their side. you know when i first moved here, i had nothing. then i found this church. if you're hungry, you know if they got it, they'll feed you. at least now i know i got help if i need it. i love my kids times infinity. there ain't a thing i wouldn't do for 'em. lisette warren, pennsylvania are warning people to lock the doors as they hunt for an escaped murder suspect continues but investigators say michael burham is a very dangerous mate using survivalist skills to evade authorities. they say it is possible he is armed and that he knows the surrounding area very well. welcome to a brand-new hour of fox news light by a arthel level hi eric. eric: hello everyone thank you for joining us i'm eric shawn. we are expecting an update from the police any moment now about the search to bring the news

conference to live for any moment now as it happens. investigators say burham use of bedsheets who climbed up in the roof of the warren county jail on thursday night. he is accused of murdering his girlfriend and kidnapping an elderly couple is stealing their car back in may. he drove the couple all the way from pennsylvania down to south carolina. cb cotton standing by live in warren county with what we expect in this news conference any moment. apartheid era, that is right any minute were expecting to get the update from state police. all day we watch a search for michael burham play out from the jail the first escape from from neighborhood street spread earlier this afternoon we watch u.s. marshals survey and later enter a home on a block only about a five minute walk from the jail. some had their guns drawn others carried shields up told police received a tip there may have been movement inside a home that is supposed to be vacant. late thursday night burham wearing a jail jumpsuit and jean jacket scaled down the backside

of the warren county jail using a makeshift rope this is the second time there's been a manhunt for him. after kayla hoskin was gunned out in new york knew the pennsylvania border in may investigators say burham fled the area after being named a suspect. officers that he went on interstate crime spree was later captured in south carolina. now come after that ordeal he was held on arson and burglary charges until this estate. police say they do not believe he is let the general area could be hiding in the woods. they say burham is a survivalist with military training giving him an advantage to living off the grid, listen. >> we are out conducted wooded searches i can tell you the train is very rugged. it is steep. we are using aviation assets to support their operations for there are a number of places you just have to go on foot. if you want to truly search it. it is taking a lot of time and effort to search those areas. >> the jail burham escape from
1:03 pm
his outside the allegheny national forest which is a little more than half a million acres. at this point drones and helicopters have been involved in the search. civil rights cb, thanks so much produce more been more than 72 hours since burham escape it how can they catch in plattsburgh and paul is a retired inspector within york city police department for good to see we just heard cb say half a million acres, how can police by the sky? >> is going to be tough especially due to his survivalist skills that he apparently has and reportedly he's got some military background as well. where most escapees flunk is the fact that concentrate greatly on getting up of the jail and once they are out they do not realize how hard it's going to be for them to survive and get away. so, what are the police going to be doing? reverse engineer his life from before he went into jail but what contacts he might have, accomplices who might assist
1:04 pm
him. people who may know in the area who might leave him something like a gun he reportedly have or if there is even someone with him. the other thing they're going to reverse engineer is this present life while he was in jail. they're going to look at things like who visited him while he was there if anybody. did he have any phone calls will he was in? they're going to be listening to other inmates. very often in prisons and jails of like the county jail in pennsylvania some of the inmates will be talking to law enforcement. they want deals, they are informants. they may be hissing on the prison wire so to speak some rumors how he did what he did and what he did. the longer this goes you have to say the more difficult it is going to be. yet for him because maybe he's running out of food, he has no water et cetera but also for the police because you have to say to yourself you have to expand the search area he may have got further away. eric: 72 hours can be a long time, the police looked at one
1:05 pm
house as we saw in the report, a vacant house. obviously they try to break into a house and steal the food and get close and they can change their attire and look completely different. >> very often these guys are found hiding in plain sight. they're going to be chasing down every lead they can predict set up a task force with the pennsylvania state pd has the lead. then the ticket on this they know the terrain. it is a first-rate organization for the going to be doing things in a rugged area like this are going to use dogs, going to try to pick up a sense of him in this area. as a chief said they're going to have to go on foot into places that are very inhospitable. the state police will also have which some police department's have our helicopters, and get above a certain altitude to look down and see if you see any signs of a fire or anything like that. there's also going to be a federal component in this likely the federal marshals. experts on the federal level
