businessman and adventurer hey mish harden along with a pakistani father and son as well as others. brooke singman has the latest on the operationally. brooke, what do you know? >> brooke: hey guys that's right. a rescue mission is underway for the titanic tourist submersible that went mittsing in the atlantic ocean. the submersible similar to this opened by ocean gate expeditions was taking a crew of five people 12,000 feet under water as part of the tour of the 19 12 titanic ship wreck. the tour costs 250z thousand dollars per person. so far reported french navy veteran and crew member paul harvey is on board along with ceo and founder and his teen-age son. the family releasing a statement saying saying quote we are grateful for the concern being shown our colleagues and friends and would like to request everyone to pray for their safety.

it's also believed uk billionaire hhammish harding is on the visit including his stepson tweeting my step dad hammish is on board the submarine thoughts and prayers. they lost communication just under two hours after it left. officials now fear it sunk too far down for rescue and only has enough oxygen to last under water until 12:00 p.m. on thursday. listen. >> the vessel was designed with a 96-hour sustainment capability if there was an emergency on board. and so we're using that time, making the best use of every moment of that time to locate the vessel >> brooke: ocean gate releasing its statement we are exploring and mobilizing all option toss bring the crew back safely. our entire focus is on the crew members in submersible and their

families. one coast guard veteran warning the situation is getting worse by the minute. listen. >> i would say it's getting probably pretty dire situation. it's going to be a very uncomfortable dark experience. lot of hope and prayers >> brooke: guys, if the calculations on timing are correct, rescuers have less than 70 hours to find the vessel before it runs out of air. todd carley. >> todd: brooke singman live for us this morning. brooke thank you. about three and a half total days, they have basically a little bit over two, 2-plus left worth of oxygen and raises a number of questions. the one question i have at this point is, i understand if this is at the bottom of the ocean it is going to be increasingly difficult to get it out, but why haven't we been able to find it, wherever it is, by now? you think of a black box on a plane. it is a honing beacon so you can find it even in a horrific event like a plane crash. this regardless what's happening is a pretty horrific event right now there should be a honing

beacon where people can find this vessel. >> it would be like finding a needle in a hay stack which is why this is so scary and we're learning about what a sub mursable is and it's different than a submarine. you're looking at a picture of it right now, a very small vessel. think about five people on board that and they know that the oxygen is depleting. and apparently you need somebody on the outside to open up the door to let everybody out. so it's not like they can let themselves out of this as well. and then i was reading that there was a cbs news reporter who did this exact mission last year in one of these submersibles to look at the titanic wreckage and he said, you may remember that the ocean gate submarine to the titanic got lost for a few hours last summer, too, when i was on board. >> todd: right. you would think in light of that and just in light of the dangerousness of a mission like

this, of a tourist mission, that's ultimately what this is, you would think they would have better plans in place like for an event walt like this. you're not driving to go see the statue of liberty you're going. >> ashley: we don't know what went wrong, apparently these submersibles are built if something goes wrong it rises to the surface. clearly -- maybe that happened here and they just haven't spotted this vessel yet but it is all hands on deck and people are saying it's a race against time. the coast guard has c-130 air crafts as well as a canadian p-8 aircraft and underwater sonar looking for this vessel. so it's an international mission at this point to find these people. five people on board, one of them is i guess the pilot of this vessel and then the other people it looks like paid to do this and it's a very expensive experience about $250,000. >> todd: you heard one person

who specializes in searches and rescues say the thing we can do at this point is pray and that's what we need to do. fox weather alert. tropical storm barreling toward in the caribbean with 40 mile an hour winds, it is expected to become a hurricane by tomorrow. meantime in the south, 29,000 americans under an excessive heat warning. >> ashley: the advisory spans over texas, louisiana, and mississippi with temperatures sitting in the triple digits for days on end. the feels-like temperatures nearing 120 degrees in parts of the lone star state t heat wave is fueling severe storms take leave at least six people dead across the country. senior meteorologist janice dean is here with our fox weather forecast. janice storms and oh, my gosh that heat. >> yeah, the heat is the number one weather related killer of people and i'm really concerned for the folks in texas and louisiana, because the heat is not letting up. and it's not just the heat it's the humidity, what it feels like, over 110 to 120 degrees in

