administration say at first this reporting is inaccurate to turn around and say don't worry it's real now, we inherited the problem it seems like a suspicious flip-flop. is it that were some way to protect the security operation that we should not be talking so freely about, what is going on. >> it is really hard to know. this is like the spy building. if you remember the biden administration set at first this is the first time we've seen this and then they backtracked and said multiple spy balloons of the prior administration that had been reported. it's unclear if they're saying the report that was going to be a new station was inaccurate and had been there for a while, they did clarify it's been there for a while, if it is true, why have two administrations including the current administration allow a major administration off 90 miles of the coast that the troubling thing and no explanation from the administration other than saying we're engaging in diplomatic

eric: college tuition come to the steeper price steeping federal loans climbed from 4.99% to 5.50% as you can see, some borrowers seen a brief pause during the pandemic but it's going up, interest and payment set to resume at the end of the summer. last year the average student loan was $436, going up to 621 or bachelors degree, why?
1:21 pm
politics cofounder is going to bring us up-to-date on all of this. it's unbelievable how high-priced colleges are why does it cost so much to get a diploma. >> i think per usual when you look at the root cause and traces back to the government got involved in higher education and with the free market decades we've seen tuition prices climb three times the rate of inflation since the 1970s. while it's been exasperated by the current issues of inflation and the federal reserve continuing to rise interest-rate to get a hold of everything that they did in 20 and 21 this is not a new phenomenon, college has been greatly outpacing the rate of return for some time we have seen the college degrees have lost their value in you stand to make one point to million dollars on average with a college degree than somebody who doesn't get one, that is an average and skewed by people who
1:22 pm
become doctors and lawyers and other high earning prevention that should never have required a college degree or going to things that won't end up paying 30 or $40000 a year in the market for return for what they're paying for at the institutions. eric: would go under the hood the other question is why did the increase so much past inflation did everything else then education center, the national center for education studies you said three times more since 1980 the average has got up five times more like 1100%, as you said is the government professor salaries, insurance or are they spending money on things that they should be doing. >> basically what you had the government has come in and subsidize demand so the schools have been duly divorced from actual free market and incentive accountability they have been able to jacked the rates up far more than what the average
1:23 pm
person could pay i'm a perfect example $40000 a year bmi parents could never have afforded without student loans and never would've done so if the government would've been deflating the demand colleges can keep jack in the rates up higher than what they can afford to do and the chickens don't come home to roost for years later another piece of research for every dollar the federal government has spent for student loans college has raised their tuition by 60 cents. we know throwing money at the problem would make things worse if you were to come in and cancel student debt there is no doubt in my mind that the colleges and universities can continue to build more expensive and pay their administration and their needs to be rocketing with the institutions and a lot of them have lied to people they have inflated their rates and told student still make a lot more was student degrees and when they're buried in debt the colleges never have to answer
1:24 pm
for the fact that they sold a false bill of goods this is something the trump administration floated several years ago and they should be more on the hook when their degrees are indeed upper bankruptcy where they can't pay their debt. many things should not be degrees with a bit of research that shows fewer than 50% of people should be working in the field that they get their degree in, many people five years after graduation are working jobs that don't require college degrees, we need to quit pushing everybody and inflating demand and the supply side would have to come down they would have to reduce the rates. eric: we see the protest about canceling student debt other studies say the price has gone down but that has not helped the students who incur so much debt, the supreme court potentially is going to rule next month on the president's plan to forgive $20000 of debt. do you think that is a good idea and what do you say to those
1:25 pm
people who say they're questioning me with the unbelievable interest rates it is so unfair they should've made it far more fair with the college ship program. >> i don't think that is unfair you decided to take out a loan. it's arguable many of the are under age 25 and machine brain and the prefrontal cortex is not fully developed into how the couple understanding of what they're signing onto a pushback that the average person who has student that is being buried in this the average payment is $250 and the second job to pay that and i think you have a responsibility to do or say what you're going to do and pay your bills, that being said i live that out and paid my bills my parents and i paid my bills and i would never let a child of mine going to school and take on this debt i would do a lot more to advocate against that and educate them but to forgive student debt is a regressive policy. this is something where you are
1:26 pm
taking for people american taxpayers who have not gone to college and on average are going to earn less than a million dollars compared to the people that got diplomas going to force them to subsidize these loans, that is very regressive and we know this would mostly benefit people who are doctors and lawyers who have masters degrees and got a lot more schooling. i think it's very unfair and i think if you did that you would have to keep doing it and be on the pathway to making college free and i think that would further devalue these degrees in the long run. >> think of all the people who had spent a lot of their own money for college while others may be forgiven. we will find out more and see what the supreme court finds on july of base politics, good to see you. thank you. arthel: this is an incredible story out of amazon jungle where for colombian children were oculus lee survived a plane crash that unfortunately killed their mom and then they survived 40 days in the jungle.

1:35 pm
>> gag orders are always about balance. you have the argument against the free-speech rights of those who want to talk about the case, the lawyers and the victims families and others. the freedom of the press right in the first amendment as well for those in the media that want to report on the case. the arguments against it are unfair potential prejudiced for the defendant in the sense if people are commenting about the evidence that could be miss characterizations of the evidence and argument you don't want to prejudiced potential jurors in the case. it's balancing on both cases they are fairly compelling. arthel: they are, the judge is considering and as he does so to lift the gag order in this case. in the end what do you think factors would weigh heavily on this decision. every case is different, what about this case?
1:36 pm
>> i myself have adjusted my view of gag orders a little bit initially i was more against them because i believe obviously in the free-speech rights of those that want to talk about the case and the freedom of the press for the media but in today's world with technological changes, viral clicks things going by with instantaneous information going all over the place, social media and so forth, there are concerns about prejudice. i'm still somewhat against them pretty think what the judge would do if it gets interesting i think the judge will have a little bit of a compromise which is you are forbidden from speaking about the evidence specifically if you come to know about any of it but i'm not going to curtail to make other comments again that are not related to the evidence in the case possibly. i think the judge is weighing the things that were discussing right now which is on the one hand freedom of speech on the press and the other hand the fair trial and again, it's hard to predict how it comes out it
1:37 pm
is very difficult to be. arthel: if the judge is considering a compromise, maybe like you mentioned and if that is in place, eventually if somebody violates the agreement, then what? >> that is a great question then you get into serious problems which is arguing that somebody violated it and say no i did not violated at all i did not speak about the evidence i spoke about another aspect pretty comes a question if you're asking me this is enforcement how are you going to enforce the gag order we see that with gag orders but again if he does the compromise order a be a little tricky but they will try their best. arthel: each side has made their case his last name is judge by the way. it is, talk about destiny. what happens next, what is the