1:06 pm
fugitive apprehension. they are going to be looking again at places he might go where he feels safe. we have to recognize a search is going on in pennsylvania but he is from upstate new york. he went to school up there that's also where he is familiar with and where he's got family but he left a note for his father in the car that he fled into south carolina we probably will be looking a situation where they are looking in other areas as well. there's a footprint believe it or not i'll be down in texas he would not of gotten there by now but they're going to have to be cognizant of this this is where the feds are going to be help or you got to number two they're not far from the canadian bo border. these are areas known to this guy. they are going to be accounting for all these possibilities. look he's a very bad guy they're going to pull out all stops because you say bad what other type of dangers to residency mental to lock their doors, lock their car doors, don't leave their keys in the car. what of the crimes he is alleged to have committed is kidnapping an elderly couple in their car. not only did that he drove them
1:07 pm
all the way from pennsylvania down to south carolina. what does that tell you about a guy who would do something like that? >> is no stranger to danger. let's take the same in its or order. he apparently, and upstate new york is suspected in the rape and subsequent murder of his wife with whom he has a son and, he then ends up in pennsylvania likely fleeing from that crime. wasn't paa commits arson on his girlfriend's car, a burglary and then decides going to carjack this elderly couple. he takes their car. rather than leave them and take the car he takes them with him. they drive all the way to south carolina ultimately after a chase the police and i assume federal theories are tracking him he is ultimately apprehended down there. he left the elderly couple in a cemetery for they find the car that's what he found this note i am alluding to it ultimately they him. was it shoyu? it shows you he's desperate. this guy has been in jail, he
1:08 pm
does not want to go back. he knows what is waiting for him, heavy charges frequencies on the run paul let me interrupt to the news conferences starred in pennsylvania let's dip in and see what authorities have to say. >> burglary and related charges. during the late hours of thursday july 6, burham escape from the warren county jail. the escape is being investigated by the warren city police department. i don't want to pause there an a couple of local questions that have come to us i want to make sure we clarify. the city police department is handling the escape investigation, state police is handling the manhunt and search for burham the city police department does not operate the county or have any other association with it. and secondly, there was a question that came up about burham being out in the jail exercise area so late at night. i was asked if i could clarify that. the explanation has been provided to me is that it order
1:09 pm
to only allow a certain number of inmates out in the exercise area at any one time they got to have a schedule that schedule runs from fairly early in the morning till very late at night in order to properly accommodate the legal requirements for er time for the inmates. so let me come back to some things we know. burham was last seen wearing a denim jacket and orange stripe jumpsuit and crocs. as i've told you before we believe he may have and this likely change clothing. burham is a self-taught survivalist with the military reserve experience. we believe these previously prepared to conceal himself in the woods. and in the past 24 hours and since our last press conference we have searched numerous residences, abandoned stru structures, vast wooded areas all of the searches driven by tips or investigative decisions. as a result of the searches we
1:10 pm
have located some small stockpiles or campsites in wooded areas in the general vicinity of warren. we believe these sites are associated with burham. we have no reason to believe burham has left the general area. with that said, we received several tips or investigative leads from outside of the area and we are thoroughly investigating each and every one of those. none of them has caused us to change our assessment that he remains in this area but we are constantly reevaluating that position. we ask that people nationwide familiarize themselves with the picture of michael burham and please contact us if you believe you may have seen him. burham is armed and dangerous we ask anyone who thanks they may see him not to approach but again to call us. anyone with information is asked to contact pennsylvania state police warrant station
1:11 pm
