tv The Ingraham Angle FOX News June 9, 2023 7:00pm-8:00pm PDT
7:00 pm
ever miss an episode of hannity we hope you have a great weekend and thank you for making the show possible. in the meantime let not your heart be troubled here is laura with the ingraham angle. straight ahead. >> >> hi everyone i am laura ingraham this is the ingraham angle. lots of news. get right to it. the american left has worked overtime for decades. slowly but surely destroying every norm that we americans once held dear. sexual norms. they are gone. >> this is kenzie she fell in love with legacy and they fell in love with >> people assume i am the guy. and i have two girlfriends.
7:01 pm
>> she has two girlfriends. and i have two girlfriends. >> if anyone has doubted or question being in a polyamorous relationship. it's not as bad as you think. >> no judging. of course religious or cultural norms are under assault. how edgy. business norms. gone. >> nike set to unveil a new gender inclusive apparel line for children. as part of its pride celebration a leaked email obtained by the daily wire also shows the nike united pride network is offering pride to themed fitness events and a chance for children to talk with a doctor who has performed gender surgeries on adolescents. >> historic norms obliterated. swimming generations of black children have been made to feel inferior in these united states
7:02 pm
of america. >> new york is mandating a racial class and that state universities and if you don't pass you don't graduate. and of course legal norms are gone. >> a groundbreaking shift in american constitutional law the supreme court appears poised to strike down a landmark roe v wade decision the leak is unprecedented. >> it's very disturbing because these were part of the glue that held together mucmisys --m of the society. and everything else begins to pull apart and then it gives a way for the smashing of other

roles that exist for good reason like the unspoken rule that you don't try to put your political opponents in jail by weapon icing the doj at intel agencies against your political opponents and the follow-on norm that during legal proceedings you don't leak it's of evidence to the media to try to convict someone in the court of public opinion. this may have been what happened today in the trump documents case run by special prosecutor jack smith cnn somehow claims it got its hands on a tape recording of donald trump saying allegedly he has a secret pentagon document about attacking iran. several sources told cnn the recording captures the sounds of paper rustling as if trump was waving the document around even those not clear if it's the actual document that's another norm blown into a thousand pieces and at this point we have to assume democrats will stop at nothing to turn this election into their favor regardless of what's happening to the economy, foreign policy, the border, all of it.
7:04 pm
it's not about pursuing a full application of justice or the rule of law this is about winning a bare knuckles brawl for the future of the country. so tonight i want to be clear. no conservative with a real chance of reaching higher office is going to escape this unbridled assault. this is not about trump. it goes way beyond him so you agree with democrats on the perpetual wars, the open border or rolling over for china. you agree with all of that? and the trans agenda as well and generally you will be safe if you will be targeted otherwise the new norm is submit or die. but just as they did during covid i think the democrats are underestimating the tolerance of the american people for this banana republic style of approach to governance and to
7:05 pm
the legal system. we certainly don't pay taxes to support policies that we don't like and that don't work and then are turned against us. there is a growing multiethnic coalition forming across this country of people and parents who were organizing and unafraid. and they will use every legal avenue they see fit to protect their children so they are not used as guinea pigs for cultural marxists running our school protect the economy, the savings all of it. because of what's happening in our country. we did not ask for this battle but we did not we will not sit back and let them run this country into the ground without doing anything to turn it around. trump or no trump this country has to be saved. they are after him though we don't know how it's going to play out but if we don't beat them politically it will be all of us who are targeted those of us who don't comply. joining us now is the former white house press secretary and fox contributors.
7:06 pm
let's start with you speaking of warm busting we could see trump convicted by his chief political opponent and doj and yet still somehow win the presidency.could that be something that might happen at the end of all of this given how this is unfolding? >> if you think about it this could be the first time in our nation's history were we have a judicial case settled by a referendum of the people. donald trump indicted. if he is convicted donald trump first action will be to pardon myself joe biden or whoever he runs against will say donald trump deserves to be imprisoned and if he is elected that's the only way he gets out of prison. this election could hinge on that question, i am not sure who side that benefits the most that could be good for the democrats because with the
7:07 pm
biden's weaknesses of the issue was about joe biden, republicans are likely going to win. this could be the first referendum of a court case decided by the republic. >> obama cia chief john brennan one of your favorites, he thinks republicans are sending a message of those who were standing with trump tonight. watch great >> i find it totally outrageous that republican members of congress today are continuing to embrace trump and trash the department of justice i find that outrageous. they are sending a message throughout this country and around the world that calls into question the system of justice in this country. >> those who were questioning the timing and the process by which this is done, they are they threat to democracy. you see the where this is going.
