>> yes sir. >> christopher wray is now willing to allow the house overtight committee to review the 1023 that shows the alleged vovt of joe biden in a bribery scene. kevin cork is live in washington with breaking information on this. >> good evening trace and house republicans scrapping a high profile vote to hold christopher wray in contempt as they continue to ramp up the investigation into president joe biden. the oversight committee had been scheduled to meet thursday on a resolution holding wray in contempt of congress after a week's long back and forth with the bureau, but chair comer calling tofr vote after the fbi allowed committee members to review a 2020 document. in addition to leting the panel review the document jamie raskin and mr. comer will also be able
9:09 pm
to review two additional documents. watch that story line. said comer in a statement allowing oversight committee members is and important step to conducting oversight of the fbi and holding it accountable to the american people. at the center of the standoff is a document that republicans allege ties then vice-president biden to a bribery scheme. the fbi is warning that the documents contain some unverified information. now, if wray were found in contempt of congress he could face a year behind bars but tonight this latest deal makes that less likely. trace. >> looks like somebody blinked. kevin in d.c., former defense department chief of staff cash patel. your reaction to director wray turning over this 1013 saying can you all look at it. >> great to be with you. thank for having me.
9:10 pm
the director of the fbi the top cop united states of america initially lied to senator grassley and said this 1023never existed then a whistleblower comes forward and says years of reporting from a verified source at fbi documented this back in 2017 and wray had to correct course. i'm not here to celebrate wins and losses. they said the same thing. can you not reveal the sources like steele and company, people will die. the only thing that was happening was the destruction of the fbi's integrity because they were covering up their corruption and i think that's what was going on here and wray may have blinked for now but it shouldn't take there long for a director of the fbi to submit to constitutional oversight from congress and he is subject to the same laws as we are into and james made a point, once
9:11 pm
director wray confirmed the records existence the fbi started a could have are you. the case is not closed as the witt democrats and fbi would have the people believe and cash media outlets were reporting this case was closed because the fbi told them it was. >> look. director wray is taking that page out of director comey's book. they lie with the media when it supports a far tifr and investigation head want to suppress. we know now this information was known in 2017 and never leaked from the fbi but as you highlight they put out a false narrative to say the investigation was over so director wray has lied numerous times. that's a problem for another day. the fact it took months to produce one or two documents should show the american people there's a two level system of justice and the fbi and garland are rewriting the rule books and the way the law works with a

9:14 pm
this bill comes after a new study by the national retail federation that finds shoplifting is becoming quote a threat to brick and more tar commerce altogether but instead of protecting those in the business by passing a law that would make it a crime to steal california thought it would best to regulate workers. for clarity retail stores in california losing 10s of millions in stolen goods have to spend millions of extra dollars training their employees how not to confront people who steal. so theft is allowed, resistance isn't. feels bad that retail chains are getting ripped off before the crooks even show up. big shake up in the cable news industry cnn makes another change at the top ceo chris licht is out, four weeks after

the network aired that con ten, town hall with former president trump and days after a magazine article pained a devastating important rat of his leadership. fox news media analyst and host of media buzz howard kurtz. >> in over a year licht made a slew of mistakes that cost hi his job, ouster days after atlantic article that concluded licht lost the confers of his news room heat was picked by his pal david head much warner discovery which bought the network parent company and with plummeting press and profit it is he dropped him. he moved liberal host don lemon to cnn's show that led him to fire lemon. the staff viewed licht as aloof and and were loyal to jeff zuker who was fired for not disclosing
9:16 pm
and affair with his deputy. cnn ratings rose as zucker turned it into a liberal and friday trump channel. with zazloff backing he tried to rebuild it as a straight news channel. >> i think the tone has changed where we are more accessible to different people coming on. >> licht also took a year to name kaitlyn collins to fill the hole left by chris cuomo e fires but the biggest debacle was staging a town hall with donald trump rolling over collins. >> okay. it's very simple to answer. you're a nasty person. >> in the atlantic piece licht says welcoming republicans doesn't make me a fascist right winger. chris licht faced mission impossible turning around a cable news battle ship in one year. he apologized to his staff monday for buying a distraction
9:17 pm
but it was too late, trace. >> howard thank you. let's bring in fox news considerater joe. jake tapper aaron burnett and anderson cooler ever voiced about licht's leadership some explaining their views in conversations with incoming cnn chief operating david levy. the people said they had want cnn to stay where it was? joe? >> well, why stay where it was? remember, trace, before chris licht got there cnn lost 80percent of its audience when you compare early 2021 to gut when chris licht got there so it was already going in a titanic-like direction at that point. and let's be clear here. cnn had lost the trust of republicans of independents.
9:18 pm
when you compare it to where it was back in we had bernard shaw there and when you had others there that it was called the spare tire that when there's breaking news you go to cnn because that's the spare tire in the back of your car. so, i think that in the end, chris licht while he tried to bring the network back to the middle, can be blamed for what happened here at cnn as far as losing all the viewers it did. it was jeff zucker who should be blamed because there was so many people that left at that point because waits seen as an activist network hand against conservatives, against independents for that matter and that's where we are now show i don't think that chris licht necessarily was the problem. jeff zucker was the problem. >> you talk about ratings politico says quoting it's very difficult to remodel a house on fired and that in a digs to
9:19 pm
warner brothers discovery debt load makes the shuffle of cnn chairmen look like a make work project. your final not on this joe. >> well look. the bottom line is that two things happened here that led to chris licht's departure. that is, putting donald trump on the air for a town hall. now, donald trump is the leading contender for the republican party as far as nomination is concerned, and to put him on the air is news worthy and many people there shot that was a problem. anderson cooper went on the air after donald trump's town hall last month and said, i don't blame you if you're angry and never watch the network again. that's a problem when your own anchor says that and obviously that atlantic piece on chris licht where chris was critical of covid coverage at the network where he said this was only being done for fear mongering
9:20 pm
railgting and clicks where you had talent that said we don't like the fact that you want to go to the middle and we would rather stay as the resistance network and that's where we are at this point. that's why licht is gone. that's a problem. >> joe great to have you on. thank you sir. >> thank you. >> meantime back to our top fire wildfire smoke from canada affecting u.s. air quality for a hundred million americans across multiple states. did you -- dr. humadi joins us and what about your life campaign slogan? do you have a phrase that defines you something you live by? inspire us, let us know on social media. give us your campaign slogan and
