century flooding. will: california governor gavin newsom declaring a state of emergency for southern california where some areas are being ordered to evacuate, and some locals are starting to see it. >> my wife went to costco this weekend, he figured it was going to be crazy. she drove by yesterday, it was crazy. people trying to stock the up on everything like it's the end of the world or something. rachel: disneyland resort is planning to close early today ahead of the storm while universal studios says they'll just monitor the situation closely. let's turn to chief meteorologist, the chief, rick reichmuth, for our fox weather forecast. rick: yeah. first time ever l.a. has been under a tropical storm warning. two tropical storms is have made landfall from what we know in history, this probably won't either. storm's starting to get a little raggedy. it's a significant tropical run

storm, tropical rain, a warmer air mass holds a lot more moisture, and we'll see that rainfall falling at a much higher rate when this storm comes onshore. we're already starting to see it. this is the center of a storm that's going to track somewhere across southern california and eventually up through nevada, but we'll see widespread impacts from really significant rain, some spots that will get aer year's worth or maybe two years' worth just in a a couple of days. this is the sand yea i go area, this is just one model's depiction. a lot of areas around 1-2 inches of rain. generally, when you get rain across much of the west, you get thunderstorms that cause isolated rain. this is a lot of people getting a lot of rain, and that's why the flooding threat is so much more significant. l.a. downtown, 2-3 inches. higher elevations, 3-5 inches. santa barbara, we might see a cutoff where malibu gets it, and that could bring significant

issues where we've had some of the burns. las vegas, up in the mountains, that's going to create significant washes can and all those dry river beds will getwater early quickly, and it's going to cause some flooding. rachel: hey, rick, really quick question for you. in arizona they're very dry, and i have people canning asking me, is this going to help hem get rain? because they need it. rick: you make a really good point. for a lot of people, there's good coming out of it, because you need the moisture. of western arizona looks like it's going to get it e, eastern arizona, probably not. and phoenix is right in that cusp. probably a few showers but not significant rain. rachel: thank you, rick. will: all right. president biden has jetted off, second vacation this month. he is headed now towards, i believe, lake tahoe, california, after being on the beach in delaware. now, this is, of course, as stories about his son hunter biden are beginning to be recognized even in places like

"the new york times" which has reported that david weiss, the now-special counsel to investigate the hunter biden scandal, was prepared to do nothing. pete: it's amazing. will: to charge hunter biden with nothing until two irs whistleblowers stepped up resulting in those tax and gun charges that were eventually collapsed because they were trojan horses to do away with all of hunter's potential crimes. but at first if, guys, nothing. rachel: it's unbelievable. "the new york times," by way, is saying this, earlier the year the times found mr. weiss appeared willing to forgo any prosecution at all, and his office came close to ending the investigation without requiring a guilty plea on any charges. but the corresponding -- the correspondence reveals that his position relayed through his staff change in the spring around the time that a pair of irs officials on the case, those were the whistleblowers, accused

the justice department of hamstringing the investigation. mr. weiss suddenly demanded mr. biden plead guilty to committing tax offenses. and you'll remember joseph ziegler and this is what he had to say. >> while the impression has been conveyed by the u.s. attorney in delaware that he has similar powers to that of a special counsel in this case, free rein to do as needed, that was not the case. it appeared to me based on what i experienced that the u.s. attorney in delaware in our investigation was constantly hamstrung, limited and marginalized by doj officials as well as other u.s. attorneys. i still think that a special counsel is necessary for this investigation. rachel: so i was just going to say this is a democrat, he has admitted to being a democrat, he also happens to be gay, so is not exactly like, you know, what they might want to paint as a, you know, republican with a vendetta against the bidens. pete: not a partisan, a guy who

just wants to -- rachel: yeah. pete: and when he says we need a special counsel, he doesn't mean david can weiss -- rachel: the guy who tried to stop him -- pete: the guy who wanted to do nothing and and give away the farm is the guy who's now the special counsel even though it's supposed to be somebody from the if outside. staggering, when you -- to get a little bit of a glimpse in that article of the extent do which they were willing to wipe it all clean. nothing. rachel: and weiss has been a longtime loyalist to the bidens. if you turn on the other channels, you'll hear them say, well, you know, he was trump-appointed -- can. pete: number one comment they make. rachel: has nothing to do with trump appointing him. senators have to approve him. the senators happen to be democrat, so that's the only person they could get through. this guy, weiss, has proven himself time and time again to be a loyalist, and this is the perfect example that you would come up with nothing on hunter biden? it's absolutely incredible. and then that he would be appointed by merrick garland who

