>> very quickly, this victim's sister got a call from the killer. two things. he is an amateur. he is so consumed by torturing other people that he overlooked common sense and left a trail. >> bill: nancy, more to come on this, really feels like we're in the early days of this and we'll talk again very soon. nancy grace, thanks. >> thank you for inviting me. >> dana: fox news alert happening now on capitol hill a combative hearing on the weaponization of government. alleged coordination between the federal government and big tech to silence speech and censor americans. welcome to a new hour of "america's newsroom," we're off to the races this morning. a lot happening. >> bill: today's big witness president biden's strongest challenger for the democratic
7:01 am
nomination robert f. kennedy junior. his testimony focusing on government efforts to censor opposing viewpoints including his own calling it a systematic programs to control what americans can say and think. this is part of what he had to say about 30 minutes ago. >> i am being censored here through this target, through smears, through misinterpretations what it said, through lies, through association, which is a tactic we all thought had been discredited with after a andy mccarthy hearings in the 1950s. those same weapons are now being deployed against me to silence me. >> dana: he dispensed with his written statement and gave it passionately from the start and got applause at the end of that. he might have some friends in the room. the democrats are loaded for bear. they wanted to table the hearing and wanted to take it to executive session so he wouldn't
7:02 am
even have a chance to be seen in public, which is ironic given the subject matter of the hearing. >> bill: he is quite comfortable speaking off the cuff and he is quite comfortable talking for a considerable period of time. he used this phrase, dana, toxic pole areization and called out everybody in the room about the state of affairs in american politics today and how people just simply do not get along. for the example he used dennis kucinich far left and jim jordan, far right and how they are friends back home in ohio. >> dana: we need to start being kind and respectful to each other. there was a hearing yesterday with the i.r.s. whistleblowers. quite explosive and let's listen to a little bit of that from yesterday. >> out of having to pay the tax, right? >> that's correct. civil and criminal statute of limitations have expired. >> he could pay that today, right, voluntarily? >> yes. >> if he chose to voluntarily,
7:03 am
yes, he could. >> mr. president might want to wander down the hall of the white house and say hunter biden, pay your taxes for 2014. two men testified there are is $125,000 owed and he ought to cut the check. >> dana: giving testimony on the criminal investigation into hunter biden's tax evasion claiming political interference and preferential treatment for him that stopped investigators that stopped looking into evidence that could have led to president biden. the advice is don't question the bidens. mike turner is chairman of the intelligence committee. now that this has settled in. where do you go from here? >> these whistleblowers, mr. shapley and ziegler did a great job. you could see that they had taken the steps to do what they believed was right to tell the story how their investigation had been thwarted and how the
7:04 am
department of justice allowed the statute of limitations for serious criminals acts by hunter biden to expire so he couldn't be pursued. because the statute of limitation was out there he could still pay those taxes today. that's what we were dealing with yesterday also is hunter biden has money in his pocket. the biden family has money in their pockets from hunter not having paid taxes. he should pay his taxes. >> bill: joseph ziegler was the surprise witness. we didn't know his name or identity. he was rather unimpeachable. from ohio. he made the statement he is paying his own way to travel to washington, d.c. and back home again as a whistleblower here. this is a segment of his testimony yesterday when he talked about a special counsel that's required. >> it appeared to me based on what i experienced that the u.s.