7:08 pm
>> he lied to congress he lied about spying on congress he should have been held in contempt of congress it should have gone to jail and this is a joke of the case there is no love lost between me and the former president but when it comes to this case it's an absolute joke it's ridiculous. this is a situation where jack smith comes out there and he could not talk for three minutes about this case it's an absolute insult to anybody and when it comes to the historical precedent. we have never had a former president indicted for anything because we understood the standard had to be very high and in this case it is clear that the doj and the fbi under joe biden had been a weapon i step against the political enemies of the democratic party in a way that is on precedented unacceptable evolves to have everyone evolve fire district of any benefits they might have received and i can't believe my
7:09 pm
taxpayer dollars are going to go and fund these people for the rest of their lives that that insult to every american who believes we ought to have any kind of fairness and when you read this indictment it reads like a bunch of sloppy behavior that easily could have been resolved with a series of meetings and was weapon eyes because the former president of the united states who the doj and everyone else involved in this law-enforcement state is weapon eyes against because of their hatred for him and everything he represents. >> i think what we have seen president trump has said explicitly that they want him off the political playing field if he went away this would go away and rachel maddow was saying basically the same thing say the silent part out loud. i want to play this back to back. >> i'm the one they don't want to run against. please take them out of politics.
7:10 pm
>> you have to wonder if the justice department is considering if there is some political solution to this criminal problem. do they consider as part of a potential plea offer something that would prescribe him from running for office again. >> if he said i am done with this really go on much longer? >> first of all this should be seen as a day of hypocrisy should go down in infamy. how can they go after donald trump for this and indict the man when hillary clinton did very similar things including the destruction of evidence including top-secret information in her home. what's the difference? the difference is the obama administration in which hillary clinton served essentially gave a pardon to hillary and the obama doj declined to prosecute because james comey told them to and she should have been prosecuted. she would have been prosecuted he would've had consistency but they can't go after donald trump when they can't go after hillary clinton. go ahead.
7:11 pm
there is sloppiness here president trump, no president should have taken classified information and number two if it's brought to your attention there is classified information, the answer is to return it immediately and he should have done that. i don't think it's a crime.i don't think he should be indicted for but this is a fact of what happens when you have a sloppy administration thinks he can just declassify anything they did not follow the rules and that's one of the reasons he's on the hot water he is in. it is important. >> but just to disagree slightly i think the reason he is in hot water, we understand, is not because of the sloppiness is because as you know, if you violate these rules and the deep state the law enforcement they are friendly toward you they will give you every opportunity to make up for it to file the right forms and reiterate things >> but if you're on the
7:12 pm
opposite side they will come after you hammer and tongs and they will treat you in every way to destroy you. >> the point is that it was sloppy. >> and that's why i said he should not have been indicted. this is wrong. as someone who handled classified information if you have it where it should not be the answer is to return it. >> everyone should be held to the same standard but you have to bet the stuff down from the very beginning.both parties unfortunately the law does not apply to both parties great analysis. >> a moment ago jack smith spoke earlier today for the first time since that indictment was announced. here is part of it. >> adherence to the rule of law is a bedrock principle the department of justice of our nation's commitment to the rule of law sets an example for the world. we have one set of laws in this
7:13 pm
country and they apply to everyone. it's very important for me to note the defendants in this case must be presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. to that end, my office will seek a speedy trial in this matter consistent with the public interest and the rights of the accused. >> speedy trial 2 and a half minutes he spoke joining me now former us attorney and former trump impeachment lawyer, your reaction to this document smith remarks, there's quite a bit of detail and they want to overwhelm the public this is serious and everybody had better take it seriously. that was the message today. >> i thought his remarks were a queue for queen gertrude and hamlet who responded to an insincere character by saying
7:14 pm
the lady doth protest too much methinks why is it the first thing on jack smith's mind is tried to claim this is the equal application of the law because he knows it doesn't it's going to be open to that kind of protest right away the indictment itself is a speaking indictment for public consumption it's a clever but very sick attempt at putting forward their position. i said last night that almost facetiously that they would charge under 18 usc 793 would not have to confront the classified document or declassified issue and in the indictment they allege classified classified classified but they charge under the statute they don't have to prove that i am telling you today is just not clinton should have been prosecuted joe biden must be prosecuted under 790 3e if this is the government theory. all that's required is the retention of national defense information very broadly construed all the documents he
7:15 pm
has you can be sure there is national defense information and he knew better if anybody knew better. >> in terms of this indictment and your reaction to its issuance in a statement from mr. smith today. >> i think david is right. this is a classic speaking indictment. i don't think they should be allowed, but they are allowed. i use them when i was a prosecutor and the whole point of it is to basically release information to the public in detailed form that you normally wouldn't be able to release. nothing unethical about it and was very well done i say that as a question of professional admiration. it sets it out in almost novelistic fashion it doesn't speak to the issue that other
7:16 pm
people have talked about including you of the unequal treatment of donald trump but it does do a good job of setting up the government's case. >> i want to play a moment from andy mccarthy today on fox about part of trump's defense. >> i have personally never been blown away by his claim which his lawyers won't repeat it in court and there's no documentary evidence of that he declassified everything it wouldn't be a defense in an espionage case because the espionage app doesn't speak about classified information that speaks about national defense information. >> is he correct about that? >> is a little bit wrong. but yes that's why they charge under 793 e. so they don't have to deal with that issue. this is a very defensible case there are different defenses of different elements for sure.
