>> well, fortunately for us, one you have our colleagues did, lawrence. the department of transportation now launching an investigation into delta airlines after passengers in las vegas were stranded on the tarmac for hours in extreme heat. that atlanta-bound flight delayed at harry reid airport monday as temperatures outside soared to over 110 degrees. our colleague fox news field producer christa garvin was on that flight and this is what she saw. >> you are telling us that we have multiple mid call emergencies on the flight. the plane still cannot get any cooler than it is. it is still hot. we're sitting on the plane you are telling us you have a choice to either sit here and get possibly sick and watch all this go down or not get to your destination for days. >> several people were taken off that flight as you see there for medical treatment. some transported to local hospitals. the flight was eventually canceled after three long hours

potential film project and then i read american, a great book. 25 years of research. incredible detail. it's a beautifully laid out book. that gave me the confidence take on such a complicated project. >> brian: the way you line it up. you have the world war. you have nuclear energy. you also have communism. naziism, all turned into one and it all really happened. i mean, the drama has was taking place and what was happening here was really crazy because there was a sense that if the nazis got it, and beat us to the bomb, the world would forever be changed. >> yeah. it was a crazy race once the atom was split. a lot of the great physicists around the world pretty quickly figured out the potential for some kind of doomsday device. some kind of bomb. and one of the things i found most traumatic about this is oppenheimer knew all the german scientists he knew the chess

player on the other side of the board. of the stakes were very, very high for the whole world. >> brian: this story is really about a guy, too oppenheimer think he inevents the bomb hero for a brief period of time. you make it clear this is a mixed blessing. >> this is the first time the scientists were ever asked by the military to try and win a war. that had never happened before. so suddenly science finds itself in the position of okay, we have created this thing. what say do we have in how it's used? do we have a say in how it's used or is that the politicians? so oppenheimer wound up in this -- in the post war years. he wound up in this really complicated situation between science, government, and the media. >> brian: we end up in a cold war with the soviet union and a race to make sure we keep the bomb. here's the moment in the movie when they realize the russians might have it. listen. >> one of our b-29s over the north pacific has detected radiation. >> do we have the filter. >> there's no doubt what this is. >> wishful thinking i'm
