10:02 am
charles' coronation. >> john: his stop in london may be the easy part of the trip as the president's comments over nato membership and move to give widely banned cluster bombs with ukraine will need to be sorted out with skeptical allies. >> sandra: mike pompeo is standing by. but first, alex hogan is live on the ground in london for us. did president biden, alex, manage to accomplish anything during his quick stop to england? >> well a really packed day of meetings that he had here in london and outside of the city, all of it culminating with the trip to see king charles iii, but the focus to underscore the strong relationship between the u.s. and strongest ally, the u.k., and president biden called it "rock solid". final stop was meeting at windsor castle with king charles iii, the first trip since may, dr. jill biden did attend and president biden did not.
10:03 am
one of the main focuses of the meeting was climate concerns, and earlier this morning biden met with his british counterpart prime minister rishi sunak discussing the economic ties outlined in the atlantic declaration, as support for ukraine and whether sweden would join nato. that could have more potential today since erdogan said the country could approve it if turkey can finally join the european union. turkey has largely stood in the way of sweden joining nato, claiming the country is supporting kurdish groups that ankara believes are terrorists. in london, president biden did not take a lot of questions from the press, he dodged questions specifically about his phone call conversation with erdogan. however, he did reiterate the importance of being here was to stress the relationship between the u.s. and the u.k. and now the trip moves on. he's currently in lithuania as the nato summit is only about to

stop having ukrainian killed and the risk of putin to do it years and years to come. and they are allowing it to continue. security arrangements in the aftermath of this, there will be a day when this ends, you know. i don't know whether it's as important whether ukraine is in nato or out of nato, but for the american interest, the thing that president biden needs to make absolutely clear is we don't want to see this happen again. we had 70 years of peace, for four years we deterred vladimir putin in the trump administration. we need to put together a security arrangement, architecture for another 6 or 7 decades. it is possible to do. that means bringing them inside the nato formula, so be it. the focus today has to be on bringing this to a conclusion that demonstrates to the world that aggression by folks like vladimir putin is simply unacceptable. >> john: to your point, mr. secretary, given them what they need to win, the most recent

inventory of 155 rounds. whatever they are, you shouldn't be telling your adversary that you have a problem, you have a supply chain set of issue, you shouldn't brag about that, shouldn't use it as an excuse to do something. that's the kwieest part. the task is to fix that and make sure you do have the things you need. there's no doubt xi jinping, vladimir putin heard that. the good news is, i'm not sure president biden knows the answer to that, we have seen him misspeak before, so i would not take to the bank what he said is an accurate reflection of america's ability to deliver munitions. last thought on this, there's this story line about the cluster munitions. if this is what the ukrainians need we should make sure they get to the right place, they don't end up in the hands of the folks we don't want them to. russia has used a similar armament against the ukrainians, i'm troubled by that, but what's in america's interest. and america's interest to make

10:09 am
i'm sure i've done a few things in public like they were reflex or what have you. but bowing three times to this, her counterpart is exactly what the biden administration has done for its whole two and a half years. this is the third i think, maybe now soon fourth trip of a senior american to china without a single chinese official, senior chinese official travelling here. demonstrated weakness like talking about a minor incursion in ukraine, or what happened in afghanistan, resulting in the death of 13 americans. add that to the fact that you are saying out loud, hey, we don't view this as a conflict with the chinese communist party. xi jinping views it as a conflict. it's not just rhetorical, but consistent with their entire model of provoking conflict through weakness, that's the danger. we have seen it now in europe, i'm afraid we may see it in china and asia, america is better than that, we are bigger