(814)728-3600. as i have said all tips are being investigated regardless of where they are located. the united states marshals have offered a $7500 reward in warren county crime stoppers has offered a $2000 reward for information leading to his apprehension. this remains a very fluid and active investigation which is being conducted in conjunction with more than one dozen of our federal, state, local law enforcement partners and we are adding to those numbers nearly on an hourly basis. see cec talking about the manhunt for michael burham. paul, from what you have just heard one thing that strikes out at me as he is a survivalist with military training he may have preplanned some of this. he is going to be in the woods come is going to camouflage himself he could kill and eat wild animals, squirrels, who knows what he has. how does that complicate the
1:12 pm
search for him and the fact he may have changed close? >> obviously that is a complication for the fact he knows what to do in the woods let's you know he may be able to make his way deeper into the woods and very inhospitable a area. i should mention how hard it is in instances like this for police to find somebody who does not want to be found. i go back to the boston marathon bombing, remember the search for the second purpose in that instance half the city was looking for him ultimately they found him hiding in a boat very near to where they had been over. this is very tough stuff. moment was to conceal themselves can do pretty well if they know they are doing. now that said if he is in the area and i'm heartened by the fact they are saying these campsites do seem to go to him. but that takes off table potentially as he had accomplice waiting for him with a car so they got in a car and now he is five states away. that seems to be off the table
1:13 pm
if it is accurate the campsite goes to him. so, as i said early they will be looking at now is dogs, helicopters, all kinds of stuff we look inhospitable terrain for somebody who knows how to survive in the woods or thanks he knows how to survive in the woods. one of the things he cheats just said is he is a self-taught survivalist. i am not sure what that means but the woods will teach you how much you know and how much you don't know pretty fast he is by himself in the woods for 72 hours is going to get harder for him as time goes on. that is where he remade stress in the woods without any other support. at some point we have seen this in the past with one of the abortion clinic bombers in the day like this he was a survivalist use hanging out in the woods, eventually he had to emerge from the woods and burglarizing homes. that is when he exposed himself and they got him. the warning for people in the area to get the eyes open up or
1:14 pm
anything suspicious is very timely, very pertinent. the cops are doing the right thing. the main thing now publicize it as publicity as you can. you want everyone family with this guys face. as another photo of him with a shaved head he looks a little different you probably start to see that photo as well you do not know if he had the ability to do that but that's the most important thing we have to all note what he looks like a where he might be. eric: there's this photo right there folks if you are in the northeast may be down in texas even for quick also, texas according to his facebook that is where he has been. eric: nationwide a man have potentially for michael burham 34 years old. he also by the way was caught in the south carolina situation by a viewer who noticed him behind a shed evidencing the story about this on national television in his first crime. so maybe authorities got lucky on that, paul of the nypd, paul thank you so much.
1:15 pm
ask eric at this point as a combined $9500 on the table for a reward leading up to his apprehension. that number to call if you do run into him of course be worn he is armed and dangerous for the number again for pennsylvania escaped inmate tip line is (814)728-3600 portal keep you posted on that story it was on the most shocking and brutal crimes in american history. after decades behind bars and dozens of parole hearings one of the women convicted in the manson family murders could walk free and as little as two weeks. >> my actions were contemptible and they were without justification. arthel: leslie ben houston was a follower of the infamous manson family cult she was 19 years old when she took part in the savage 1969 murders in los angeles.
1:16 pm
that was the night after other manson family members killed five people including pregnant actress sharon tate. she has been serving a life sentence since her conviction in 1971. california governor gavin newsom has rejected her parole three times. but now he says in the further appeal to the supreme court would be futile. christina coleman is live with the very latest from los ang angeles. >> i arthel the details of this case are graphic and so disturbing. this convicted murderer could be released to a halfway house in just a few weeks to learn basic life skills based on the state parole board's decision. she served 53 years of her life sentence in prison in connection to the brutal stabbings of grocery store owner and his wife rosemary. they were found dead in their home with the words death to pigs and helter-skelter written on the walls in their blood.

