until the deadly wildfires hit. here is what the white house is telling the public about joe biden's visit on monday. >> today we announce the president and first lady will be traveling to hawaii on monday to meet with first responders, survivors and state and local officials. >> the president will bring hope and speak with the governor and the state's first lady and talk to survivors and hear that story and that level of hope will be positive for this community. >> you know, folks here on the ground in maui talked to "new york post" saying, i don't want him here. he's coming to maui to look good in front of the camera. another person, christie bowmans we haven't had federal support, local support but nothe federal. main highway into the historic town that has been devastated where all the deaths have occurred is now open.

no one can get into the actual town at this point because they're still searching for remains of humans. every single road has national guard or other people that are blocking off areas. that main highway, at least, you can get in. cell service is spotty and there is not a lot of activity at this point. residents would like to get in, shop owners would like to get in. the search continues for those who have died. let's hear from a fema representative right now. >> need to understand this community is going through an amazingly traumatic event. i can tell you we have personnel that are on the ground year round and embedded in with the state as soon as the fire started so we can understand what resources were needed and help move them in. >> yeah, so that is the thing, president will be here monday.

meanwhile, this island of maui is reeling at this point. the reality of what has occurred and there still is search for ruman remains. cannot say that enough. on top of that, people want to know how the fire startd and trying to figure out why the sirens didn't go off, why alerts were not given to people. they are justified to ask those questions and maybe we'll get answers in the coming days and when politicians come in, they come in with hope and prayer, but what does that do for real answers and real lives? not a lot. >> todd: amazing people of maui need help and a weekend doesn't seem like they are getting anything, that is horrible. robert ray, thank you. tropical storm hillary moving toward southern california. it builds in eastern pacific, officials say it could reach hurricane status as early as

today. >> carley: the storm formed off the coast of mexico. dangerous underwent consists. senior meteorologist janice dean. the storm is making big-time news. >> janice: i was just speaking to todd, who lived in this area for years. southern california, bringing heavy rain and winds, this is a desert area, this is going to be a huge story. here is tropical storm hillary, we have warm water in and around the system in the pacific ocean and going to come up toward mexico and move into southern california. we think on monday 60 mile per hour storm in the northeast, maybe that is not a big deal. this is desert area. this is going to be a tremendous alert system for southern california with heavy rainfall and those gusty winds.

here is trajectory of the storm. it approaches southern california, the coast there. we are going to get a plume of moisture toward the southwest and vegas. this is going to be a huge story. look at the rainfall totals, five to eight, eight to 12 inches. again, i can't stress it, this area can't take a lot of water, it can't be absorbed into the ground. this will make headlines and we'll start to see preparations right now. we have some time to get people alert. going into sunday and monday, heavy rain alert for the los angeles area and i want to point your attention to the atlantic, this is time we ramp things up in the atlantic in terms of tropical activity and there is quite a bit we'll need to pay attention to. >> todd: focusing on l.a., you

are right, when that place gets a little rain issue the city shuts down. there is nowhere for it to go and people are not used to dealing with it. if southern california gets what you are predicting, i do not know what it will look like, i am not being hyperbolic. >> janice: i agree. the president is going to maui and might need to focus also on southern california. >> todd: hope it moves to the coast, doesn't look like that. >> carley: new york police officers being praised for taking down a suspect waving a pistol in a busy intersection, warn you, this video may be hard to watch. >> carley: brandi cruz joins me now. good morning to you. senator tim scott is moving up, he is number three in fox news power ranking, he is only candidate outside of donald trump and ron desantis to have double-digit polling in two states. what do you make of this? >> i think it is important at this stage. sometimes i think, polling, not again. it is important with what is happening with the former president. republicans would be silly not to take serious consideration in, who will it be? looking at who is in third place and who is rising and gaining momentum. i'm a big fan of common sense, that is what i say everyday, give common sense a comeback. everybody is like common sense, what are you doing specifically,

