an honest accounting of our past and our present. >> dana: now senator scott is pushing back saying president obama is the one who failed to bring the country together. trey gowdy the host of sunday sunday night in america. if president obama is going to try to attack tim scott as he said it is not personal but on the overall issue tim scott will take the opportunity to respond. you know tim scott well. how do you respond to what obama said? >> you know, dana, usually when someone says don't take this personally you probably should take it personally. i am stunned at how little barack obama knows about tim scott and i'm also stunned at what little effort he made when he was in washington for five years to change that. if he knew anything at all about tim scott he would know tim scott starts with education. if you want to do something about poverty in this country, then give people access to a

quality education. that's the number one issue for tim scott. follow that up with criminal justice reform. he took plenty of arrows. that's not a republican talking point. no one at the grocery store stops republican candidates and say i wish you would talk about criminal justice reform. tim scott did. opportunity zones. tinge that -- i know he drove a man to the polling place to vote for barack obama for president the first time. he drove a black man, an older black man that he knew was not going to vote the same way he was going to vote for president but he at least honored that man enough to say we can have different visions on how we want to get to the north star. i think it's a shame that barack obama can't show the same grace and the same respect to tim scott that tim scott showed to him. >> bill: tim scott responded. this was on wednesday now so

this goes back a couple days with mark levin. >> you can't miss that opportunity. america was hungry for bringing our country together. president obama missed that opportunity. president biden ran as the great uniter and he has been the great divider. it is possible for america to come together but not because of the color of our skin or because of the consistency of our value system. >> bill: another thing caught my attention what tim scott said. democrats deny our progress to protect their power. and then look at what president obama said. how do we address crippling generational poverty as a consequence of hundreds of years of racism in society? it sounded a little like an argument toward reparations. is that what you heard? >> that is what i heard and no one is better than barack obama

at kind of sending signals, denyable signals. i thought reparations, that may not be what he meant. i will be more fair to him than he was to tim scott but bill, you mentioned pain and progress. in this country we have to balance the pain of yesterday and in some instances today. the undeniable fact we've made progress and what tim likes to do is focus on the promise and potential of tomorrow. we're a nation trying to perfect ourselves. the difference between the two is i think barack obama thinks we'll be forever chained to the racism of our past and tim scott really thinks we're a good country that can become a great country. if you like contrast that's a pretty stark contrast for people. >> dana: one other topic. president biden got a question from a new york reporter yesterday about the question on bribery that the justice department may or may not be

actually today speaker mccarthy and gop lawmakers will be here in california focusing on how they feel liberal policies are enabling the surge in crime. they are going to take part in a briefing on how communities across the country are being hit by organized crime operations and drill down on how they feel california's status as a sanctuary state and soft on crime laws are facilitating these attacks. i want to zoom out. crime has exploded since before the pandemic and i will share numbers with you that shocked me. alm sides in new york and san francisco have increased 37% versus 2019. 30% in chicago. los angeles 48%. those are all democratic-run cities where lawmakers and prosecutors have taken the soft on crime approach and why people and businesses are leaving. >> that's what at stake in the election this fall. high crime leads to increased poverty. data shows that when you have a high crime area, businesses

arrest for the death of an american tourist. the suspect pushed the two women more than 100 feet down a steep slope. what happened here? >> german police say it was a violent attack on two american women. they were lured to a hiking trail and attacked and both of them shoved off a steep slope allegedly by an american man now in custody. this attack happened near a very popular tourist area of a castle in southern germany. two american women ages 21 and 22 were both tourists in the area and met the suspect, a 30-year-old american man all by coincidence as he was also in the area. german police say after meeting on a hiking path the man lured the two women to a trail that leads to a viewpoint and that is when he violently attacked the younger woman first and her friend tried to help. >> the older one tried to rush

to her aid, was choked by the subject and pushed down the slope. an alleged sexual assault to the detriment of the younger woman then occurred whom the suspect then allegedly pushed down the slope. >> both of those women were shoved down the slope and fell nearly 165 feet. they were both rescued by authorities. the 22-year-old who tried to defend her friend was responsive and was taken to a hospital but sadly, the younger 21-year-old was unresponsive and later died at a hospital. the u.s. citizen suspected in the crime left the area but later arrested nearby a short time later. a german judge ordered that american man, the suspect in the case to be held in jail on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and a sexual offense. neither the suspect nor the victims have been identified yet. send it back to you. >> dana: bill mel --

been improving. >> dana: did you know you were playing against a transgender. >> yes. >> dana: had you been concerned about the strength of this individual before the game? >> yes. very much so. but we couldn't refuse the game since it was a conference game so we had to continue to play them even though none of us wanted to. so it was definitely -- >> bill: during warm-ups you are checking out the other team. what did you see and what did you think of that player's performance? >> it was a lot different than the other years i've been playing. i was used to it, though, at that point because he is the same age as me so we played the other all four years against him. but i remember seeing how the fear and especially our younger players on the team who never played against him before so just seeing how scared they were was heartbreaking.

>> dana: did you hear from the individual afterwards? >> not at all until a week after i spoke out for the first time. they sent me a message on instagram and it was very hateful. there is no remorse at all. >> dana: angry towards you for saying something that biological males should not be allowed to play in female sports? >> yes. >> bill: the state house has taken action and now the senate looks like it will as well. you have a democratic governor in roy cooper. do you think he would agree with the lawmakers in the state house to ban? >> no, definitely not. he definitely will not agree with this whole situation. everyone is already expecting that. >> bill: you know it's the topic of national conversation and came up at the white house the other day. here was the question and answer from there. >> what does the president say to parents out there who have daughters who are worried their daughter may have to compete against a male and what about

people on the street. it is multi-cultural because there is an addiction problem. a mental health problem there. i think when you talk with residents. i came from l.a. two days ago. they are getting violent on the street now burning down buildings, cooking their drugs on the street. it is not only a public safety risk, but also not sanitary at all. the amount of human feces and need also i saw on the street. i saw one woman with a crack pipe three weeks when i was in san francisco, i saw the needles hanging out of one of the gentleman roaming the street and they look like zombies. i just don't understand from the politicians how they feel like it is compassionate to keep those people there. no one is saying throw everyone behind bars. but what we are saying is give them a choice. either you go to the treatment facilities to get the help you need, take the housing services