7:05 am
attorney in delaware in our investigation was constantly ham strung, limited and marginalized by d.o.j. ovation eaves as well as other u.s. attorneys. i still think a special counsel is necessary for this investigation. >> bill: he said it emphatically. do you think it will happen? doesn't appear likely. >> not under the biden administration, certainly not under the current d.o.j. they have are treating bidens different than every other american. unimpeachable about these witnesses, they have had access to hunter biden's financial records and bank records. they weren't testifying about things they heard or should have investigate. they have done the investigation. they had the facts, the information and the transactions and they were also relating to us conversations they themselves had had with the department of justice attorneys, u.s. attorneys. they weren't talking about things they heard second or third hand. this is hard evidence of interference by the department
7:06 am
of justice on behalf of the bidens. >> dana: did you get a sense that the democrats on the committee -- i would imagine they would prefer not to have to talk about this, they are maybe concerned that there was impropriety here? >> i think the evidence is so clear that there are actual significant crimes and taxes that aren't paid that not one democrat was willing to engage these whistleblowers on the substance that they were there to testify. most of the people on the other side, democrats on the committee spent their time talking about donald trump, which this has nothing to do with donald trump. this is totally hunter biden, his financial transactions, crimes, fraud, and taxes that are -- should be being paid. >> bill: i want to listen to one more sound bite from yesterday. a democratic congressman from maryland and he makes it quite clear he thinks the attacks on aspects of government are doing the american people no good. i will ask you about that in a
7:07 am
moment here. watch. >> i don't like these attacks on the department of justice, the f.b.i., the i.r.s. as if they are somehow anti-u.s. agencies. we are doing this all over again for the hunter biden show to someone who has pleaded guilty and has taken responsibility for not filing taxes for two years. this is ludicrous. >> bill: the overall comment goes to how the american people view the work of major agencies and american government. robert kennedy is making that same point as we speak. is that being heard in washington, d.c. among your colleagues? >> these aren't criticisms of the department of justice and i.r.s. and certainly the biden family, these are actual facts. that's what is so unimpeachable what occurred yesterday. they aren't making allegations
7:08 am
or things that they presume or think are happening. they told what is happening. there were real crime -- evidence of crimes for 2014 and 2015 that the department of justice allowed the statute of limitations to expire so there wouldn't be criminal prosecution on those and at the same time the tax liabilities then were never satisfied and never paid, again statute of limitations having passed. >> dana: we appreciate you coming. i know you have votes to get to. thank you for your time here today and get our viewers that this hearing. the judiciary weaponization committee. congressman la hood is asking about how the hunter biden laptop was suppressed or the story of it was sur pressed. >> the extent of censorship when the post is still there. more important life i go back to just the fact that we are creating a platform for these -- for this kind of discussion, not
7:09 am
about the censorship, not about free speech, but the content of some of that speech that we are am plea -- amplifying in this room. i'm troubled by colleagues i have to work with, that these are individuals who would bring a witness who has promoted a video that compared to covid vaccine to the tuskegee trials. individuals who were already sick with a disease were then reviewed experimented on who already had a disease. to see how far that disease went. and making the comparison that manipulates and preys on black people's feelings about the atrocities of the past in order to prevent them from seeking
7:10 am
lifesaving vaccines in the present. and knowing that this is dangerous. i cannot also be unaware that this comes from an individual who, by mr. ray's introduction is very smart and understands the implications of this. mr. kennedy's own family decries his stance on vaccines. i have family members that we all disagree. that doesn't mean anything. but the fact that he has famously sent a request to a party guest that they had to be vaccinated to come to his party and i would like to introduce into the record a letter from louis, a law firm representing mr. kennedy, which states, as he has stated repeatedly, he
7:11 am
vaccinated all his children. i would like that to be introduced into the record. but tells the black community and myself, a mother of five black children, that i should really be careful and not necessarily have the same safeguards to protect my family, my children, from a virus that has killed millions of people because i'm black. there is no secret that this is an amplification of his own platform. i won't talk about the money that's received from the children's health defense from his anti-vaccine organization that's responsible for a majority of the false information out there about covid and the notoriety that's gained from it by manipulating black and other vulnerable communities to propagate these pseudo sciences. ms. wiley are you aware of the phrase super human yet sub
7:12 am
humanization. >> i can't say i'm aware of the phrase. i'm aware of the viewpoint. >> can you share what you believe that to mean when it comes to black people? >> sadly and unfortunately we have a history in this country where black people were both by law and by social view viewed as inferior and sub human. and that stereotypes attached to that that includes all kinds of myth about the ability to disregard both the health needs, health conditions and disparities that exist for black people and in black communities to the detriment not only of the health of people who are black but also to public health by not taking good sound. >> in chattel slavery you don't have to feed them the same way because they can take it, they
7:13 am
can handle that. they don't need as much. now with covid they've got super human genes that they don't need to get the same vaccines and they may be more susceptible if you get vaccines. why do you think someone might choose to target the black community with false information about vaccines? >> i can't say i can sit in a position to explain why anyone would do that. i can only say that for those who wished to prevent people from getting a vaccines it was very clear that one of the ways in which you could convince people not to is to play on fears that have baseis in historic experience, sadly, and frankly, and i can say this personally speaking from having conversations with friends, with people i worked with, who were
7:14 am
terrified of whether or not there might be some adverse consequences for them because of the tuskegee where people people were tested without their permission or denied access to medical intervention despite awareness that it would be detrimental to their health. that distrust has historical fact. we have come to a point where, in terms of the covid vaccine and what we were being told by scientists, including the ways in which both the cdc, world health organization and others were examining, were actually putting out factual information both about the degree to which testing and trials before approval had been -- had included people who are black and asia and therefore had more basis of fact to be able to
7:15 am
state scientifically >> time of the general lady is expired. gentleman from north dakota is recognized. >> i would like to yield my time to representative massey. >> the gentleman from north dakota, wow, the irony from the other side of the aisle is deafening. you could cut it with a knife. they are at the at the same time denying that censorship is occurring but suggesting that there is more material that needs to be censored. this is a hearing on censorship that began with an effort, with a formal motion from the other side of the aisle, to censor mr. kennedy. they do not want him to speak, yet that is the topic of this hearing. they have kept him from speaking. collusion between the government and private organizations. mr. kennedy, in your opening statement you introduced us to this word mal information.
