they might be feasting off bales of drugs off the coast of florida. what do you know about this. >> unfortunately, i think this is someone trying to make a tv show. we do lots of toxicology studies on the 92 sharks we have sampled off the east coast they have receptors in their nose that pick up proteins so i don't think they are going to be going around eating bales of cocaine. something tv. more important to talk about -- just tv. trying to make a good story to have some fun. hopefully something to learn in the show as well. >> ainsley: what sparked your interest in sharks? that. >> they are the path to make sure our grandchildren eat food and see an ocean full of water. and if they thrive, humans thrive. we need assist them and we were limited in our capacity to do that. o search came through breakthrough make sure they thrive so we thrive. >> any words of wisdom you want to say to the people who live in new york, new jersey, south carolina and florida and hawaii where the encounters have been this year? >> yeah.

i mean i think what we are see something this big return to abundance, the sharks oftentimes crowd the bait against the beach to feed on it. they push it in to where the people are that's really what's happening. and when you see these areas where the food chain is colliding. it doesn't pass the common sense test to walk out in the middle of that. people are getting smarter about this in the 1970s, $80 and 90s oceans have been highly depleted. the management has been amazing over the last 50 years and seeing something we all dreamed of. be smart. look at the ocean. don't walk in and fall in love with it with your family because it provides air and food. >> ainsley: if we see a shark hit it in the nose. >> if you are swimming in the water and can't obviously walk out. eyeball the shark. look at it right in the eyes, move toward it. these are apex predators. not used to things coming at them. they are used to things swimming away. obviously not going to outswim

nicole valdes is more in nashville with the historic heat wave. nicole? >> steve, ainsley, pete, good morning, sadly we have seen heat-related deaths included in states all across the country also texas, idaho, maryland and florida. in fact, just talking about that hot car death. six of those have happened in the state of florida and it's such a tragedy when you hear about these babies, you know, being left in those cars. but it's something that officials believe is preventable. let's talk more about that texas incident, i mean, of course, just the efforts there from that father trying to breakthrough the window of the heb there from that searing car. the day this happened the heat indention was more than 100 degrees, according to the nashville highway traffic administration. it takes only about 10 minutes for a car to heat up by 20 degrees. so it's it's 100 degrees outside, it could be 120 or even 140 inside that car. with the power off, of course, that footage you see taken up by

millions of folk. kind of spread out a little bit. overth last few weeks sort of concentrated over the southwest and texas and louisiana. look at el paso. 37 days with highs at 100 degrees plus. so we're setting records not only in texas but mrs. phoenix. i know they have surpassed the record for the most days of 110 degrees plus. and look at the temperature outlook as we go through the next couple of weeks. very likely warmer over these southern states moving up towards the mid-atlantic. we do have some severe storms that are firing right now for parts of nebraska in towards iowa where we have a severe thunderstorm watch in effect. large hail, damaging winds will be possible. and then a look at today's forecast. 86 here in new york with mostly sunny skies and we are starting to see a little bit more of that smoke again for the upper midwest. so certainly air quality alerts for folks in those regions. we will keep you up to date fox weather.com for all of those weather details.
