carly russell called 911 on thursday she was driving on the highly told police there was a toddler walking alone on that highway right outside of birmingham. when police got there they found her car and a cell phone but there is no sign of her or that child. police say last night after 11:00 p.m. she suddenly knocked on her home's door, studding her family. paramedics took her to the hospital for they say she isn't being evaluated. right now there is no word on if indeed there was a toddler or exactly what happened. police also say they have not received a call at all about any missing child in the area. arthel: eric, investigators on long island and new york say cell phone records and dna on a discarded pizza crust led them to crack the infamous cold case of the gilgo beach murder spree thursdays for arrest of rex heuermann for three of the murders coming more than a dozen years after the first of 11
9:11 am
victims remains were found he is also the prime suspect in a fourth murder but let's bring it right now forensic pathologist fox news contributor doctor michael, good to see you. if you could first explain the process of matching rex heuermann's dna found on that piece of crossed with the bodies of melissa barthelemy, megan waterman, and amber costello. >> it is interesting when the four bodies were removed from the burlap bag, examination of the contents of the bag showed five hairs. five individual hairs and most of them attached to duct tape he used he tied the bags up. and so to duct tape is a terrific forensic tool because
9:12 am
it captures fingerprints, dna in this case it captured individual hairs. nothing much was done until the new team came in just a year ago they still had those hairs and examinations of the hair not for dna did not turn up any genetic dna nuclear dna that comes from both parents. but it did turn up mitochondrial dna at different dna that comes only from the mom. four of the hairs had female d dna. they went to the trash of the house and got some bottles out that matched the dna from his wife. they thought was to transfer dna from what he had in the car or on his hands when he got to the
9:13 am
duct tape. one strand not a strand a single hair had a mail dna from one of the decedent's, waterman. that's when they went after the pizza. they swabbed the pizza he had discarded at his workplace in manhattan. that dna showed the same dna as him. that is what made them able to arrest him, amazing. arthel: absolute amazing absolutely the investigation is ongoing. ten other bodies were found on gilgo beach beach between 2010 and 2011 including another victim he is not charged in that case but now that rex heuermann's dna has been gotten
9:14 am
in those other bodies be exhumed for potential dna match and after so long how easy or difficult is that process? >> it would be very difficult. much of the dna the three who arrested did not show any of the genetic dna because of decomposition. they got hairs decomposed hair and teeth decomposed readily. but i think what has happened remember we had joan rifkin another long island in the 80s and 90s killed more than 17 workers. when he was caught for one case he confessed to all of the others. so did sam when he confessed what he had done and in new york city in the 70s. i think two things happening now with the district attorney they have a lot of information on the seven or eight other cases.
9:15 am
if he confesses they could corroborate that. i think, just for my experience over 50 years with serial murderers they do not dump their cases together where other people have dumped cases. i think we want of the possibilities as he killed all 11 of the people. and if he confesses to it they will not have to do any further examinations. and also the publicity that has developed in this investigation, there may be other people coming into the task force with additional information as did heuermann one of the decedents of pimps who came forth two years ago and said he had seen a big guy, the last person with amber costello had an odd looking chevrolet avalanche,
9:16 am
green car 2010 the task force went back and checked on the registrations of those cars and sure enough heuermann owned such a vehicle. they're getting a lot more information because of all the publicity of people who did not know what was going on in 2010. this is a disturbing case of course it is shocking given that the suspect is an architect, married with two children per you have seen it all doctor baden you have researched many infamous cases what you see of those listening to us who are stunned by heuermann's profile? >> it is amazing. part of the amazement with serial murderers is they've got to be smart enough not necessarily intelligent enough but smart enough to get away with murders. a lot of murderers now get caught if they did not get
9:17 am
caught would commit more murders. that is one of the reasons a bunch of police departments carefully going through all of their records to see if there are any other unknown murders that were not solved. because what did he do in the 12 years since 2010 and now? the task force is already found he did keep using the burner telephone, cell phones that help them in locating him. andso there is a lot more to coe with heuermann there's also parts of a bodies found that will also present in a manner builtbelt that's another place y have been committing murders that they are looking for. we have not heard the last of him. if he confesses then they have
9:18 am
supporting evidence if he does not confess they may want to go and look further. all of the dna evidence they got here was not from the bodies it was from the clothing and from the burlap bags that had the hairs and then and the duct tape. arthel: doctor michael baden your work is always a fascinating thank you so much for joining us. >> thank you arthel great to see you. eric: it is an doctor baden is a legend. trump and desantis are both on fox news this morning. trump tells desantis go home. desantis said that media is against him as we countdown to the fox news republican debate. we will have the latest i what they and the others say as "fox news live" continues on this sunday. that's why subway's proffered by this champ. and this future champ. and if we proffer it, we know you'll proffer it too.