some of these areas so it's really dangerous for people to be outside. so we have tropical storm bret one of the earliest to form out of the atlantic off the coast of africa and we have a wave behind that. what does that tell us? this could potentially be an active season i think, and here is the weather patterns that are steering, bret. we have this high pressure across the atlantic. that's going to continue this westward churn across the lesser antilles over the next 24-48 hours. low wind shear. what does that mean? it means we have the warm water and not a lot the tear this thing apart so we are expecting it to strengthen into a hurricane, moves over the lesser antilles. we'll see shear increase and that could actually hinder it from, you know, getting stronger as it makes its approach towards the caribbean. so we're going to have to watch this this weekend. here's the trajectory. if it moves south of the

dominican republic and cuba it will be a weaker storm. if it kind of moves a little bit more towards the north and east, then it will be a stronger storm but will probably curve away from land. so bottom line is, we're going to have to watch this. it will become our first hurricane of the season and it is very early. here is the seasonal forecast, take this with a grain of salt because although we're expecting an average season in terms of storm numbers, it takes one on your doorstep to make it a terrible year. looking at the forecast today, severe storms across the gulf coast, that heat remains for parts of texas and louisiana, and then we're going to see some storms for the mid atlantic as well as the rockies. so so much to talk about foxweather.com has you covered. but to see bret this early on so far out in the atlantic when we typically see these storms august, september, that might be --. >> ashley: one to watch. >> todd: scary stuff. >> ashley: janice thank you so much >> you won't believe this an

zero. >> ashley: fred fleitz is the vice chair of the center for american security at american first policy institute and former chief of staff at the national security council under former president trump and he joins us now. fred, good morning to you the. >> good morning. >> ashley: you served in national security positions for decades, and this indictment does say that the former president could have put our national security at risk. so how do you feel about that response from the former president yesterday? >> well, i'm really appalled at this indictment because mr. trump is being charged under the espionage act a law that was passed to prosecute people who were going to commit espionage, spy against this country, give our secrets to other countries. donald trump wasn't trying to do that. nobody thinks that. this is an abuse of the law for a political prosecution against a former president. >> todd: do you think he should have just handed over the documents per bret's question? >> you know, i take the president at his word.

these were -- there were hundreds of documents, hundreds of boxes of documents here, maybe a quarter of one box had some classified documents. just like we've seen documents in president biden's house and his home office. most of these boxes were full of personal items, clothing. i think that we should look at what happened here and we're not getting the whole story. >> ashley: fred, you and several other national, former national security officials wrote a letter to congress essentially telling them that they need to look into who the fbi is giving security clearances to and you say that the durham report proves that, john durham by the way is going to be testifying on capitol hill later today. what do you mean by that? >> well, look, durham makes it very clear that the fbi failed its responsibility of strict fidelity to the law by pushing a bogus investigation for political reasons. now, what the letter that the american-first policy institute put forward is, there has to be

accountability. who gets clearances, how can they be revoked? everybody involved in this fraudulent investigation, crossfire hurricane, the russia/trump collusion hoax, everyone involved in that should lose their security clearances. we want to know how are they allocated and how can they be pulled? >> todd: beyond just the security clearance aspect of this, let's face it, durham's going to be in a seat obviously we're not going to necessarily watch this because it's behind closed doors but what else should republicans press durham on? for instance, aim thinking, why were there not so many arrests in your own probe, mr. durham. >> no, that's a really good question. durham talks about many, many instances of unethical and probably illegal behavior. why were so few people indicted. but i think more important, there's something called a clinton plan intelligence mentioned by durham. this is the effort by hillary clinton's campaign, approved by hillary, to push this false russia collusion narrative to

