"new york post" cover, arch enemy. >> dana: critics say timing is suspect but archer is expected to power through. according to miranda devine she said the stakes could not be higher. >> there is enormous pressure on devan archer. he has had to go into hiding. what he has to say is a bombshell. >> dana: congresswoman nancy mace is a member of the committee interviewing archer and we'll talk to her in a moment. first to chad pergram on the hill. >> good morning. we're standing outside the o'neill office building where
6:02 am
devon archer will arrive at 10:00 talk to house investigators not under oath for four hours. between 10:00 and 2:00 today. we're told they will discuss new bank records they have from ukraine, kazakhstan and russia. devon archer has avoided testifying three times but he will talk today about business contacts he had with hunter biden and the president. >> we know that devon archer has met and communicated many, many times with joe biden about burisma and other things. we have other bank statements that we've obtained that we have questions about pertaining to countries that we believe archer may have knowledge of. >> fox has obtained 2018 text messages between hunter biden and devon archer. in one text hunter refers to the justice department as mother blankers. he also tells archer they will have the last laugh. republicans are cautious about

the interview. >> i have gotten very careful about that. let's wait and see exactly what he says. i think the testimony will be damning toward the biden administration and biden crime family. let's see what he says, not jump the gun. >> something curious unfolded over the weekend. back in 2022 a court convicted archer of bulking a native american tribe out of millions of dollars. there was a letter to schedule a date for archer to prison. democrats defend the president. >> this is a witch hunt. if hunter biden has broken the law he should be held accountable. i don't think he is being differently any different than anyone else. never any evidence that joe biden has compromised his office. >> now again, the agenda for today four hours of this

fees for defrauding a native american crime. nancy mace, thank you for your time today and good morning to you. you are back in south carolina. not going to be in washington for that testimony. the interview. what do you expect we'll learn today about president biden from devon archer? >> well, we should get information to corroborate documents we've seen, whether suspicious activity reports, bank records but whether or not the big question is the million dollar question is whether or not joe biden was in the room by phone or in person in any of his involvement in any of these deals that we're seeing. we've seen evidence of corruption, money laundering, bribery. was joe biden in the room when these things were taking place? that's what we want to figure out today. the other thing about this letter, this explosive letter that came out on saturday. this is the biden's d.o.j. henchman saying to devon archer,
6:06 am
sure, do the interview on monday but we'll intimidate the witness before you do that. i was shocked when that letter came out on saturday. i hope that devon archer will get in the room and tell the truth and nothing but the truth and that interview will be released to the american people as soon as possible. >> dana: there was a response from archer's attorney, let me read it here. they don't think they were being intimidated. we're aware of speculation the d.o.j. weekend request to have mr. archer report to prison is an attempt to intimidate him in advance of the meeting with the oversight committee. to be clear mr. archer doesn't agree with that speculation. their side of that point. another thing in chad's report that made me think about when you went to the treasury department and able to look at bank records and chad says maybe there are more additional things and you said at that time if you could see what i have seen, you also would think there is a big problem here.
6:07 am
will we have more of that today? >> i don't know. i can't say what devon archer will say. we're curious about that. i tell you when we pulled up the first suspicious activity reports, more than 170, we realized there were more on more biden family members and more information that we have to dig into and investigate. what we have to do and in the process of now is accumulating bank records not just domestically but bank records in foreign countries with foreign banks we have to get. that takes money and time, which we're doing and trying to collect that information. because don't trust congress but trust the evidence that we bring forward for or against this thing. i do agree and said this yesterday, all the information, evidence we collect for or against in this case or this investigation should be released to the public. they don't trust us. trust the evidence we bring forward and make the decision for yourself whether or not you think it is corrupt or not.