7:17 pm
i think some past decisions are going to come to haunt them. language that would have led president trump to believe he was entitled to do what he did including something in my mind that triggers a double standard by judge amy jackson a trump hater from 2012 it talks about the broad discretion of a president with respect to presidential records and personal records. there's a lot to discuss. >> you heard jackson talk about he is going to be pursuing a speedy trial. still being fair to the defendant etc. do you feel like with all the motion practice that's going to take place here that it could ever be resolved with the election and if not what does this do to our presidential election cycle and substantive issues this nation is facing a clearly legal question obviously. >> is very unlikely to be resolved before the election if the former president trump's legal team says they need more
7:18 pm
time. if they decide to do what ted stevens defense team did he was indicted fairly shortly before an election and he demanded because he wanted to be cleared before the election to go forward and it was a disaster for the department of justice because they withheld exculpatory information so i don't know what is going to be made but if they want to delay it i think it will be delayed beyond the election. >> on the switching up of the legal team trustee is out he was on the show last night i am surprised they didn't have one of the top litigators in southern florida who is seasoned in this arena. and locked in and ready to go. what is your theory on that? >> there are a number of issues going on behind the scenes but
7:19 pm
people who were broad and originally because they have a justice department experience they were liaisons that was their primary role in the case he is going to need to beef up the team now for sure and president trump will want very strong lawyers coming in he has more than what he is going to have but i want to be clear about one thing understand how sick it is. they have charged here under the witness tampering statute 20 year accounts for this kind of thing that's why this is part of the speaking indictment for public consumption it's outrageous and sick it's a very defensible case. >> both of you always invaluable insight. thank you after spending years slamming many republicans in the presidential race the left is now somehow celebrating them. why is that happening? the video plus mark penn and leeza eldon. don't miss it. next.
7:24 pm
7:25 pm
he should be sent to utah and locked up in a little barn. >> he is not a hero. he is a coward. >> now he has gone from zero to hero. >> he was also surprisingly spicy and aggressive in going after donald trump. >> this is somebody who actually believes in something. i think it's healthy for the party and the country. >> of the media's favorite punching bag for years, chris christie. >> i am still angry about a bridge gate. >> i think the bridge is an embarrassment and chris christie. >> now things have changed. >> we saw chris christie go there and when i say go there actually tell the truth about who donald trump is and the impact of the last seven or eight years. >> for him to be that voice of
7:26 pm
reason. >> the voice of reason? and don't think we are forgetting about what they said about the gop moderate like nikki haley. >> she wasn't even a day trader she was trading by the minute and the hour but now? what happened to you? what? >> don't you miss him? a surefire way to turn the page away from that criticism, take some swipes at trump. >> we had nikki haley at the town hall she had some pointed criticism spirit >> i think she really is differentiating herself >> she may have the most political talent in the race. >> joining me now former clinton advisor and along with me former congressman and
7:27 pm
gubernatorial candidate. lee. let's start with you. the resurrection of some of these former politicians former pundits, commentators. is this too obvious to cover or is this a point of absolute sure your absurdity >> is very obvious it has to be covered. i'm glad you are talking about it. the left is able to use these republican candidates to take down donald trump. they would do that if any of these other candidates emerged to become the front runner or to serve political purpose. on top of it is the emotional factor that third level of has triggered and broken emotional you have people on the left have been living in this anti-trump world for years and they are able to do in the words of these republicans it
7:28 pm
also legitimizes the way they have been talking about this stuff over the course of the last few years so it serves to bolster what they are talking about as a business model under networks on different fronts i would say is an important message to the other candidates and anyone else out there on the republican side, don't be a useful idiot to this left. >> if you are close to national office and when they are taking on the dc guard the establishment will come for you. look what gavin newsom is saying about rhonda santos it's a crime for him to send migrants to the state of california so if people think republicans who criticized trump are going to have an immunity shield in front of them, do you think they are too na?ve here? >> you have to question what is the game that is being played here?