and how tenant was 19 years old at the time. 2002 interview she addressed the manson cult killings. >> manson had spoke a lot of being willing to sacrifice ourselves and give ourselves over to the beginning of the helter-skelter. and my loyalty to him and my need to him made me want to go the second night. >> governor gavin newsom has read first parole grant three times since taking office for he is disappointed in the court of appeals decision to release her by the governor's office said newsom is not fighting the court's decision because he does not believe he will be successful this time around. and may the court ruled that how tenant now 73 years old should be released. cited remorse and what she says her extraordinary rehabilitative efforts for vaccination host nancy grace weighed in.
1:18 pm
>> she should absolutely not be released. there are some crimes for which there is no coming back. this is one of those crimes. when you look at her now she looks like a librarian that is not how she looked back in 1969 she took part in the murders of the family. >> the daughter of murder evicted expressed her great sorrow of the court's decision to the associated press on friday. she said her family is still heartbroken over the loss of their loved ones. arthel: christina: thank you. first of its kind federal court ruling means transgender youth in tennessee will not be able to get gender affirming care for now. lower courts have blocked bands of such procedures and five other states. but in a two -- one decision the
1:19 pm
sixth circuit court of appeals reversed the holes on tennessee trans healthcare cases should be left up to states let's go to senior correspondent jonathan siri he is live now. what does this mean in real-life terms? >> hi there arthel. tennessee law is still under appeal which the court hopes to resolve by the end of september. but in the meantime these judges have ruled the state can enforce its ban against transgender procedures but we are chocolate hormone therapies, surgeries, for minors. the tennessee legislature passed a law for critics of the procedures published a video of a doctor at vanderbilt university medical center talking about how these surgeries were highly profitable. vanderbilt sells in actuality it only performed an average of five such surgeries a year end then involved genital procedures are patients younger than 16. but it suspended gender affirming operations on minors to conduct a review several

months before tennessee's band was signed into law. advocates a gender affirming care reduces depression and suicide rates among transgender youth. critics say children are too young to make decisions to permanently alter their bodies. legal experts say state government do have a long history of setting a minimum age for many activities such as purchasing alcohol and driving a car. >> it might be unconstitutional to tell an adult that they cannot permanently alter their body in some way. however when we are talking about children, minors i think it's probably not unconstitutional in light of all of the other ways states can't regulate minors differently and states can regulate adults. >> aclu criticized the court's decisions in this ruling is beyond disappointing and a heartbreaking developed over thousands of transgender youth, their doctors and their

before secret service investigation how clean is brought into the white house is expected to rub out this week. we now know the drug was found in an area of the west wing guests and members of the public and different private tours but reports say the bag of cocaine the little baggie was found in a cubby hole where people leave their cell phones and other electronics before they go on the tour. meantime secretary treasurer john ellis underwood back from beijing from a top chinese economic officials, no major policy discussions were made or decisions were made during the trip. which has caused controversy. lucas thomason following all of the new developments he is on the north one of the white ho house. i lucas. >> hey i gag it was just held air force one sadly no reporters asked about the cocaine so we do not have made it up to print however as you mentioned president biden is heading east to europe his treasury secretary returning home from a trip to china. on fox news said it lawmakers
1:26 pm
from both sides of the aisle reacted to the visit. >> two-seat secretary yelena bowing down repeatedly in china, it is embarrassing it's emblematic of this administration requested to most powerful nations in the world have to communicate to avoid unnecessary escalation at. nobody in the united states wants to see it an unnecessary military skirmish with china. >> eric, this is what's senator barrasso. sanitary yelena bowing repeatedly critics accessibly does not look like the courtesy was reciprocated by her chinese comments counterpart senior treasury official told reporters candidly while flying back from china there are no specific policy breakthroughs in the visit. this is a follow-up of course is a recent visit by secretary of state which also had no breakthroughs instead it establish what the official called a quote floor in the relationship reestablishing contact meeting to new economic team and hearing from them but kobe does not discuss we did not
1:27 pm
