announcing his run for president. desantis has sparred with his california counterpart in recent weeks and offered this challenge to governor gavin newsom. >> you know what? stop pussy footing around. [applause] >> are you going to throw your hat in the ring and challenge joe? are you going to get in and do it or are you just going to the sit on the sidelines and chirp? why don't you throw your hat in the ring and we will go ahead and talk about what is happ happening. >> governor newsom says he is not going to do it. right now he continues to poll behind pres former president trn surveys. some movement. >> todd: new quinnipiac poll showing former president trump and president biden in a statistical tie even after trump's indictment. >> a poll from quinnipiac on a possible biden trump matchup
2:55 am
puts biden at 48%, trump at 44%. this is a poll, again, taking largely after the indictment that's got to make you a little nervous. that's within the margin of error. that's a statistical tie what does that say about biden if he is bear live win organize lo losing? >> carley: good we by jonathan karl. what does that say with about joe biden? donna brazile says it shows our country is very divided. what do you have to say about it. >> well, you know that, shock comes from jonathan karl, as you noted, who found plenty of time carley to write two books about donald trump that were overwhelmingly regularrive can't find time to write a book about the current president or joe biden. someone who broke a book about joe biden there is plenty of material to work with. overall, look at the real clear politics average what that is basically an average of major polls across the country it.
2:56 am
shows donald trump leading joe biden at this point because, maybe, just maybe, people aren't happy that their wages still aren't keeping up with inflation. that crime is out of control in major cities across -- cities and towns across the country that the border is anything but secure. that education in this country has gone sideways with test scores at 330 year low and see china emboldened by weakness overseas and they don't want a sequel what has largely been absentee presidency and vice presidency, and jonathan karl and others in the political area live in elitist bubble, todd. simply don't want to get out and talk to measures outside of new york or washington. that's why they are so shocked when they see poll results like this because maybe, also, they see the investigation, the indictments of donald trump as politically motivated and not based in anything that actually has anything to do with the law. so we will see where it goes from here. but, expect this. if donald trump and joe biden
2:57 am
end up being the rematch, we are probably going to see poll results that show it's basically a dead heat it can go either way like it could have gone either way in 2020, guys. >> todd: donna brazil gave the stock generic answer. i'm going to see squirrel over here, the country is divided. she gave that answer when the answer is actually way more specific. those numbers show the american people don't want joe biden to your point. meantime, mike pence confronting nbc's chuck todd over the media pushing trump-russia collusion. watch. >> chuck, the independent counsel found that the investigation into russian collusion should never have been initiated. and, yet, we lived through two and a half years of a constant barrage on your network, on the cable network associated with you and many of the other mainstream media suggesting that there was russian collusion. we had public officials that said there was evidence of collusion. never happened.
2:58 am
>> and, of course, chuck todd pushing back. joe, what's it going to take tort mainstream media to finally years later admit their outsized role in pushing that hoax? >> hmmm waterboarding, probably, todd? i think that's the only thing that's actually going to have any of the results and any contrition. any apology. look, when republicans go on meet the press, it's not to be interviewed. it's to be interrogated and debated. with the moderator in this case chuck todd always taking the side and using talking points from the democratic national committee. that sound you hear from time to time on sunday mornings, that's not a train going by. it's the late, great tim russert turning over in his grave. when he moderated that program, clean-up is the longest running in television history, he was tough but fair to lawmakers from both sides of the aisle. chuck todd, meanwhile, is hostile to any conservative guest in the hosp hospitable-toe

on the democratic side. his retirement cannot come soon enough. happy father's day, i believe by the way. >> carley: we still have 1 point and 15 seconds. we have full-time for you in the time we have left. >> all right. >> carley: ron desantis is going to be out in california. he has been spending time in iowa and new hampshire. now he's going to the state where he has been famously battling with the governor interest, what do you think about that? >> i think that could be a preview of a presidential matchup one day, right? because if the choice is between hey make america california and make america florida, boy, that's one heck of a debate based on very basic issues do you like taxes? do you like homelessness? poverty, tent cities, crime being high or low and you go down the line. most people are leaving california for places like florida. desantis vs. newsom, boy, we would like to see that one day. i have got to fix my clock. sorry i thought we were out of

time before. happy father's day. >> carley: happy father's day to you too. you have two beautiful kids. >> todd: happy father's day to you, my friend. >> joe: it was a nice day yesterday, right, to have a father's day party which i hosted. it was all fun now i have got to go. >> carley: all right. "fox & friends" starts right now have. a good day, everybody. >> will: we begin with a fox news alert. secretary of state antony blinken meeting with xi jinping earlier this morning in beijing. >> ainsley: blinken saying after the meeting that he believes the two countries can work to find the right way to get along. >> brian: all right. alexandria hoff is live in washington with the latest. alexandria, what took place? >> this is a meeting nobody thought was necessarily going to happen. at least it wasn't even publicized until 45 minutes before the meeting started before the two leaders shook hands that's according to "the washington post."
