"the five" starts now. ♪ ♪ >> dana: hello, everyone, i am dana perino, judge jeanine pi pirro, jessica tarlov, joey jones. it is 5:00 in new york city and this is "the five." ♪ ♪ happy birthday, america. we are celebrating our nation's independence with a fun filled show ahead including a patriotic trivia challenge i will definitely win. just kidding. who will be crowned this year's champion? stay tuned to find out. we are facing off with a

supermarket addition -- we will answer your fan mail questions and have a brand-new segment for you, looking back at our fourth of july favorite memories. but first, "the five" summer fun extravaganza. ♪ ♪ we are diving into some summer topics to celebrate fourth of july. first up, but her up popcorn, hollywood summer blockbuster in season is in full swing butte >> can i come to your house tonight? >> sure. i don't have anything big planned, just a giant blowout party. you should stop by. >> why would we go to the middle of nowhere? for who knows how long? >> why? why? how about because this is the most important thing to ever happen in the history of the world appeared to those are just a couple of the big flicks hitting theaters. our all-time favorite blockbuster? we have some that are coming out

this summer, maybe they will be our favorite, you were saying in the commercial break, "barbie," can't wait. >> obviously come as a big collector of the toy. the barbie movie looks goofy, i won't see it. i want to see but i feel it is guilty of false advertising is "mission: impossible 7," is this technically the eighth installment of this film? they pulled the mission off the first seven times, is that not impossible? mission fairly difficult, but you never know. i'm excited to see it because he does his own stunts and he is a gangster, okay? there is a reboot of my favorite summer blockbuster series of all-time, which is "indiana jones" starring harrison ford, who i love. there is a little more cgi on this one from what i have been told, more like "temple of zoom" because he is not there for most of the stunts but i think it's meant to be a banger. >> dana: jessica, a lot of us turn to you for our entertainment recommendations. what do you have on your list?

>> jessica: i am so psyched about "barbie." >> dana: really? >> jessica: yeah. >> dana: okay. >> jessica: i love ryan gosling and ma margot robb. greta gerwig is a champion, everything she does i think is fantastic. they are making such incredible fun of barbie and the ridiculousness of this and all set this world that it seems obviously dumb but also very smart. one of the promos, they get arrested, ryan gosling holding up his nameplate and it says "and can" because he was never can, it was barbie and ken. independence day was my favorite all time. >> dana: i remember going with my parents to see "independence day." what about you, judge? >> jeanine: you know, i don't have a favorite from this list. [laughter] first of all, "barbie," that is not one of the ones i'm going to

see. i wouldn't watch it on a plane. what i celebrate, fourth of july, "top gun," to me, that is kind of a goal get 'em fear that i would probably be my favorite fourth of july movie. >> dana: on this list, "little mermaid" is your favorite? >> joey: i'm waiting for her to come out at home because i'm a little cheap and lazy that way, it's not coming on until september for me. the two i really honed in on the most are "oppenheimer" and "barbie" because they come out on my birthday. and those two are like two sides of one personality, a whole bunch of pink, some more ant bombs, that really sums me up. >> dana: can you tell us one thing you said in the break, you said you watch "the notebook." >> joey: the ryan gosling connection, i'm a big fan of margot robbie and everything she does come i think she's incredibly talented.

ryan gosling, people ever know him as noah, the dude who is a carpenter and he is poor and steals the heart of some rich girl and she treats him like complete garbage his whole life but he loves her anyway, even has kids with her, and then he dies right beside her, i think that is a cool movie. i watched it with a bunch of marines in iraq, that's when i watched it. we all walked away from that going "ma'am, she was horrible." [laughter] >> jessica: she came around. >> do you know why men are crying during "the notebook?" she was banking after being married 60 years of getting a single life back for a few years. now they die on a same day. >> joey: she treats him back and even in old age, i don't even know who you are. >> dana: i love the image of all of the marines watching "the notebook." up next, everyone loves a good summer vacation but please take your time on packing. in five people say that they always realize they forgot to pack something after they had arrived. top items left at home include water bottles -- who believes

