capitol hill. but lawmakers on the house oversight committee say archer revealed that hunter put his father then vice president joe biden on speaker phone at least 20 times while meeting with foreign business partners. archer claims biden was put on the phone to sell, quote, the brand. now, in a statement, house oversight committee chairman james comer said devon archer's testimony confirms that joe biden lied to the american people when he said he had no knowledge about his son's business dealings and was not involved. joe biden was the brand that his son sold around the world to enricht biden family. but the white house is rejecting comer's conclusions. now, they tell me, quote: it appears that the house republicans own much hyped witness today testified he never heard of president biden discussing business with his son or his son's associates or doing anything wrong. house democrats echoing the white house arguing hunter was only selling the allusion of access by putting his father on speaker phone. listen. >> approximately 20 times over

had dinner. he had coffee. you know, they dialed him on the phone. that would be the most boring dinner if all you talked about was the weather. even in washington, d.c. as awful as that weather sometimes is. but i think there is actually, if you think about the evolving explanations from the white house, they are continuing to need to cling to a very small plot of land while everything floods around them. that is that they never discussed -- before they never talked at all and now, you know, they never discussed business. i think we need to continue to watch this investigation play out. these witnesses that the house is bringing in have direct knowledge, were in the meetings, devin archer was a member of the burisma board as well. but i still think that the really interesting pivot in this situation is you don't see democrats, except a brand new freshman democrat congressman speak about what's going on

episodes are probably the most serious allegations and there's no way that both those transactions happen, really without the president of the united states knowing that his son was involved in these business dealings. and i know how washington, d.c. works. as you know, i served in two administrations. and i can tell you that the vice president and the president's staff would tell him if hunter was involved in these business transactions or represented these individuals. >> joey: that's a key point. who can they find that will corroborate the worst implications here or can they find a digital trail that will unveil it. >> matthew before you go. let me ask you one more question. when you were acting attorney general during the trump years, was the trump administration looking into the hunter biden stuff? >> well, while i was there, it was russia, russia, russia and the mueller investigation almost dominating everything we did. obviously we accomplished a lot. we don't have time to go through

on the republican side, donald trump is distancing far outdistanced essentially doubling governor ron desantis who sat down yesterday for a special exclusive with "special report" and bret baier. one of the questions was bret asked the governor about, you know, there are reports that people feel you are a flawed candidate. this came from ed roll libs who has historically been one of the top political consultants on the republican side. i believe he worked with reagan. he worked with bush. he said that ron desantis was flawed. well, here's how the governor responded. >> i came into a state that had been decided by one point for a generation. you have covered some of those races. i govern boldly unapologetically and big results and we won by 20 points. you don't win a state like florida that big if you are not doing things that are

resonating. i would push back what i hear about culture war, standing up for the rights of parents. standing up for the well-being of children that's not some, quote, culture war, that's central to the lives of tens of millions of people throughout this one can trip. it's the right thing to do to stand with our kids. right thick to impose indoctrination in the schools. i totally reject being in iowa and new hampshire that people don't think that those are important. they do think they're important. these families with children are thanking me for taking stands in florida and bringing that type of vibrancy to the white house. >> he has got to do more to show the charming side of a candidacy. he is so rigid, when he stands up there at a press conference and hits back at reporters that call a bill by a name or there is a word like don't say gay that isn't even in the bill. when he is firing back at them supreme respond well to that. that's not a positive message for the country moving forward. one thing president trump can do is weave in and out of attacking someone for something they don't