how are you willing to work with the other party and fix issues facing our country. >> todd: people have come up to me and said, i will probably vote for somebody else, i would love if tim scott is the nominee, that shows how he is. big reason why tim scott is so high in the power ranking because of his huge advertising campaign. 40 million committed by his super pack. is it a stretch, to think with donald trump's money going to legal bills to fight an indictment that seems to come every single week, there is potential path for tim scott simply based upon the money? >> i think it would be a stretch this far out to say there wasn't. look at donald trump in 2016, during that campaign cycle, when he came down, i thought, this guy. he got attention, wall to wall

air time, didn't have to pay for time on tv, the media gave it to him for free. with what is going with the former president, it is interesting to see who catches fire and how quickly that can happen. desantis, to watch his poll numbers sink the way they are sinking, if you would have told me that would happen, i would think, he would have to blow it for that to happen. and vivek is getting more attention in the news corresponding to a rise in polling. at this stage, anything can happen. >> carley: absolutely, on the vivek ramaswamy part, he's doubled polled numbers from june to now, from 5% to 11%. we said in fox news power ranking, tim scott is in third. he is in third place behind donald trump and ron desantis. he was on sean hannity last

night. >> for most of my 20s, i understand where young people are coming from, disaffected by politicians, bush, mccain didn't inspire me, mitt romney didn't inspire me. >> carley: he's a self-described maga republicans, but he does appeal to young voters and independents and sometimes those groups don't mix together. in his case, it does. how do you explain his surge in support? >> i see parity to what happened with donald trump. media plays a huge role who catches fire and who does not. vivek is savvy when it comes to social media, that has a lot to do with the younger generation. i saw master glass in political discourse he had with a

nonbinary independent journalist who approached him, wanted to start something. i thought, wow, that guy is on to something. when people talk to me about the presidential election, vivek is like the dirty word to me, is it okay if i bring up that vivek is interesting. is that okay? there is someone who is unique, it was yang in 2020, interesting guy, relatable, i see that in vivek. >> carley: i agree, he sort of has a cult following similar to bernie sanders. different politics, but one to watch for now. we have the debate next week, candidates being forced to prepare for two different debates if trump is there or not. certainly something to watch. thank you for joining us.

on the house oversight committee. from a legal perspective, this is practically impossible, most simple case i ever had took longer than six months and they did not have 19 co-defendants and entire nation looking at the trial. whether georgia or other cases from a political perspective, isn't it clear this is attempt to keep donald trump distracted and off the campaign trail? >> 100%. if you look at the schedule you showed now, unattainable for anybody. in the middle of the election, and the former president and i have not always seen eye to eye, but when you look at this, no one anyone in this country can have a fair trial when it is predetermined and it has been written. fani willis launched new fundraising website this week to

on this. this is an example of doctor that is leading this gender identity and campaign pushing it on kids. now we're telling kids to be a minotaur. what are they going to do, put horns on them? this person has authority to push gender transition. >> carley: she is leaning into this saying it is okay you feel this way as opposed to do you feel this way? when you have a child who identifies as transgender and there is real gender dismofria some people have. if you lean into it, they are so young and maybe will change their mind down the road. how often does something like that happen? >> that is the issue, when you have doctors planting the seed. the child is not thinking about their identity and it is being pushed on them. schools are transitioning kids

without parents knowing. that is harmful. some days kids might want to be pirate, astronaut, you don't go affirming that. this is commonplace and we see time and time again school districts pushing this. >> carley: this federal appeals court ruled in maryland schools don't have to tell parents if their children identify as transgender at school whachl do you think about that and what dangers can be presented because of secrecy? >> you had three groups that took this to federal appeals court and the court said the parent never stated the child was transgender in the first place. this school was telling them what their preferred pronouns were and they change their mind and fluctuate. they are impressionable.

when you teach this, that is harmful and parents are getting upset this is being done behind their back. >> carley: tell us about yourself. i've been through the detransition process before. adult can make decisions on their own and we accept that and it is accepting society, but when it is pushed on kids. i've written a book and discussed this about how harmful to push this on kids and how we're seeing rise in particularly young teenage girls undergoing surgery and puberty blocker and it is a harmful approach, kids don't understand long-term ramifications of these things. >> carley: you have a powerful voice on these topics. thank you for joining us. >> todd: britney spears husband