7:29 pm
if you are a democrat you want donald trump to be the nomination and if you are democratic media the best way to get donald trump the nomination is to spread out the republican vote is much as possible and i think that's where you see this praise. vice president pence has had four years of exposure. he has not caught on the way of vice president needs to i think they are playing up all of these other candidates just to make it easier for trump because trump is really the nominee they want. >> a bit of advice, the opposite route of some of the other contenders on cnn this week. >> a lot of christie's criticism towards trump is vengeance and grievance i don't know that more vengeance and grievance helps us look forward. >> he also said that we should disband the fbi that the fbi
7:30 pm
should be defunded which is the more relevant point in other words the view on this indictment we have to drain the swamp. that's what republicans should be talking about given how this fbi's going to be used to target any republican in striking distance. >> a lot of people did not know who he was before he announced for president he it impress people by being articulate and smart and by elevating himself beyond the petty back-and-forth a lot of people are becoming impressed he is becoming people second choice and there is a benefit that you have these other republican candidates going after their front wanderer and he is not taking any shots it ends up elevating their candidacy so it's a smart strategy and one other point i would add understanding why the media has been going after these points of these republican presidential
7:31 pm
candidates is the business model. the audience is so far deranged and insisting that the hosts obsess over this anti-trump of session they are feeding their audience with that as well. >> i think there is a serious point to be made here about public trust in our institutions you have to have trust that law enforcement is going to fight without political bias. the same rules that apply to hillary should apply to trump and to any other republican and fairly or unfairly half the country thinks the intel agencies have been weapon eyes. how serious a problem beside the partisan issue how serious a problem is that? >> it's a big problem we see that some of the leading institutions like law enforcement and the fbi have ratings that approach 50 percent they have to be 70 or 80 percent they have to have national respect for both sides
7:32 pm
in order for a democracy to function. the report was devastating on the fbi but at the end of the day what it really said was it needed new leadership. that was clear and i think any candidate out there should say look it's not a matter of rules it's a matter of leadership that we really want to follow the rules and have neutral agencies. >> great to see you both tonight. >> how the media using trump's indictment as a shiny new distraction. it's friday follies and do we need them, that's next.
7:38 pm
>> it's friday and that means it's time for friday follies. thank goodness. return to your raymond. we weren't going to let you get away without follies tonight. but it does come it has a slightly different character tonight. >> yes it does laura. i would normally do three wishes but i have one wish tonight. the myth makers in the media would stop opining on things they don't understand. at cnn it's like they just rolled out a new miniseries. >> we are witnessing a truly
7:39 pm
extraordinary moment in american history the enormity of it cannot be overstated. swim with the tethe key to understanding his devotion to the rule of law. >> the president of the united states. they don't indict people. they don't indict people laura. trump department of justice might not have but it's looking like this is a justice department that targets political opponents. >> i love the open to the cnn extravaganza. this is a summer blockbuster otherwise what are they going to talk about? the fact that biden is allowing china and cuba to set up a listening post 90 miles offshore. >> don't get ahead of me ingraham. i have to share the other media analysis. there was no less lunatic and
7:40 pm
get a reaction. >> this is quite different from cheating on your spouse, cheating on your taxes. this is a national security issue potentially around our secrets. >> he is indicted. he is saying that. spoon gift trump had announced after the election he was done with politics who thinks any of this would have happened? if he was three percent in the polls this wouldn't have happened. it's because he's leading. >> to be so deliberate and to be dancing about this. i caught that dance move. that was a good one. >> yeah dancing with the almost stars and no matter what side of the aisle you are on politically, laura the media so obsessed with donald trump they ignore what the current president is doing or not doing. this time the guy from england. >> well mr. president.