7:16 am
can you tell us more about this made up word, what it means and some of the things that you've said or tried to say that you've been censored for that has been characterized as mal information? >> yes, congressman. i would like to just respond briefly to some of the what i would call defamations that have been just applied to me by the ranking member. i am happy to talk to you about my opinions on these issues, what you have stated and tried to associate me with through guilt by association is simply inaccurate. virtually every statement that you just made about me is inaccurate. i have never advised black americans not to receive vaccines. at one point you say i am anti-vaccine and that's the bad thing. the other moment you point out
7:17 am
all my children are vacs. i took flu vaccines for 20 years straight. i have never been anti-vax. i have never told the public avoid vaccination. the only thing i have asked for and my views are constantly misrepresented so that the truth of what i believe is not -- i'm not allowed to have a conversation with the american people. i believe vaccines should be tested with the same rigor as other medication. you tried to associate me a moment ago with a replacement theory, which is racist >> i did not say you. i said my colleagues. >> i denounce that theory. it is racist and i have never endorsed it or had any association with it. our film on medical -- by the
7:18 am
way. bill buxton, the black cdc official who ultimately exposed to tuskegee tried to stop for 40 years. finally he got relief by walking into my uncle's office in the building next door and ended the experiment. i remember that very well. to say that i created a film that encourages blacks not to get adequate medical care is just completely abhorrent. >> it's the witness's time. do not censor the witness. >> he is still talking. >> i have my time, do not censor him. >> if the views that you and others have applied to me, have attributed to me.
7:19 am
if they were true i should see why i shouldn't be able to testify today. those are not true. these are defamations and malignancies that are used to censor me to prevent people from listening to the actual things i'm saying. i think, ranking member, we should have a real conversation rather than an exchange in attacks. answer your question. the term mal information was coined to describe information that facebook and twitter and the other social media sites understood was true but that the white house and other federal agencies wanted censored anyway for political reasons because it challenged official orthodoxy. i will give you one example. there was -- i was included in a group called the disinformation dozen. facebook and others were asked to censor us, which they did.
7:20 am
by the way, my whole instagram account with 900,000 people was taken down because of that. they knew -- facebook knew that the disinformation -- what they said was that disinformation came from this very shady group called the center for preventing digital hate in england funded by dark money that should be looked into. they claim that 65% of the vaccine misinformation on the internet was generated by those 12 people. facebook itself said that is false information, we know that not to be true. and yet when the white house asked them to censor this disinformation including me, they did it anyway when they knew it would be untrue. >> gentleman yields back. >> unanimous consent motion. i would like to introduce page

two of the transcript of laura demelo where specifically she says if someone -- she is asked if someone were to leave at this interview and were to suggest or imply or state when you said quote the laptop was real unquote it meant the f.b.i. had affirmatively determined in october 2020 that the laptop belonged to hunter biden, that the contents belonged to hunter biden, that the contents had not been manipulated in some way they would be misrepresenting what you said, correct? they would be misrepresenting what i said because i don't have much knowledge of that. >> i think that's already been introduced. we'll do it again. stand in recess for approximately 45 minutes and we'll be right back at it. thank you all. >> bill: so we thought it would have some energy and it has. just that last comment about the disinformation dozen i would
7:22 am
expect we'll hear more about that. >> dana: they have to have a 45 minute recess and come back. we'll bring it to you as it returns. byron york is standing by watching this with us. byron, i don't -- we watch a lot of hearings and i don't remember one where you had this much of actual interaction. so much of it is usually scripted. but that is not happening here. rfk junior wants to defend himself and he is intending to do that in this hearing today. what are your thoughts this morning? >> i think what you said points out this hearing has become about rfk junior. it was supposed to be about the question of censorship. it was supposed to be about some of the issues that are in this incredibly important court case, missouri versus biden that could ultimately forbid the government from working with tech companies
7:23 am
to censor viewpoints. it is an incredibly important issue. this has become about rfk junior. did he require vaccinations for people who came to a christmas party at his house? did he encourage african-americans not to seek medical treatment? absolutely not, he says. so it has become about rfk junior and whatever the actual intention of the hearing was seems to have gone off to the side. >> bill: he appears prepared and ready to do verbal battle with anyone who is questioning him. this is 69-year-old man who believes his life work stands for itself and he believes that he is being impugned. i don't see him giving up that reputation easily, byron, today. >> he is being impugned, no doubt about it. democrats are trying to destroy his credibility as a witness because he is challenging president biden.