6:08 am
>> bill: republicans think the interview is critical. if it's so important, chad mentioned jim jordan will be there. why aren't you there or james comer who heads that committee? >> well, when there are transcribed interviews with these committees oftentimes it's done with legal counsel from the committee staff or committee staff familiar with more details and records that some of us haven't had access to or seen. having those folks in the room that have all the details are going to be much better. i wish we could be there. i'm very glad to be in south carolina. we've been up and down for ten weeks straight but our legal counsel is leading the effort today. >> dana: do you think it will lead to an impeachment inquiry? >> i do believe that may be a tool in the tool box if we aren't allowed to get all the information. if d.o.j. and f.b.i. stone wall the investigation. that's a tool.
6:09 am
much different than an impeachment vote. we have to be better than nancy pelosi who politicized impeachment. i don't want to see us do that. we have to be deliberative, serious and on overwhelming abundance of evidence or this thing doesn't move forward. >> bill: we'll see what we get when parts of those transcripts are made public. thank you for your time. friday afternoon there was a news dump we call that in the biz. a lot of questions about the seventh grandchild for president biden. he gave a statement to people magazine. it read in part our son hunter and navy's mother, lon done with working together to foster a relationship in the best interests of their daughter, preserving her privacy as much as possible going forward. this is not a political issue, a family matter. jill and i only want what's best for all our grandchildren including navy. the last two weeks or so a lot of questions in the briefing

new military aid for taiwan worth $345 million. it includes highly advanced weapons drawn from our nation's own stockpiles to help that island nation counter the growing threat from china. retired general jack keane, fox news senior strategic analyst and general, good morning to you. sounds like a lot of money. is it? >> well, this is part of a $2 billion package authorized each year for five years that congress initiated. it is a step in the right direction here, bill. the overall strategy here is to prevent a war. president xi has told his military to be prepared to take taiwan by 2027. he has threatened doing just that over and over. the military intimidation we see on a regular basis reinforces what he has in mind. hopefully that's not what he does. but we can't depend on that. because we have to look at what his capabilities are.
6:21 am
he is the dominant military power in the region. this is a step in the right direction to help taiwan defend itself with increased military capability both weapons and training. now taiwan cannot defeat china but they can impose cost on china that permits the united states and allies to join in that fight and therefore deter china from ever doing this. the second part of the strategy, bill, more forward deployed forces from the united states in the region. the third part, and that is our allies and partners increase their own military capability and exercise together. that's actually happening. japan doubled down on their defense budget. south korea increased. the philippines gave us four military bases to use and rotational and other ground forces and air power in and out of their country all with the singular purpose of one thing in

mind. to deter china from going to war. much as we successfully did with the soviet union during the cold war. >> bill: two more points here. taiwan has purchased $19 billion worth of weaponry. a lot of it hasn't been delivered. they blame supply chain for that and also blame the ukraine war with some of those supplies being depleted. now, beijing is not just sitting back. they put out a statement over the weekend and said the following. no matter how much of the ordinary people's taxpayer money taiwanese separate forces spend, no matter how many u.s. weapons it won't shake our resolve to realize the reunification of our mother land. an ammunition depot. for the chinese that's a tough statement, is it not, sir? >> a couple of things there. first on the backlog. we had the backlog before putin
6:23 am
invaded ukraine. that was -- you are right. $19 billion. covid impacted on that certainly. we have huge defense industrial base issues. there are supply chain problems here. we can't solve it overnight. that's why this move to give them immediate weapons capability from our own drawdown stockpile makes sense. the second thing is it's president xi who is doing the intimidation and coercion in the region and stepping up and beating the war drum. we aren't doing that. this is all defensive action to prevent a war. he is the guy that's flying hundreds of airplanes and six ships right now close to taiwan. this intimidation and coercion goes on every single day with our allies in the region, the principle focus is on taiwan. he is the agitator and aggressor here, bill. >> bill: jack keane.