we know is a hack to be the special counsel is really just, it's not just an insult to the american people and to justice, but also to these whistleblowers. can you imagine how frustrating it would be to risk your whole career and come forward -- pete: with real crimes in plain sight in the front of you. will: and while that's being discussed in the special prosecutor's office or what is now the special prosecutor's office, then just a delaware federal prosecutor, hunter biden's living in the white house. here's what tudor dixon had to say. >> it's bizarre that we're hearing now that he is sneak thely living in the white house, and the american people don't know. but the timing is what is the shady part here. of the fact that he is negotiating this deal on the white house grounds, and then he goes in and finds out that the deal doesn't go through, judge thinks it's fishy because, as you said, the judge said this is unprecedented. we have never seen anything like this before. and then a few days later mysteriously, let's not forget,

that there's cocaine found at the white house, and everybody goes we have no idea how this could have gotten here. well, ho-hum, we also didn't know that hunter biden was staying here. kind of a bizarre coincidence, don't you think? rachel: yeah. we should find out. we have a right to know how cocaine got -- pete: we won't know. it's over. rachel: the situation in nashville -- pete: nashville manifesto, won't know. supreme court leaker, won't know. other media, they haven't talked about it since the day it happened, and and they probably didn't even talk about it then. will: well, meanwhile, you probably at this point heard of oliver anthony. he is the country bluegrass singer who's gone absolutely viral. he's gone mega-viral with his hit song rich men north of richmond. it, though, has really, interestingly, gathered pushback from the mainstream media. let me show you some of the headlines from the guardian, rich men north of richmond

punches down. no surprise, the right wing loves it. "the washington post" said why the right suddenly loves this country singer, and the washington post, oliver anthony and the mainstream thing of conspiracy theories. i don't know what they're referencing in terms of conspiracy theories in that song. pete: they're referencing the miners on an island somewhere. rachel: you don't care about coal miners, but you let epstein do whatever he wanted with minors. conservatives are not the only ones -- i mean, liberals are not the only ones. really weirdly, the national review went after him too kind of doing -- trapped in the 1990s and they try to do this whole, you know, america's the land of opportunity -- pete: go get a job if you want to make more. will: the point of the song isn't to punch down, and to hit welfare recipients. the point of the song is to talk about how some people in this

country based on a corrupt system don't or get kicked down and don't benefit from this corruption while others reap the rewards. it isn't. we shouldn't take care of people on welfare, they shouldn't be buying fudge rounds. pete: gaming the system. will: it's gaming the system. maybe if you're on food stamps, obesity isn't the best means test. there should be some kind of means test. either one, it's working a system that pun if punish -- punishes the working man. rachel: ray i take that even deeper, because as you know, i really care about food policy in this country, and big food is making many americans sicker and fatter, and it's really unfortunate that our system doesn't set it up so that that people on welfare have choices to buy healthier foods. will: yeah. rachel: you see coca-cola, for example, hobbying to make sure that their diabetes water gets on to food stamps and that you can buy coca-cola.

most americans would say i don't want you to buy with coca-cola with the money that we give you to feed you and your children and be healthy, right, because you don't have the money. but there's a whole system -- pete: you punching down again. rachel: now i'm punching down. no, i'm punching up at corporate big food and big ag and everybody that's making us sick. pete: griff left the show yesterday and went to north carolina because oliver anthony had a show there, and i don't think he'd done an interview -- rachel: no, this is the first one. pete: griff went to the performance to see if he could get an interview. here is some of it yesterday. watch. >> reporter: are you surprised that the public has reacted the way they did? do cu you realize the crowd is touched by your music this? >> yeah. well, it resonates, the suffering in the world right now like even in our own country. we've had years of people feeling depressed and hopeless, and every time you look at the tv or get online, everything's

