biden, a vote for president biden is actually a vote for president harris. we are running against kamala harris. make no bones about it, the "new york times" knows it, every liberal knows it. they know it's kamala harris that is going to be president of the united states if joe biden wins this election. >> we are running against kamala harris right there. that's brilliant framing by haley. it forces the democrats into a space that hurts them.
4:06 pm
they have to talk about his health and mental capacity and acknowledge that kamala is next in line and defend kamala harris' capabilities. this is incredibly awkward position for democrats to be in biden was asked with this today and she came up empty. >> she also said a vote for president biden is a vote for vice president kamala harris. what do you say to anyone who is questioning whether the president would survive a full four year term. >> i'm not going to comment on the 2024. she is a candidate. i want to be mindful here of the happen act. >> jesse: the lady he hired to communicate can't communicate and the lady he hired to be vice president canned be president. >> we have a crime and border crisis and now a possible third
4:07 pm
party candidate the biden-harris ticket has a lot of problems let's bring in kayleigh mcenany, former white house press secretary and co-host of "outnumbered." that is a brilliant line to say we are running against kamala harris do you expect we hear that evidence day from now to the next year and a half. >> without a doubt. joe biden is asking us to give him another term to become the oldest president in the united states. that is a fact. no two ways about it. so, it's fair to say okay, oldest president of the united states, look at actuarial tables your vp might have a chance of sitting oval office desk and she has a 37% approval rating. fair question to ask by your point by nikki haley to frame it that way. >> jesse: we have cornel west in the mix. do you think he is a serious threat? >> >> without a doubt.
4:08 pm
you make the point about ballot access. hard to get on the ballot. currently only on the ballot in three states. this is where this could make a huge difference. 2016, according to nbc 6% of those who voted vote god are a third party candidate. compared that to the last election 2% a decrease of 4% for third party candidates and of those, they were breaking for joe biden on a 2 to 1 basis. you could make an argument third party were key to the 2016 election. you don't only have him the thing called the no labels party that they're working on a ticket may put. $70 million jesse and they are in the ballot on arizona already. third party candidates may be joe's undoing. >> jesse: what is it about cornel west that might attract black americans, younger americans, bernie bros? >> authenticity. i mean, joe biden gave these well-woven mannequin like
4:09 pm
talking point to the black community and latino community. people bought into it and then he failed them. when you have 34% of black voters saying that biden has delivered? 34%? that is ridiculously low for a president that needs black voters. and you contrast that with under trump, trump median income for black households, for hispanic households increased by 7%. he made good on a promise to these communities. and that's why have you seen minorities disproportionately moving toward the republican party. albeit very small. that movement is real. so they need to watch out over in pennsylvania avenue they are not going to show up. >> jesse: stephen a. smith very powerful voice voice. the steel has been broken. he comes out and straight up says we can't have joe biden in 2024. is that going to have an impact? >> i mean, stephen a. smith, will he move the needle? i don't know. is he on espn so he has a big platform. but it's not just that. he also said the media never
4:10 pm
covers black on black crime which is fact-check truth stephen a. smith. so having a voice like that, that's in the sports community and the cultural community saying hey, maybe joe biden is too old. yeah. i think it could make a difference. it may not be the difference but it's one factor among many. joe biden has a lot to worry about. he is hiding away in the oval as jen psaki said they came up with that strategy of not talking to the press in the fall of 2021. i wouldn't bet so far on that at some point we have got to smoke him out there. >> jesse: you know how sensitive i am, kayleigh. can i feel the ground shifting on the democratic side of things. can you feel it. everybody knows it and you know, they always want to talk about the drama on the right. there's a lot of drama going on on the left. kayleigh, thank you so much as always for joining "jesse watters primetime." >> thanks, jesse. >> jesse: up next, joe biden's whistleblower may be killed. that's what the fbi is saying.