6:31 am
vivek ramaswamy joins us. when i look at media coverage or the buzz about your candidacy, it is up. and yet you had this anonymous, i will say anonymous quote published last week to nbc news about you from a gop operative with a rival campaign saying that vivek is not a real candidate. his campaign is built on twitter. he is everything to everybody always. we don't think about him and at no point are we going to engage with him. you will be on the stage. so what do you make of all that? >> we'll be at the center of that debate stage. that's something the other candidates may not relish very much. the good news is that i'm not running against anybody in this race. i am running for this nation. as a gop we've been running from something for a long time. i am the candidate who is leading us to something. i think that's going to be the winning strategy. i started at 0.0% in the polls in march. i'm now in third place in the
6:32 am
gop national polls before the first debate. we're just getting warmed up. it will take an outsider of a different generation with a positive vision to actually win this election and that's what i'm bringing to the table. >> bill: look at the polls. i know you know quite well. this is npr, pbs among republicans and republican leaning independents. trump 64% last month. this month 58%. down six points. you know where things stand as of now. however, yesterday on cnn you said the following. you said for my part i stand for the america first agenda. and then you said i believe i'll be able to take that agenda further than trump did because i'm not having that effect on people yet. what effect are you talking about as it relates to donald trump? let's start there.
6:33 am
>> so look, i think trump was an excellent president and i stand by much of his agenda. the reality, though, bill is about 30% of this country becomes psychiatricly ill when he is in office. that's not his fault. i am not pinning the blame but it is a fact. i'm not yet having that effect on people. we're bringing young people along with us and inspiring people even outside the republican party. 40% of our 70,000 some odd donors are first time ever donors to the gop of any kind. normally that number is 2% for republican candidate. so i think i'm the only candidate in this race who can actually deliver a landslide victory, a reagan 1980-style moral mandate in the 2024 election. that's what i expect we will do and we're already on track to get there. >> dana: one of the things that you said is that you would be able to get the policies done
6:34 am
more efficiently and effectively. something catching our attention is this dismal situation for k-12 education. the nation's report card is showing horrible decreases. we can put them up on the screen to remind you for 13-year-olds reading is down four points, math down nine points and the other subjects were not any better. there was nothing in the positive category. this one got us last week. in baltimore, chronic absenteeism, which means you miss 10% or more of school. their rate in 2022 was at 58% of their students were chronically absent. now, i know you've said you would want to get rid of the department of education. as president, would you have any role here in trying to figure out what to do with the horrible situation of k-12 education? >> a big part of the problem, dana, the dirty little secret is our public schools are failing despite spending more money than charter schools and their private school counterparts.
6:35 am
in fact, the schools that spend the most per student have the baltimore to chicago to new york, worse academic results than charter schools or others spending less on a per student basis. so i advocate moving to school choice 2.0. school choice on steroids. not only should we use the money from the department of education, which i will abolish, to go back to the hands of parents to power school choice, i think we should go one step further where the parents who take their kids out of those public schools spending $40,000 per student in a place like new york and move to a school that might spend only $20,000. i think they should be able to take half the difference with them. that $10,000. invest that accordingly. that kid will grow up and graduate from high school with a quarter million dollar graduation gift. it is not even close what is a better use of money. putting that in the kids's hands or feeding the beast of the federal bureaucracies and
6:36 am
teacher union bureaucracy. those are the aggressive steps we have to take to starve. >> 23 days before you are on stage. we'll see you in milwaukee. i'm wondering how you break through in a crowd of 7, 8, 9, depending how many are there? we saw how trump broke through among nine others on stage in cleveland in 2016. how do you do that? >> look, it will be by speaking the truth. i'm unconstrained. there are a lot of super pac puppets in republican and democrat party. i'm an independent voice and put $15 million plus of my own money into this campaign precisely so i can be an independent voice speaking the truth on difficult issues that i think other candidates are unwilling to touch. i think the most important thing is i have lived the american dream and i believe first personally in passing that another the next generation. unlike much of what we've been doing i'm for a vision of what