hear anything china through the giant spy crept across the united states back in february before shutdown but i digress for here at the white house investigation continues into who brought cocaine to the west wing. some people want to see the entire white house staff lined up outside and drug tested the cocaine was found exactly one week ago. medical personnel say cocaine gets out of the system quickly, can show up on it urine, blood or saliva test only for up to two -- three days a heavy user we are told can test positive on it urine test for up to two weeks. let's take a look of the crime scene again the cocaine was found on the ground floor of the west wing issue mentioned near where visitors begin tours not far from where i'm standing. visitors are supposed to leave their mobile phones and those copies and other excess items. officials say the investigation should be wrapped up it is expected to be completed early this week we are not sure if we're going to hear suspects listed we have been warned many officials are pointing to a white house staffer is the culprit. spoke to sub's yell and
1:28 pm
apparently vowing to in her chinese counterpart meanwhile in terms of potential white house staffer or someone else what a staffer at leave it in a cubbyhole for visitors? you're supposed to put your phone there, is it possible someone had the cocaine stashed in their and thought they would get in trouble if they didn't take it back it did not want to bring the cocaine in the white house, any indication of someone forgot a comment left at their own purpose of the sort of thing? was it sure looks that way, eric. what we have been told is people who are addicted to cocaine cannot leave home without it. the fact the cocaine was brought to the white house not with at home somewhere else i think is very telling about who the suspect is. support will wait for the investigation lucas thank you for a little later in our newscast we will get a report from jacqui heinrich who is in london where the president is due to land in about an hour or so. he will be meeting with king charles tomorrow and onto the nato summit later this week. jacqui heinrich coming up in a

live report in a few moments here on fox news. >> we are doing what it takes to win. it's not a national primary that is not how these things are going. it is really on the ground in those key states pretty got to have the organization. that is what we have focused on. arthel: with just over a month until the gop first scheduled presidential debates the desantis campaign seems to have stalled. the florida governor is still trailing former president trump by over 30 points and our latest fox news pole. joining us now james freeman assistant editor for the wall street journal editorial page and a fox news contributor. so james, why can't desantis find his footing? >> well, i do think it is early i'm not sure is not finding his footing. and remember, all of those people who are not choosing trump or desantis are probably desantis voters once their
1:30 pm
candidate ends up quitting. arthel: now his wife casey will be more present on the campaign trail but how can casey desantis help the florida governor? >> well, she is obviously very helpful. it is odd that even as you have come into media criticism because the couple have two good of a marriage or something like that. look, i think he's got a great story to tell. i don't think people should be panicking if there hoping he is the guy. this is still very early. he doesn't need to build an organization that is what you do in a campaign. he's got a very strong record in florida. you look at polling across the swing states it is pretty consistent. fight it a slight edge over trump. desantis but the slight edge over biden. when you go to head to head match ups. that how it looks.
1:31 pm
states across that matter. it may take some time desantis has a good story to tell new side pointed out today in a paper that in 2008, 2012, and 2016 at this time the eventual winner of the iowa caucus was in single digits. i think you do need to take the polling with a grain of salt especially at this point. arthel: we do know it to come with any preconceived notions before it's time to vote we have not inserted the debates yet. and of course you must win the primary to make it to the national. trump knows how to do that da dance. how can desantis go toe to toe with trump? is that necessary? >> that is right. as you point out and we have seen beating donald trump and republican primary is not easy. this is a guy who has shown he
1:32 pm
can win over a lot of republican voters. he struggles to attract boats outside of the republican party. i think that's going to be part of the desantis case to say it look how i was able to build a huge bipartisan coalition in florida in what used to be a swing state. this is a republican who won at miami-dade county and his gubernatorial reelection campaign. that is not normal. he is showing he can build a broad coalition that is what you worry about with trump. even if you love he is fighting for your issues. and i think in desantis what you have is someone a trump voter can trust to be tough enough on the issues they care about. i think that has really been the big question and it will for this primary season, republican voters generally go to donald trump in desperation because they thought the establishment of the republican party could not be trusted and let them d down. i think the track record in
1:33 pm
florida allows desantis to persuade those people were a lot of other possible candidates maybe cannot make that argument. he has a state with the largest senior population and obviously could've been very easy to embrace the fear program on call that he didn't and he deserves great credit for that. >> listen it is indeed a long and winding road until we go to the polls. we will continue watching for james freeman thank you very right back. thani k you. you should get a second opinion from innovation refunds at no upfront cost. sometimes you need a second opinion. arthel: it is at 9:30 7:00 p.m. in london president biden is on his way there expected to land next hour. they are will meet king charles for the first time since he took the throne. after that he's off to lithuania where he is said to speak at this week's nato summit. jacqui heinrich is live in london, jackie.