hurt trump and trump's campaign. why were people involved in this not indicted. why was hillary clinton not indicted. who were the unnamed clinton campaign officials mentionedd in the report? can the committee find out their names? can they also be forced to testify. >> ashley: fred a big report out in the wall street journal this morning titled beijing plans a new training facility in cuba raising prospects of chinese troops on america's doorstep. discussions for the facility on cuba's northern coast are at an advanced stage but not concluded. us intelligence reports suggest. i can imagine this is something secretary of state anth any blinken brought up yesterday. how much of a threat is this and does the united states have the power to stop this facility from going in. >> i don't think we should assume blinken brought that up. i think blinken's purpose was to ease tensions with china and to say whatever he had to say to get them to let up. the whole meeting was

millionaires and billionaires that like to take risk, they take big risk in business, they take big risk when it comes to something like this. anyway, the 58-year-old unfortunately one of the people on board. the other thing i want to point out here is that, you know, the ocean -- the open gate the actually already tweeted recently about getting star lick on board the submersible. that's elon musk's internet company. star link, he built that, he's been helping the ukrainians with star link. so why we haven't found the vessel i think is a little surprising. you do worry about a catastrophic event which they've discussed as a possibility as they continue to search for it and also why have we not found it especially with today's technology. and, carley, i'll send it back to you guys but you did mention this earlier in the show and i want to kind of repeat this that that cbs reporter when he was on board he said he noticed it was a little bit of hodgepodge of different pieces of technology including a gaming controller that was used for steering so.

>> it's hard. it's really hard thinking about her and thinking about everything that she had to suffer. it's hard. >> carley: she was a beautiful girl and a relative of yours wrote on facebook that your daughter was shy, quiet and a caring young lady. she was eight months pregnant and her baby, your granddaughter, was born by an emergency c-section i know you got to visit her. what was that visit like? >> very emotional. she looks just like samya. it was hard seeing her just hooked up to all those machines and but she's so strong and she's coming along. >> carley: good. dc police say that this could have been a targeted attack but they don't know the motive. do you think that this was

targeted? do you know of anybody that would want to hurt your daughter? >> no. samya was loved by everybody. she was just a bubbly person. i can't imagine who would want to do take to her. >> carley: so do you think she was just at the wrong place at the wrong time? >> absolutely. absolutely. >> carley: could this be because of a rise in violence in washington, dc? what do you think about that? what could have leded to this? >> i still need answers myself. >> carley: i know. >> it's really, really terrible. there's a lot that's going on in dc and samya she always said, mom, i just want to move. i don't want to be here. >> carley: why did she say that? >> because of the violence.

because of everything that we see on social media about people being just gunned down in the city. she wanted to move to another state. >> carley: wow. well, i know that you're processing so much right now and like i said we thank you so much for coming on during this difficult time. what do you think you want your granddaughter to know about your daughter? what are you going to tell her when she gets older? >> that she loved her so much and she just wanted to be the best mother that she could be for zailey. she was just so ready to hold her. she says, mom, i want you to come in the room with me, and i'm going to let zailey that her mother worked so hard for her and she loved her so much. >> carley: she did. i just had a baby four and a half months ago and i know that feeling that you have when

of the office of management and director joins us now live in studio. russ, good morning to you. one of the things about this electric vehicle push is a lot of the parts and technology are made in china. >> the entirety of the electrical vehicle agenda is cannot go forward without china. and that's one of the reasons why the biden administration has pushed it so much and why they have incentive to keep good terms with china, which is a country that we need to confront increasingly more. and unfortunately you, our corporate leaders are part of that you just saw that in that clip. they want everything to go on as it has for the last 20 years as opposed to an economic decoupling that would cause corporate leaders to pause and bring things back onshore. and there is $430 billion signatures out there with regard to these ev subsidies that congress passed as part of an earlier biden bill. but, it allows them to continue to work with chinese companies as opposed to having a firm break from those.