7:24 am
republicans invited him to testify and are talking him up because he is challenging president biden. republicans are trying to destroy him because he is challenging president biden. that's the back drop to this whole thing. there has been a debate for many, many years almost 20 years about rfk junior's stance on vaccines. it goes back well before covid concerning measles vaccines and things like that. what is at play right now is presidential politics in which republicans would like to give a forum to the primary challenger at the moment to president biden in the democratic race for the nomination for president in 2024. and democrats are absolutely determined to shut that down. so i have to say i think democrats would be fairly happy with this hearing making it about rfk junior and trying to air all the negative information they can about him. >> dana: that's so interesting, byron.
7:25 am
i might have a different theory on this just because one of the other things we'll be talking about in the coming days is the fact that many americans are dissatisfied with the likely match-up of biden and trump in 2024. people saying is a third party possible? bloomberg has a story this morning that says 47% of people would be willing to think about a third party. rfk junior is a life long democrat. we know his family history, the kennedy name. it would be very difficult to leave that party but i want you to listen to something he said. you heard this before but in case anyone missed it to listen to what he is saying about polarization which would speak to some of those people who might be dissatisfied with biden/trump as a match-up. watch here. >> toxic polarization that is destroying our country today, and how do we deal with that? democrats on this committee believes we have polarization.
7:26 am
do you think you can do that by censoring people? you cannot. that only aggravates and amplifies the problem. we need to start being kind to each other. start being respectful to each other. we need to start re-- it has to start here. >> dana: listening to that thinking he is talking to a broader reach of american than just the democratic party which would be happy to wash their hands of him, it seems. >> absolutely. the issue of free speech and free speech in this highly politicized moment and especially with tech companies, certainly extends far beyond robert f. kennedy junior. we had the twitter files and the talk about what was being done on twitter and some of this hearing is being devoted to the hunter biden story and twitter's suppression of the hunter biden story at the behest of the
7:27 am
government. he makes a very, very good point here. but i don't think that he will ever be able to pull this important issue apart from the partisan undercurrents in this hearing, which is that he is challenging the sitting democratic president, democrats are determined to destroy that challenge. >> dana: yes, they are. >> bill: this will go on for a few hours but won't resume for 30 minutes and we'll be on stand by until it does. good to get your input today. >> dana: other news now. president biden pushing his economic agenda heading to philadelphia today to promote bidenomics. why his message is meeting resistance in that city. >> bill: we talked about this 30 minutes ago. the wife of the suspect in the gilgo beach murders filing for divorce, live update on the investigation as the police widen the search to collect more evidence. i want you to know something.

the evangelical vote in iowa that i believe that are doing a good job doing that. one of them is vivek ramaswamy who is turning the head of a lot of evangelical voters. speaking our love language and doing some things we want to hear. he did well at the family leader's summit this past weekend. senator tim scott is doing great. he is doing the hard work of retail politics in the state looking people in the eye and shaking their hands and listening to voters. in particular the evangelical voters. having meetings with pastors. another person that i believe is really, really playing well, governor ron desantis and he is fantastic. and just as you heard penny say, there are a lot of people that really like what they see with him and i think that a lot of evangelical voters do as well. i would just add that trump is not the heir apparent for a lot

on a personal level all lives matter born or unborn, that's very important to me. >> bill: michael, what are your issues? >> well, i think for the evangelical voters here in iowa, not that i represent them, but i know what is dear to a lot of them is the issue of life. it begins there. you get it wrong on life you get everything else wrong. life, religious liberty is extremely important. the issue of marriage between one man and one woman. the issue of pushing back against the crazy gender ideology being hoisted upon children in our culture and why governor desantis message is resonating. it doesn't matter where you stand politically or ideologically it just makes sense. don't sexualize our children. >> bill: last question to both of you. a quick answer. governor kim reynolds a popular and signed a six-week abortion