that? deodorant, sunscreen, a hat. often you forget your hat. judge, you travel a lot. do you forget anything? >> jeanine: i always know my travel all the time and one thing i always forget is a can. it is never there for me. you know what i do? i pack things for one overnight and two overnights, so i just pull that out, pull that package out and it goes right -- >> dana: let's put a comb in that bag. >> jeanine: you know, dana -- >> dana: jessica? >> jessica: sunscreen, but it is intentional because the tsa rules. i really struggle with this. any good sunscreen, i know they make the mini ones -- >> joey: regulations giving you cancer. >> jessica: i love that we have got into a government problem already. but it is so expensive when you buy it wherever you are going, it's like $40 for it. i'm always like, please don't take it away. >> dana: sunscreen wipes? >> jessica: are those good? >> dana: sure. >> jeanine: they don't dry up before it gets from the box to

your skin? >> jessica: all right, problem solved. >> dana: how about you? >> i'm a professional traveler. this is what i have noticed. the things people forget are the things you can get when you get there. what's on that list? deodorant, toothpaste, you can get that. you are not supposed to forget the big things appear to me, big things, the beach or the road, i need a bluetooth speaker. you see my act? i'm kidding. not quite magic mike, it is tragic mike. a lot of chubby chasers out there. bluetooth speaker, charger, phone, i have a basic standard outfit i wear when i travel. why? because as a fox news personality i realized about a year ago that you are going to be in a lot of pictures you didn't know you are going to be in and one day i was at laguardia taking a picture with a guy, this is going on my fridge, oh, my god, i'm probably on a thousand fridges dressed as a circus clown so now i pack more efficiently. >> dana: how about you? >> joey: i do travel. i just came back from a cruise, and it is not what i forget to bring on vacation with me, it is what i forget to bring bad day and leave in the hotel room. you go on a cruise, get off the

boat, you are not going to be back to your stuff until you get on the boat. what am i forgetting? sunglasses, sunscreen, pretty much everything you need to get off a boat on a cruise, i left. >> dana: four pairs of sunglasses at the end? >> joey: things i have bought on vacation that i already owned at home are why i clutter. >> dana: this story of something i thought i had forgotten. i go to this conference in montana every year and we go out and peter and i go together, and one year we get there and it is hard to pack for because there's lots of different things. there is an outdoor component, there is an evening thing, you know these things. sessions. so i have my cowboy boots. and i put all my undergarments and the cowboy boots. >> jeanine: right. >> dana: i packed like five days before because i was really busy or whatever. we get to montana, unpacking, i gasp, peter says what? i don't have any undergarments here i'm panicking, literally panicking. there is one store in this tiny

town and i am like, what am i going to do, i was almost in tears, huge fight. i said it was his fault. at the last minute, he said something like, wait, did you put it in the shoes? there they were, in my cowboy boots. i never told that story out loud. up next, break out the radio, summer music playlist, you know i'm tuned into the country station. what other songs are we tuning into the season? what do you like, joey? >> joey: "way down under on the chattahoochee." for joey jones. >> jessica: i'm still in a taylor swift, gone to the concert, realized the prices will never drop. so taylor swift and the new miley cyrus. but i always think of summer as a kind of throw back. i get it, things are -- dua lipa

has had a few amazing ones, but i like listening to stuff i know all the words to in the summer. >> dana: i was at a wedding, the joe barakat a band in new jersey covered the miley cyrus flowers song and they were fantastic. what about you, judge? >> jeanine: i love miley cyrus and i love the new song. morgan whalen. >> dana: that's a great song. >> jeanine: that's about it. >> i will cosign the judge on morgan whalen. a lot of leonard skynyrd, they call me the breeze, zz top, sharp dressed man, now "sharp dressed them," but stayed with me. on the highway specifically, 80s retro, tears for fears, "everybody wants to rule the world" is a great 80-mile-an-hour song. >> joey: best song on "the guardians of the galaxy" ride.