6:37 am
we actually stand for, bill. i think people are hungry for that and that's what they'll hear from me on the debate stage. >> dana: what did you have for breakfast so we can get it next time? i love your energy. >> nothing is the answer. >> dana: talk to you before milwaukee or see you there in wisconsin. thanks very much. >> bill: reminder to viewers right now three weeks away, first republican primary debate, seven candidates meeting the threshold. that's been set by the rnc. two others still lagging. they can still get there and waiting on that. will former president trump be in milwaukee? give this a listen from saturday night in pennsylvania. >> sir, will you debate? >> they are all asking me the question. will you stand up there against a hostile network, fox. at a certain point you say why are we doing these things? we'll see what happens. i haven't made a commitment one

6:45 am
hour and democrats for an hour. then one more time each. what do you expect today? >> it could be really, really big and this is the reason why. i think we've established beyond any doubt that hunter biden engaged in a lot of questionable business deals with shady foreign partners that made him millions of dollars trading on his father's name. i think that's just in the public record. you saw some of that in the plea agreement that hunter biden was prepared to actually plead guilty to. so we've seen that. what we have not been able to see is any real connection between those business dealings and joe biden. that's where hunter -- devon archer comes in. if the reports are correct, he is prepared to testify that on a number of occasions, maybe dozens of occasions when hunter biden was with some of those foreign businessmen overseas, hunter biden would call up his father, put him on speakerphone
6:46 am
and introduce him. here is my friend and joe biden would exchange pleasantries with that person. if that's true that's a con true that's a direct connection. >> bill: democrats say it adds up to nothing. chris murphy from over the weekend. >> i think it is a witch hunt. if hunter biden has broken the law he should be held accountable for it. i don't think he is being treated any differently than anyone else accused of the crimes he has been accused of. >> bill: here is the catch if devon archer talks about what you described that statement by chris murphy makes no sense. >> it will be very interesting to see how democrats react to this today because in the past they've had the dilemma any time testimony about hunter biden and conceding that yes, hunter biden did all these questionable
6:47 am
things but no, joe biden has 0 connection to it. so i think it will be interesting because, as chad pergram reported at the top of the program, they are going to alternate. an hour of questioning from republicans, an hour from democrats, and then repeat. so democrats will get their chance to talk to devon archer. will they try to destroy him and try to set up testimony that separates him from joe biden? how are they going to actually approach this? >> dana: what do we know, if anything, about the relationship between archer and hunter biden today? >> well, they are often described as ex-friends. the reason devon archer is in so much trouble is actually unrelated to his activities with hunter biden. he was convicted, devon archer was, of defrauding an indian tribe in new york state in a
6:48 am
very complex bond deal in which $60 million was involved. and he has been sentenced to a year in jail. he will have to start serving his sentence soon. he has been fighting it and appealing it for about a year and has run out of appeals. but now there appears to be no contact between the two. >> bill: we may find out in the transcript when it comes out today or 3 or 4 days the extent of the relationship. nancy mace said this earlier on our program today out of south carolina. >> the other thing i want to say about this letter, this ex closeive letter that came out on saturday. the biden's d.o.j. henchman saying to devon archer, sure, you can do this interview with the oversight committee on monday but we'll intimidate the witness before you do that. >> bill: so they're saying no connection here. we'll see whether or not that comes also. in the same hour, byron, you will have a courtroom in florida where you will have an employee of mar-a-lago appear.
6:49 am
now, are we getting any closer to finding out what happened in that case and how much further along the special prosecutor is moving in that matter? >> well, as always with these trump prosecutions, you are looking at two different tracks. the legal and political tracks. on the legal track, the superseding indictment that was filed does offer more details, three new charges against former president trump and it indicates how another member of his staff may have been involved in an alleged effort to cover up, in this case, an order of some sort to delete surveillance video that was not in the end deleted. so we know that jack smith, the special prosecutor, is adding to the case. politically remember this case, when it came out. the first federal indictment ever of a former president, had