9:35 am
you can see the manifestation of that with a lot of the areas in the calculations he hasn't made with regard to his invasion of ukraine. it is one of his achilles heels. eric: that is fascinating pre-tele from your view in your experience on the ground in ukraine, get inside putin's mind. if no one tells the boss know he has a bunch of yes men. that sent him off the deep end. >> in a net share shall vladimir putin has narcissistic personality disorder. he had problems before covid. covid made him even more paranoid. he believes in his false doctrine that ukraine is actually part of russia that ukrainians are not their own independent sovereign people and independent sovereign nation. it is a warped mind is set, erica. we sou saw a lot in the fbi when tracking a lot of criminals. they are trying to get inside the mind of someone like this you cannot think with a normal person's mindset. you cannot think of summit with

9:38 am
referred to they are given a pathway but now you have a chicken and egg problem, eric, putin now knows the second the war ends ukraine is a nato. i would encourage our nato allies to do is to think outside the box f but perhaps provide conditional membership to ukraine without invoking article five. that would honestly draw the whole world into a world war which is unacceptable and we would not allow it to happen but if you have the chicken and egg situation perhaps conditional membership with the caveat article five can never be invoked for an ongoing conflict of a new entry or new member into nato. >> have been fascinating to see if they can float that, terrific idea. in terms of what they need, what should be set now question at trecords the army tactical missile systems they can strike like 190 miles ukraine is now striking supply depots behind the russian lines, should the administration get that material to them as soon as possible?
9:39 am
what else can we supply? >> yes, there is a whole list of items, erica. we have written, myself and my ukraine cochairs have written multiple times to the administration. bipartisan delegation by the house and senate asking for these items. it's all public information. it's basically munitions and equipment that will help break the russian trenches. right now the ukrainians are attempting a frontal assault on a fortified position. that is a tough circumstance to be in. from a military standpoint said they need the assistance to get behind enemy lines. they need air support and these clusters, albeit very dangerous weapons there's no question about it they are controversial but they will help break the trenches and these slides. eric: what about the other that they need how do you get them there? can they be? >> we cannot say it which routes they are taking and it's all scif discussion. but yes, they need them.
9:40 am
we have had a supply chain issue, eric, around the world. and this gets back to too many nato countries not keeping up with their 2% gdp military spent requirement. now they are fighting they are all running short on munitions. russia and contrast has been stockpiling for decades. they are not having the same inventory issues. they are taking on the entire west when it comes to the supply chain right now. hopefully a lesson learned there. eric: congressman fitzpatrick, thank you for your insight there are calls on the congressman to arm ukraine now thank you. >> thanks. arthel: congressman ed eric thank you. artificial intelligence is impacting more parts of society. every day it seems including the medical field but we will discuss that with doctor marc siegel. dr. marc siegel. you are watching fox news live. y improvements in remi's health.

this is science trying to help out. what makes embryo a good planet candidate for implantation? >> his a really important point. one of the things that makes it i already mentioned which is a genetics. there is a lot of nuance to this. that is where it machine maching comes in or the top embryology as we have one of the top at nyu who is used to looking at embryos. who is used to by the way in embryo appears under the microscope figuring out whether it would be a successful one or not. i am glad you emphasize this is part of god's plan there should be no controversy about this. this is a way of bringing life into the world. again at one -- 2% of live births. there is a high failure rate of this. so yes, doctors experience but guided by machine learning. but i've heard about ai in this context and want to differentiate very importantly for not talk about ai like chap

gpt which tells you what to do as a patient and you ask your doctor. there is controversy about ai telling you what to do. giving you answers. this is about ai as a doctors tool. we use it for radiology. it is not speculative it's already in place. we are using for cardiology, for assessing heart function and now we are ready to use it for embryology. this is coming from a company from israel called a ivf. that data showing 30% improvement in figuring out which embryo to choose using this, 30% improvement. i think it will be double that once ai gets going. the more data at your feet ai here is how simple ai is. the more data you feed it the more correct answer you get but that's another reason why i do not want ai making the decision i want ai giving suggestions. but we have a shortage of them. they are hard pressed for time so this is a tool.
9:49 am
arthel: it is, i wish this tool was around about 17 years ago. my husband and i went through everything from soup to nuts regarding ivf to try to get pregnant. we started by saying it's god's will we will go as far as we can with the help of technology. but stop when we feel we are tempting fate that is what we did. we don't have kids we have a lot of love and give in other ways. i will say goodbye before i start crying so thank you for this segment. >> you show a lot of love and you always have by the way it's great to be honored if you, thank you thanks arthel thank you.
