[laughter] you go to surf of line, it's a great site is. they have cams, camera as up in different locations, you can see what the waves look like, and then you look at the surf report. so we can hop on right now and see what the waves look like in fiji, maybe we could if pull up a camera of california. it's dark there. wherever. pete: a lot of california people watch the show. i found that out on vacation. rachel: yeah, you did do. they dvr. pete: i always thought they were staying up late and catching the first hour. will: partiers? pete: yeah, that's what i thought. maybe we get a beach cam on wilmington, delaware. will: i'm going to look it up during the break -- pete: the bidens have ended their beach trip, and they're headed back to wilmington for the remainderrer of their vacation and possibly a lot to

discuss inside the family these days, because we learned a lot this week -- rachel: they don't discuss -- pete: oh, or you're right, you're right. rachel: they don't discuss anything with business. pete: i'm sorry. the new talking point from the other side after this week is the illusion of access. so you've got to -- the left-wing media has to find a way to explain away the evidence that's coming clear before them. of course joe biden knew about his son's business dealings, and that's devon archer or right will there. a big week for him both behind closed doors with the house oversight committee with an interview with tucker or carlson, with others where he talked openly about refuting the requested that was just the illusion of access. we'll get to that in a moment. but here's the media talking about how they're spinning what joe might have known and peddling -- will: it's particularly congressman dan goldman -- pete: okay. will: -- who was in that interview with devon archer.
4:03 am
he came out, and he said -- it's a pretty ingenious spin. he says what we're really looking at here is the illusion of access. rachel: because there were 20 calls, over 20 calls -- will: he was acknowledging hunter was doing some shady stuff, but he's saying it wasn't really access to joe biden -- pete: keeping the and hunter apart. will we've yeah. he was selling the illusion of -- that kind of ran, to your point, pete, the mainstream media narrative for a day or two. watch. >> hunter biden was eling the illusion of said access. >> the witness testimony was very clear that hunter may have, quote, promoted the illusion of influence on his father. >> a source familiar with the matter tells me that, you know, archer told the committee that hunter biden was selling the illusion, illusion in quotes, of access to his father. >> dan can goldman said that archer testified that it was the
4:04 am
illusion of access. will: look at them run with that, okay? the illusion of access -- pete: in the banner. will: by the way, goldman is the levi strauss heir. his role is fascinating. in fact, take a look at this. so illusion of access, remember that. now, here's transcript testimony there from devon archer in front of the house oversight committee which goldman was in the meeting, right? he was in that. and here's how the questioning went. goldman says to archer -- remember, goldman says -- it's not about selling access to his father, it's about selling the illusion of access to his father, is that fair? >> so archer responds, is that fair? i mean, yeah, i think it is. i think that's almost fair. and then goldman goes on, i believe we have more, yeah. he says, i think -- archer says think that that's why he was able to -- okay, hold on. we're running two things together. i want to come back to this. can we just a pause that for one second? so illusion pollution of --
4:05 am
illusion of access is goldman's lineful he's feeding it to archer, and archer doesn't buy it 100%. kind of, it's almost fair. hen he goes on to say because there was some actual connections. rachel: we have video proof of it where he said i told the, i'm going to pyre -- i told them they better fire the prosecutor else they're not going to get their billion dollars. pete: yeah. and to continue what you said, so goldman follows up and says, almost fair? why almost fair in and archer says this, a line fed to him, because there are touchpoints and contacts that i can't deny that happened. but nothing of material, which that's another line they're using all week long, nothing material was discussed. they were just talking about the weather just like bill clinton and loretta lynch on tarmac, they were just talking about kids' gifts. butting i can't go on record saying there was communications. will: so what he's saying there is the reports are in this
4:06 am
testimony he says at least 20 something calls where they put joe biden on speakerphone with hunter, but then they'd step away, so archer doesn't know what they say directly. what joe has said, what hunter said, what the business partners say. so he's, like, i can't really say it's the illusion of access, that's not completely fair. the point there is it's completely manufactured. illusion of access, that's goldman's line, not or archer's. and the media just, here we go, we got the spin, let's run. rachel: i hope we can maybe pull this clip up later in the show where it was on msnbc with eugene robinson. so he's talking with another reporter about the 20 calls, and their trying -- they're trying to explain away why would joe biden agree to be on speakerphone, you know, with hunter. and they actually, believe it or not, say, well, you know, this is a time when beau was dying -- will: right. rachel: -- and it was a really tough time and so, you know,
4:07 am
should he have hung up on the son, hunter, when he put him on the line? yeah, but, you know, that's a really tough time. so what it actually tells me not that joe biden was, you know, under stress the, what it tells me is even though beau was dying, hunter and joe biden are still determined to make munch in that's how how big their greed is, that's what they're focused on. let's get on the call, let's make sure hunter make makes money instead of paying attention to beau who's dying of cancer. by the way, they use beau, anytime they're in trouble, they use beau to cover up. will: so i asked for this next part, i think this is fascinating. pete: this is the one that we jumped to previously. will: by accident. but, so goldman's role in this, i think, is fascinating. he creates this illusion of access thing, and then he walks down this path where the truth comes out unknowingly. he's like the best cross-examiner, although he doesn't know he's. >>s cross-examining devon
4:08 am
archer. so devon archer ooh's explaining the value of hunter biden sitting on the burisma board. well, it's for the grand. what does that mean, the brand? if who's the brand? if watch this testimony unfold. so archer says the brand, i think that's why burisma was able to survive for as long as it did. goldman says, because of additional capital or what in no, just because of brand. goldman says, well, i don't understand. how does that have an impact? archer says, well, capabilities to navigate d.c. that they were able to, you know, basically be in the news cycle. i think that preserved them from, you know, a longevity standpoint. that's, like, my honest, that's like really what i -- that's how i think about this holistically k. and goldman says, but how would that work? archer says, because people would be intimidate to mess with them, again, because of the brand. goldman asks, in what way? and archer says, legally. [laughter] this is about getting a prosecutor fired this ukraine.