7:41 pm
mr. president. mr. prime minister. it is a limitless capacity impossibility and not only has the potential to cure cancer and many other things that are just beyond our comprehension but it has the potential to do great damage if it's not controlled. >> laura, nai president at this point might be a better bargain. this one's motherboard is fried but how can he possibly conduct foreign policy? he doesn't even know the proper title for his ally. he is confusing basic facts and no trade deal with the uk after this big visit this week. no trade deal just other agreements to >> but this is going to be two years a year and and a half whatever of nonstop they have
7:42 pm
trump now. if they don't have to ever cover the economy again the biden economy, empty office buildings in every major city, they will be happy. this is really a moment of glee and pleasure because they don't have to talk about biden's failures. >> you mentioned the chinese spy post that cuba is erecting where they can determine targets in the united states that they might hit in the event of a conflict. we hear nothing about the stories because we are focused on a trump indictment. it is one story, it is not all stories but is played like an ongoing miniseries on all networks and some embarrassing local stories are simply not getting any attention at all. former biden official richmond smashed his mercedes into a tree in new orleans. and officers say his speech was slurred.they did not subject him to a sobriety test.
7:43 pm
now they are defending the officers say i am not above being bias. yes it was the former congressman and employee of the dnc but that doesn't mean you render bias for you follow policy and they did that. now laura ingraham if this had been steve scalise or a republican rnc official smashing into a tree with slurred speech, do you think they would get anything but a little warning? do you think they wouldn't be subjected to a breathalyzer? >> they would probably have jack smith out there doing a press conference. >> there is no political bias here whatsoever. >> that recall of latoya didn't sadly work out so she is still kicking. >> she recalled all the votes all the people who signed the petition. 80 percent of them are not that.
7:44 pm
>> great to see you. we needed this tonight. have a great weekend. >> the governmental agencylate placing us temperature measurement stations and compromisee locations in order to push these insane climate mproposals the meteorologists making the allegation is here and he will explain it all. that's next great >> >> >> moky enough for you?
7:49 pm
7:50 pm
the green new deal's high priestess seems to think so early this week aoc accusedthe 24 hours of smog and high temperatures in puerto rico , it is june in puerto rico, did you know that? to push her policy prescriptions it bears repeating how unprepared we are we must adapt food systems energy grids, infrastructure, healthcare etc. asap to prepare for what's to come and to catch up with what's already here. but meteorologist anthony watts says she is wrong on both counts. he is here to explain now. anthony, ray to see you tonight.first of all on the insistence and this drumbeat has gone on for some time wildfires are increasing the numbers of wildfires. is that actually the case? >> no. in fact there was a huge wildfire event in canada on may 19, 1789 that cause the entire
7:51 pm
new england area to dark out so much the people had to light candles to see and it was called new england's dark day and this kind of event has happened before but more importantly, we have had wildfires in the united states that were worse, back in the 20s and 30s and the data supports it. the data shows that wildfires cover more acreage back than what they do today. >> i want you to hear with the canadian prime minister pretty boy justin trudeau said earlier in the week. we make year after year with climate change we are seeing more intense wildfires and the places where they don't normally happen. that's why we have invested to train more community-based firefighters throughout the country. >> as it turns out wildfires in canada are quite normal so normal that the website has a page devoted to educating the public about them of this month said why forests need fire so to actually conceive that and that's correct what is this all
7:52 pm
about? this hysteria? >> well what has happened lately is the left has started to blame every abnormal event on climate change is the universal bogeyman of blame. something changes that is abnormal msp climate change. they don't think this through and look at back at data and look at history to see if this has happened before. so that's the problem. they are out there spewing rhetoric and it boils down to this.who do you want to believe? do you want to believe a bartender turned politician with an agenda or solid data that says there is no climate crisis i choose data every day of the week and twice on sunday. >> this important story, it your contention that temperature measurement stations that are strategically placed to promote in your view
7:53 pm
the most radical climate priorities if you could explain that for us i would really appreciate it tonight. >> it is pretty simple the national oceanic and atmospheric administration is the charge of weather stations across the united states but the problem is they are not maintaining and my study is going to visit hundreds of these stations across the united states showing their improperly cited. there's a simple rule about the placement of these stations compared to where they are supposed to be there supposed to be in pristine areas like in a field somewhere what we have found in parking lots, we have found there next to brick walls we have found there next to exhaust vents for air-conditioners and all sorts of things my study last year following up from what i did in 2009 shows the problem getting worse. 96 percent of the weather stations used to measure climate by the national oceanic and atmospheric administration are compromised in these stations read warmer than the