1:38 pm
>> hey there, arthel paid the presidents meeting with king charles the center focus on climates. the bigger for the president in london and lithuania at the nato summit will be justifying his decision to provide cluster bombs to ukraine which has been banned by more than 120 countries. >> we are not signatories of that agreement. it took me a while to be convinced to do it. the main thing is that either have the weapons to stop the russians now to keep them from stopping the ukrainian offensive to these areas, or they don't. and i think they needed them. >> a key factor in the decision, russia has facing cluster bombs on ukrainian soil since the beginning of the invasion the landlocked bd mind anyway ukraine also committed to postwar cleanup and u.s. officials point out they have huge incentive to mitigate risk to their own people.
1:39 pm
the move drew opposition from nato allies canada, spain, germany and the uk as well as some congressional democrats. >> i have some real qualms about it. if there is an international prohibition in the u.s. is but this is a good reason to do something different, they could give a green light to other nations to do something different as well. so it causes me some concern for. >> dangerous weapons this is a line i do not believe we should cross. >> russian foreign ministry was quick to seize on the white house position from last year. >> there are reports of illegal cluster bombs in a vacuum bombs used by the russians. if that is true what is the next step of its administration? >> if that were true it will be a war crime affects another focus bided strip will convince turkey to less weight into nato. but it is expected to meet with
1:40 pm
turkish president and part of it will be requesting fighter jets from turkey and from greece. biden's last stop on this trip will be a trip to new nato member, finland. arthel: not like a beautiful night in london. ms. jacqui heinrich thank you very much. stay for the latest job report hiring slowed in june it's at its lowest point since late 2020. about 209,000 jobs were added to the economy with the unemployment rate falling slightly to 3.6%. treasury secretary janet yellin sank those numbers are not such a surprise. she is also not ruling out a recession. >> is not completely off the table. but we would expect, with the job market as strong as it is now to see a slower pace of ongoing job gains. super capitol management ceo fox news contributor gary joins us
1:41 pm
now. so the unemployment rate is at the lowest it has been and more than half a century. so why are some economists concerned about what could be coming? >> because while they number 36 is extra great number there are some what they call termites underneath the surface just chipping away. the 10 year yield on the bond went over excuse me the mortgage rates are over 7% right now because the 10 year yield it's going up her then there is the consumer which has me worried. they are still spending, and a chart of savings rates which have plunged in credit card usage which has skyrocketed that is a worry some of the consumer being nearly 70% of the economy, something to watch great mite mantras one folder's longest job stay strong we are okay but if we lose the job market there is a little ledge here watching it very closely.
1:42 pm
eric: what could possibly start an erosion in the job market? >> higher interest rates, a worsening stockmarket partner but something called a wealth effect we have had an excellent first half of the year. so people start to feel poor it feeds on itself. once a job starts heading south they don't usually just go south a little bit they usually go for a while. so again i am loving the fact we are 3.6%. every month i almost waiting for trouble. but right now things are good just watch the things you see i was in the airports a few times in last three or four weeks. very, very busy. consumers are spending on travel as well as other things and lastly by the way the inflation rate is down to 4% but still high. oil prices are now starting to tick up again. if we start to see oil prices take up that is another issue, another termites as i speak that we have to watch.
1:43 pm