"the five" continues in a moment but first the special report news break of a federal judge has blocked key biden administration agencies and officials from meeting and of big tech companies in a ruling that has potential to change how social media is used. the injunction is in response to a lawsuit brought by republican attorneys general who claim the government engaged in censorship. at least three people were killed and eight wounded in a mass shooting at a fireworks display in fort worth, texas, last night, and in philadelphia, five people are dead and two children are

into mount rushmore. family ranch 80 miles west of there. i have nostalgia for they are, i love the fireworks. amazing american landmark. >> joey: so glad i copied off you on that mountain. fourth of july, my favorite fourth of july memory is where i would like to go back to. i came home from leave and my buddy keith and i bought a bunch of fireworks and my dad owned the two lots add a cul-de-sac, not a neighborhood, just a road, a building with a garage door, shooting off -- you put them in the tube and they shoot up. the tube fell over and my dad ran in and pulled the door down and write when he got about 2 feet off the ground it shot in and the whole thing blew up inside. came out like a cartoon, his hair was all discombobulated. >> jeanine: you want to go back to that? >> joey: it was one of the most fun memories. >> jeanine: what did your dad think of it? >> joey: we did not shoot off anymore fireworks. >> jeanine: that might explain

why you were a demolition expert. >> joey: "expert" is a heavy word. >> jeanine: yes, you were a pair of if you could choose one place on the fourth, where would you be, jessica? >> jessica: when i was young we used to go to nantucket for the fourth, and it is beautiful there. everyone is in the best mood, they decorate the town. nantucket is great. >> joey: shoot your own fireworks there? >> jessica: i was like 4. >> jimmy: come to long island. at 4? >> jessica: you would have been one of the older people. >> jeanine: one of the things i love about the fourth of july as being on a boat in the water and seeing the fireworks. there is something that is very, you just love the country. you realize how great it is and how vast the expanse, it's wonderful. anyway, next question. this is from charlie z. what has been your favorite part of the summer so far? jimmy? >> jimmy: watching the yankees with my son. i have been to a bunch of yankee

games, just got back from st. louis where we got a little rowdy out there. the passion of the new york sports fan is unique around the country because everyone else just politely claps, we are cursing people out, it's been an honor. >> jeanine: dana? >> dana: peter's birthday party is always a big hit. the best part was my mom and aunt peggy sue, that was a big hit. >> jeanine: joey? >> joey: we had a party for my niece, first time in the new house to see all my friends and family there celebrating and there was a moment i just stood around and looked and thought, you know, this is really cool. >> jessica: watching cleo swim. like, she loves the water, and just the pounding of it and the blowback, and just watching -- >> joey: classes? >> jessica: we did. we dropped out because brian said it was ridiculous. >> joey: reagan come '86, fourth of july, that doesn't count. >> dana: before you were born. i have a similar think i'm a little earlier, '78, i was six years old, my dad was going to a conference back when your parents, you could take your spouse with you to a conference and they paid for everything so i got to go to washington, as well, and my mom -- over the fourth of july, right before fourth of july and my mom had a friend they went to high school with, worked at the white house during the carter administration and she scheduled air force one flights, so we got to go do a tour of the white house and i remember when we left washington, it was the night of the fourth of july, and i saw the fireworks outside the window of the plane over the washington monument, and come again, it is one of my earliest memories that i can very much remember. >> joey: afghanistan, july 4th, 2010, just about a month before things got crazy for me, i lost my legs on augusr

clearly because being the explosive guys, hey, can we do some fireworks? we did some players and made a little show for them, it was fun in the middle of where you don't want to be, you can make it feel like home. >> jessica: judge? >> jeanine: not a specific event, it is really a person that conjures up the fourth of july for me, and that person is ronald reagan. i have several books about him that i have read and i have read a lot of his speeches and there is something about him that just makes me so proud of this country. i couldn't go to an event in person, ronald reagan. >> jessica: favorite national monument. >> jimmy: that's a good one. national monument, the george washington monument because i got to go up in it when i was a little kid. >> jessica: george washington bridge. >> dana: i do love the jefferson.

>> joey: the korean war memorial because it's the forgotten war and also of the memorial people never talk about that when you see it, it takes your breath away. >> jeanine: i think all of the memorials. it just makes you stop and pause. all of the people who have lost their lives so we could live free and speak freely. it's very -- it just stops you. >> jessica: i wrote jefferson and then also shut out the grand canyon which was one of my best. >> jimmy: george jefferson? >> jessica: "one more thing" is up next. ♪ ♪