4:09 am
pete: he's effectively using d.c. code to say this is political top cover that the brand of biden would give to a corrupt company. will: yes. pete: so you put hunter on the board. everyone knows who his dad can is, they know they have the illusion or reality of access, and as a result, you don't mess with burisma because you've got the political power of d.c. there. they don't have to talk in specificity, that's the point. it's all vague generalities of what we can do, don't touch -- and then certain touchpoints, then they come on down and take a direct action like firing the prosecutor in ukraine where it benefits the people that are a paying lots of money. rachel: right. and and and, you know, i had this interview with monica crowley in the last hour, and the implication of this kind of corruption, we're dealing with it right now because we have a president who is compromised by dirty deals like this in ukraine, by the same kind of dirty deals that they were making in china and in russia, and we see soft on china policy.
4:10 am
and again, just for me as an american looking at this, just my frustration at knowing that they're around the world making energy deals with the chinese, with the ukrainians as they're shutting down american jobs -- pete: in the name of climate change -- rachel: the hi pockily oi of it and -- hypocrisy of it and their willingness to sell out our country. this very week we have president trump being indicted and these corrupt losers are free and fine. pete: and you remember what tony bobulinski said in october of 2020. he said to james biden, how are you going to get away with all of in this and he said, plausible deniability. ultimately, just enough of this and then a willing media to make up things like -- rachel: and a willing fbi and doj because remember, one of the most interesting things in the follow-up interview that tucker carlson did with tony bob lin
4:11 am
can sky, he said the fbi -- bobulinski, the fbi never call to follow up with what he said. the fbi was not interested in that and told also the irs whistleblowers never to go down any line of questioning that involved joe biden. pete: it's true. well, we're going to get more on this later just in about 20 minutes from representative james comer who has promised that even more is coming. we'll ask him what is that and what more can the committee do to get to the bottom of this. 7:30, don't miss it. will: iowa farmers are accusing china of stealing american hand are. take a look at this, the chinese u.s. land grab. in 2021 the chinese owned 384,000 acres of land, that's u- pete: yeah you're right, sorry. pete: -- will: in 2011 it was 69,000. pete: how many acres do we own in china? is it more or less than 5?
4:12 am
rachel: yeah. pete: i mean, this is a corrupt regime taking advantage of a free society, right in and how long are we going to be willfully blind to the fact that they have a strategic in not just our land, but our resources. and they're doing it methodically. rachel: i'm old enough to remember the kohl war, the '80s. i just can't imagine a similar situation where we would have allowed the soviet union to come in here and buy swaths of land. there was an interview with a sixth generation iowa farmer. she says it's not just the land, she's concerned about patented genetically-engineered seeds. listen. >> the bottom line gets thinner and thinner and tighter and tighter. when china steals that ip from a seed company, that money has to be made up somewhere, and so unfortunately, the u.s. farmer is the one that's going to deal with it. rachel: not a big fan of genetically-modified seeds personally -- [laughter] but they are produced by
4:13 am
american companies, they are patented, and, you know, china -- pete: so they're not just stealing our intellectual property, they're stealing our seeds. rachel: yes, they are. now, i would like us to go back before they had genetically modify because i think that has a lot of health modifications. pete: i love corn on the cob that's this big. [laughter] rachel: there's a lot of things that happens to those seeds, and i think that's actually a huge topic for another day. but again, this is about the chinese stealing our intellectual property rights which heir doing, by the way, across every sector. will: meanwhile, we thought we'd end this top of the 7:00 hour on the east coast with a bit of joy for you. rachel: comedy -- pete: and wisdom. will: joy and wisdom from vice president kamala harris. >> the next steps in our work together will be about further expanding our partnerships. we are discuss the work that we will do together to strength