7:30 a.m. eastern time. good work. pete: all right. we turn now to a few additional headlines starting with a fox wildfire alert. at least one person is dead after a wind-driven fire washington state trip untiles in size in just hours yesterday. at least 185 structures have been destroyed. a state of emergency has been declared in spokane county with thousands of residents evacuated. authorities say the fire was 0% contained as of yesterday afternoon, and it spread across 95 acres. and the biden administration's quietly auctioning unused portions of president trump's border wall according to a report from the new york post. approximately 81 lots of steel, structural tubes have reportedly been sold for about $2 million. it comes after the senate passed a bill that would force the administration to extend the wall or hand steel over to texas. critics say the administration is trying to sell off the

leftover wall before the gop-led house can pass that bill. rachel: unbelievable. pete: so you, too, can put trump's border wall in your backyard? [laughter] rachel: it's probably going to go around one of their mansions. pete: it's amazing they want to get past actually having to use it. rachel: because we don't have a border problem right now. pete: no, we don't. well, it's the last day of the women's world cup after sweden beat trail ya yesterday in the -- australia yesterday for the match for third place. the final match is underway and could determine if our very own brian kill immediate will have to write a big check. >> says england win the world cup. the lion necessaries are coming for you, and they're going to eat you for lunch. brian: all right. i'm going to say the u.s. wins head to head and ones the whole world cup. will this -- there you go. pete: did he take the bet? rachel: if i were p if iers, i would say yes.

rachel: crime is now so bad in chicago that a local advocacy groups put up signs begging gangs to stop shooting at each other from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. so kids aren't caught in the crossfire. is that a really the best we can do? here to react is project hood founder and executive director pastor corey brooks. pastor, thank you for joining us this morning. so these signs were put up by a group called native sons, an advocacy group that was started after a 5-year-old was shot and killed last summer. and most of the murders that we know of children are between the hours that this flier says. i know this group is well intentioned. is this the right way to handle what is clearly an epidemic in chicago, pastor? >> well, i want to applaud the advocate cat city group that is trying to stop violence. anyone who's committed to stop violence at any times needs to

be applauded. the problem is we're asking these immoral individuals to do something moral, and the sad commentary of it is is that our city is lagging -- behind in trying to solve this issue. it definitely calls for awe all people to have all hands on keg -- deck if we're going to solve the violence in the chicago. rachel: you come at this from such an interesting perspective. a, you're a very invested in the community person, but you're also a man of god. and so tell me how much of this can be solved by, you know, government and what you think they should do to help this, and then let's also talk about the other piece of the puzzle which is the family. >> right -- rachel: and the lack of morality that you just talked about. >> you're right, you know, sin is running rampant and unharnessed across america, specifically in the city the of chicago where we're having violence at alarming rates. and if i've just decided i'm not going to wait on government to

save the day because it has not happened thus far. i believe anytime we continue to wait on government, we're only setting ourselves up for failure. we have to take the bull by the horns and do do the work ourselves, we have to roll occupy you are concern -- up our sleeves. we have to invest in families, try to get them to be together. 80% of the households are single parent households, and a lot of these young men are growing up without fathers, mentors, and it's very important we come alongside families and assist them with male mentors. and, of course, we have to do it across the spectrum. and that's the reason why we've started an organization called project hood, helping others obtainny, because we see the issues, but we also belief we have solutions as well. rachel: so 80% of black families in chicago are, do not have a male as the head of that family, is that what you're telling me? >> a yeah. 80% of the households this our neighborhood. i'm in one of the neighborhoods on the south side of chicago, they do not have a male in the

household. not only do they not have a male in the household, but they're lacking male mentorship in the community. so it's important that men like myself and other brothers come alongside these families and provide positive mentors especially for these young men who are getting caught up in gang violence and doing activities they should not be participating in. it's real important that we get involved in the lives of these young people at a very early age. rachel: yeah. i mean, this is clearly an epidemic. those numbers are staggering, and let's hope that mentorship can help at least reverse it a little bit. i'm with you, i believe that this is the heart of the problem. if we solve this, or at least make some headway on it, we'll make some headway on the crime numbers that you can and i start talking about. pastor corey brooks, thank you for joining us and god bless you for all the work that that you're doing. >> thank you. god bless you as well. rachel: all right. straight ahead, a fox hurricane alert, hillary expected to hit the u.s. just hours there from now as warnings grow for

