tornado reports in and around the chicago area, we had several yesterday, moving through the chicago metro, damage reported, thankfully no deaths. threat for severe storm for widespread region from the northeast back to the plain states to the northern plains. large hail, heavy rainfall. we had historic rain for parts of the northeast and batches of showers and thunderstorms moving in over the next few days, causing issues. the ground is saturated, streams and rivers at the breaking point. rain will cause issues and we'll be watching as we go through monday. several inches of rain in the forecast for the northeast and parts of the great lakes. that heat remains in place for the next week or so. we have this dome of high pressure that continues to be anchored across the southwest and texas.

now. you are shutting your door for the first time in 17 years, tell us why. >> just because of the crime happening. it has been going on two years, but this summer has been outrageous. we decided for the safety of staff and customers to shut the door. we hope it is temporary, we have to have city officials and police and mayor's office figure out a solution for the problem. >> carley: what was the final straw for you? >> we've been thinking about closing for a little bit because of safety issues and my brother worked last saturday and the three shootings and one ended in a fatality, the next morning we decided, enough is enough and made the decision and it was a difficult decision. >> carley: wow, three shootings in one night. my goodness. is there anything being done to

address this crime? >> not really. we've had 50 meetings with other bar owners and residents, with city officials, mayor's office, police and seem like they talk a big game, but nothing is really gotten done and that is the sad thing about it and all we want to do is stop the violence. it is not a political issue, it is a public safety issue, stop the violence from happening. >> carley: you say there could be a solution with more cops and a curfew, tell us about that. >> yeah, we used to have 32 police officers working on the south side and now we have maybe four or five, they are understaffed, undermanned and we respect the police, my grandfather was a city cop. we need them down there.
