a scary situation for these people and this company. >> bill: the coast guard out of boston is responding. stay on it and we'll keep oar eyes and ears open and hope for the best. >> dana: former special counsel john durham testifying on capitol hill this week. he led the four year investigation into the trump russia probe. what to expect from these hearings. i bet they could be spicy. >> it is going to be the talk of the week here, dana. good morning to you. durham's visit comes as house republicans are digging into, of course, the russia hoax but also what they call the weaponization of the d.o.j. as congress considers whether it will reauthorize the surveillance powers handed to the f.b.i. all eyes will be on durham this wednesday as he testifies under oath in front of the house judiciary committee about his 300-page report. as we all know now it concludes

the f.b.i. had absolutely no actual evidence of collusion between the trump 2016 campaign and russia when it launched that multi-year long investigation. and yet nobody has been jailed for this. no one has received jail time. house republican leaders allege a systemic bias and abuse of power within the d.o.j. they want to see major reforms. >> there are problems in the entire process with the fisa courts. in which people are not held accountable. people believe this needs to be changed. >> the democrat who promoted the russia/trump collusion hoax is trying to dodge a second attempt to censure him and accusing trump and republicans for political prosecutions. >> dana: we'll keep an eye on that this week.

what those 18 months might have looked like could have been different but imagine the joy upon hearing the news. >> oh, yeah, i think the joy for them must have been endless. worth pointing out also. i love studying american history. there were two union states, the state of kentucky and the state of delaware that didn't have an emancipation or free their slaves until december of 1865 which tells you to your point. communication was so slow back then beyond it being slow, it was the intention by many of these slave holders in the states to say we'll keep these folks in bondage as long as possible so we can get the free labor from them. so the fact that we're having a moment to celebrate and talk about these things is really critical and really important. as i think a lot of white folks say, you have to know where you came from to know where you are going. >> bill: your first answer about how far we've come. just last week we had tim scott
