it's on the b want to wish all the dads out there happy father's day. i sent out lead pastor louis earlier this week for the discussion of challenges and

joys of fatherhood. in his newest book seeing god as a perfect father, seeing you as love, pursued and secure. pastor good to have you on the show. let me start with this. you have said there is a fatherhood crisis. what do you mean? >> well, we look around at the statistics and our current state in america. one and four kids are growing up in a home without a father present in that home. that does not count the homes where there is a physical data in the building. maybe that that is antagonistic or abusive, or not plugged into the life of the kids. think about that. and every four kids is growing up without the presence, the covering of, the shannon: want to read something you wrote in the book. years ago after speaking to the a group of college students, a young man told me if god is like my dad, i'm not interested. how do you speak to those folks who don't have a great

relationship with their dad, and you're asking me to think of god as my heavenly father. >> god is not a bigger version of our earthly dad, he's the perfection of our earthly father. and so no matter what was broken in our relationship with our earthly dad, we can have a new relationship with a perfect father who loves us as sons and daughters. shannon: so how does that then transa late to our earthly relationships as far as a dads who wanted to be better at being a dad. >> well, i think for every dad out there and for every mom it begins by being a son or a daughter. of course you want to be a good dad, you want to be a good mom, you want to be a good leader, you want to raise a good family, but how to do you doha? you have to start by receiving the fact that god can give you what you need as a loved son or loved daughter to help you be the leader of your family, to help you raise your kids in a way that god wants them to live. shannon: how did your dad make