right here is the storm, very ragged at this point. that's to be expected for a storm moving towards the north, moving over cooler waters now. it's also meeting up with a system that's going to get a little bit more moisture owl out of this storm, and we're concern about significant flooding. this is the track through the very center of the storm. these storms are very large, and so we're to going to get a lot of moisture here all the way up in toward parts of nevada. across the atlantic we're headed towards the active portion of the atlanta hurricane season, and we've got a number of disturbances. one of them right here, 50% chance of development as it moves towards west texas. desperately needs moisture and a break from some of these temperatures, that, i think, in a few days is going to bring some moisture at least towards south texas. we'll be watching that one closely. all right, guys, over to you. rachel: thank you, rick. pete: this week, will, as you know, went to see the devastation this maui firsthand from the largest wildfire in hawaii's history.

will: on the ground i got to meet the incredible men and women coming together to help the survivors in lahaina. watch. muck. ♪ ♪ will: all right. we've got unique access, we were invited into hawaiian homes where they set up a community-based store relief center. it's like a shopping a mall. this popped up within days of the disaster. you walk through this area where everybody can come get when they need, right? and then you see -- ♪ >> it was gnarly. i was the only human there running around. i don't know if i should say this, but all the hine ares down, power lines down, telephone posts, smoke, fires still, wind and a lot of bodies. >> things have been hard to get

just because of, like, the road closures and stuff like that. will: how's it coming in, by boat? >> boat, plane, helicopter, trucks. people have just been making it happen. really grateful for everybody's efforts. pete: will, your coverage so far has been phenomenal. will: i have seen things, pete, that will make you believe in america. it is incredible what citizens -- not the government, pete -- what citizens are doing for one another. what does that mean here, community? >> you know, in hawaii community is love. community is aloha. but at this time we've got to be right, do right and help everybody that we can. everything that you see here everybody and anybody in this community has 100% access. we don't want to hold anything back from anybody. we're just fortunate to have the friends that we have that are

parents and the children do have a right to know. and that's the backbone of education in america, in our country. pete: that's parents sounding off as now a new jersey judge temporarily blocking three school districts from from enforcing a requirement to notify parents if their child changes gender identity at school. new jersey mother of four jeannie iverson joins us now. >> thank you or few for having me. pete: what's the impact of this? 2 hope was, okay, new jersey may have these radical policies, but if i live in this town and our school board decides we're going to notify parents, maybe we're okay. now a judge has blocked that. what does that mean in. >> it puts a barrier between parents and the teachers and their children. it's really putting a lot of stress on a teacher when a child goes to them and is, or like, confiding in them and telling hem that that they want an

accommodation to use a different bathroom. like, if my daughter was to go to her teacher and say, hey, this is who i want to be at school and i want to use the boys' bathroom, the teacher cannot go back and tell the parents. so for me, i feel like what happens if my daughter uses the boys' bathroom and something happens to her in there? is the school going to notify me that something happened to my child in the bathroom or they're not? i don't know. like, where does the line get drawn? and who, who's responsible for, i mean, if she was ever, hike, sexually harassed or physically attacked? pete: who loves your kids more than you? i mean, the answer's obvious. but why does the school see you and other parents like you as the bad guy in these potential scenarios in. >> well, unfortunately, i feel like it's coming from the top of the biden administration. i feel like they are trying to make the parents seem like

they're the bad ones. like, they're trying to make our kids feel afraid of us, that they can't confide in their own families, that they need to share this with other people other than us. pete: it's staggering, it's almost revolutionary, actually. you -- countries that undergo revolutions turn parents against kids and kids against parents. >> yeah. pete: are you seeing this, by the way, in school districts, kids transitioning because they feel like their parents won't know, don't know? >> i feel like most kids that have transitioned, their parents do know. but for some reason now it's just a push of a lot of people want to say, well, we can't transition because our parents aren't accepting of it, and we might be abused at home. pete: abused, that word is always thrown around. what do you do right now? the how do you as a parent

handle the situation? >> for me, i am very open with my children, so i have a very good relationship with them. 9 they know that they can come to me and speak to me about anything, and i'm their number one. i have actually had conversation with them. i said would you feel more comfortable going to a teacher or someone else and speaking to them about my kind of, you know, personal issue, and they were, like, why would we do that? they were, like, why would we go talk to them about it?
