had a vaccine, or plan to. thanks to skyrizi, there's nothing like clearer skin and better movement... and that means everything. ♪nothing is everything♪ now's the time to ask your doctor about skyrizi. learn how abbvie could help you save. joey: good morning, welcome back to "fox & friends" and it's 7:00 on the east coast and you're looking at ocean city, new jersey. i'm pretty sure that is a city on the ocean in new jersey. it looks beautiful there. i love the flag. pete: isn't there one in maryland, too? joey: there is.
4:01 am
pete: how many ocean cities are there? joey: probably along the ocean a lot. it's where marines hang out. pete: different vibe. the calm morning wakeup is like a rollover onto beer cans. joey: a lot of bad haircuts and braided belt with your polo tucked in and seeing things. pete: five to ten years behind other cultural trends and you don't know what to wear. joey: the only clothes you can afford are sold at the px and a limited selection and the whole dad esthetic comes from the px. rachel: i grew up on an air force base where i thought the bx, which is what we call it had, was amazing, but we did look forward to people who came from the united states to the
4:02 am
base to kind of bring some style, get us back up to date. joey: that's right. rachel: there's a lot of truth to what you're saying, joey. pete: joey jones here with us and great to have you. joey: thank you. pete: it's political season, has been for awhile and as politics go fortunes rise and fall and donald trump remains the overwhelming front runner on the republican side and everyone thought ron desantis is a big challenge for him and announced he bummed and fizzled and it's a great deal and he's support has come back to donald trump and some of its gone to another opponent rising quickly in the polls and that is vivek ramaswamy. here's aplites cal op ed by rich lowry and he predicted a lot of moments and get ready for the vivek ramaswamy moment and those of us on fox have known because he's been a commentator here, really smart guy and made a lot of money. for those that don't watch fox
4:03 am
or haven't been dialed in, they say vivek who? there'll be more of a spotlight on this guy as his poll number haves reached a level where one recent poll came out and showed him tied at 12% with ron desantis. rachel: who has a lot more money behind him than vivek ramaswamy. here's a quote from the op ed that pete was talking about and said after donald trump, he might be the best communicator in the race. certainly no one else in the rest of the field is clearly better than he is. he tends to make favorable impressions wherever he goes. he's personal, warm backstage, knows how to give a speech and read a room and makes republican audiences believe that he really gets it. he compares himself to the trump of 2016 as the outsider candidate. all though he doesn't have anything like the star power of trump who dominated the media and brought what turned out to be a powerful new combination of ideas -- sorry, of issues and attitudes to the table. it's funny on my podcast from the kitchen table, we talked
4:04 am
about vivek ramaswamy this week and this moment that he's having and what is it about him? there's a couple of things that i think are really interesting. the communication style. i think since ronald reagan, we haven't had someone who sort of has that american aspirational language. he explains things super well and makes you feel good about being an american, knows our constitution and kind of digs into that and presents it really well. i think the other thing he has and rich lowry talked a little bit about the similarities between him and trump, clearly they're communication styles are different but their boldness in what they're proposing like vivek said i want to get rid of the department of education. i'm going to pardon all the january 6 protesters who deserve to be pardoned. he's been saying some really bold things and getting out in front. i think the reason what donald trump and vivek have in common here is that their policy decisions are coming from their
4:05 am
gut, from their -- pete: from the outside. rachel: and not from the donors, and you look at -- i think you mentioned ron desantis sort of stumbling. the best example of why people are kind of sour ago little bit or going a lit the flat on desantis is the ukraine decision where he came out and said kind of had a position about similar to donald trump's on ukraine, and within a day or two he switched it which seems to imply his donors got to him and said you better reel that back a bit, and he did. joey: i think you look at the wall here. we have career politicians and two outsiders. that matters. it's not to say that politicians are inherently bad, but we have four people on the wall here who have been a politician for as long as we've known then, and we have two people on the wall here that we know them for other reasons and decided to step in to politics. i think one thing donald trump shows more than anything else is that the american people were finally honest with themselves about how they feel about politicians.
4:06 am
there is not a headline you could write that is so bad if you attribute it to any politician you wouldn't kind of go, well, i kind of get that and believe that it's not surprising and that's how we feel about our political class and don't believe we're terrible people but we believe that system and inside the beltway and being in dc lends itself to money and power and fame and all the evils that come with it. if you're addicted to that, which you got to believe most politicians are, there's a certain -- there's a divide there to regular people that they don't like. rachel: i think that's a little cynical. what they have in common isn't just they're outsiders and the reason they're outsiders and they're thinking they're both businessmen coming from that world. pete: vivek has been smart to draft off of trump. trump hasn't gone after him and his policies and calls him america first 2.0 and does put a cap on his rise as well. we're not looking -- love him but we're probably not looking at a rise here that challenges donald trump. it just puts the aspirations of
4:07 am
other candidates in the rear-view mirror. by the way, part of the reason we're talking about him as well is we're learning he's qualified for the first debate and vivek ramaswamy will be on the fox news state. 40,000 individual donors from enough -- i think all 50 states or i don't know what the details are on that and you have to have at least one percent in a major national poll and he's up at 12 and doing fine there. make for an interesting debate. joey: he's also the only millennial in the race and points that out. that's a big contrast. pete: he's a really good communicator. rachel: he's fantast nick that regard. pete: going to not so good communicators over to kamala harris because people are asking where in the world is kamala harris at this point? joe launched reelection campaign and wall street journal asking what has kamala been doing in the first ten weeks of their reelection campaign. it's not just joe, kamala is

4:09 am
she's actually a drag on a fundraiser. joey: nancy pelosi and kevin mccarthy are california politicians and what made them so popular was their ability to raise money and get people elected so kamala harris coming from the senate is different. looking at senators, it's less about what they can do for the party but usually more independent and spirited people. it's harder for a senate majority leader to get the whole party online with anything. what she did best, she was a bull dog and went in and no matter what the hearing was about, she was going to raise a stink and throw arrows and did well. like democrats that believed in what she was talking about would cheer. she doesn't have a chance to do that as vice president. i don't know if that's her decision or biden's decision. when they first became a ticket, i thought, well that makes sense. crazy uncle joe says the wholesome things and she goes on attack. you need one to do each. with trump and pence, it was the opposite. and so you're not getting that out of her though. you get this really -- to the
4:10 am
point that she looks like she feels awkward. she looks like she's acting in the school play and doesn't want to say these lines and that's why you get that giggle out of her. i don't think she wants to giggle but she feels awkward in the moment and that's how it comes across. to be as graceful as possible and criticizing her and talk about things and getting interviewed and doing the forum and she looks like she's less comfortable and that doesn't create faith from people. pete: it was the moments in senate hearings that elevated her and pete: the witness can't really talk back and hard to recreate unless you talk a talk a talk e

receives the death penalty immediately. rachel: donald trump saying the death penalty and i'm pro life and i'm truly pro life and i'm not for the death penalty and i'll suggest castration. chemical castration, physical castration and rather see that on sex traffickers than children. pete: donald trump has been very consist on this issue and tweeted back in 2012 from his real donald trump account on twitter and i don't know what the context is of this tweet and it said got to do something about the missing children grabbed by the perverts and too many incidents and fast trial, death penalty. if you're trafficking children and death penalty is fitting and people resinate with what he talks about. joey: i live in a small town that jason aldean sings about. when we sit around the campfire
