nbc and des moines register say we could be persuaded. and i was talking to one of the candidates yesterday. who is going to be on the debate stage. and they said, you know, we don't have to win so much. we just can't lose. because ultimately there are so many donors who are watching. and one big mistake next thing you know they are going to pull the plug on the cash. >> i think whether it says could be persuaded people want to see how everything shakes out with these indictments on trump. mind made up, how are they talking about? majority is donald trump. some people are so sick of seeing what is happening to him in this country they already made up their mind going to vote for him. like his policies or ron desantis. we have heard the diners say that the reps we are watching more to learn more about them to hear what their policies are to find out who might be a good vice presidential candidate and i think a lot of people will watch because they are curious. tomorrow is a great night. so fun. now it's gearing up and we have been waiting a long time for in.

lightning in his house and trying to trump again what these people have gone through on their island by talking about lightning hitting his house and delaware and almost losing a corvette and a cat? >> steve: not exactly the same thing. i have been reading this morning ron desantis has 450eurd a very prominent de debate coach to hep him get through this cycle. you he has backed away from the super pac you are referring to where it's talking about hitting vivek with a sledge hammer i have been thinking over the last day or so thinking about what is going to happen. i think i know why for sure why donald trump didn't show up. i know you were talking about the legal exposure he might face if he said something that could be used against him in a court of law. his lawyers are probably saying don't do that i think there are three things. one, he does have a really big lead. why not just sit on the lead? number two, i think he is worried about talking about the indictment and stuff like that.

we're going to be talking about it. it's going to dominate the news cycle on thursday. and then all the media will focus on donald trump. fulton county. >> brian: the thing it's done though is these indictments have kept donald trump in the news. but it looks so over the top. each one has such vulnerability towards defense. each one has made people go wait a second, it's almost as if you are going to blitz -- instead of just saying i'm going to pick a candidate. you are blitzing my party. you are taking down a former president. you are not letting him compete. and that has made people go to him in a way that i don't even think president trump projected and i don't think the democrats have game planned this out. no one has ever been down this road before with one indictment, let alone 4. and then when you see what this georgia prosecutor has done. these legal experts have said that this georgia prosecutor, with these 19 other defendants has held up so much and taken attention away from jack smith

movie? >> carley: like 20 bucks, maybe. >> steve: this is a baking sale sunday. >> carley: big time. >> steve: got movies. meanwhile, let's talk a little bit about health news. florida health officials have reported that 5 people have died from flesh eating bacteria in the tampa bay area since january. the bacteria is frequently found in warm barackish sea water because it requires salt to live also warm temperatures like right now let's bring in dr. nesheiwat good morning to you. >> good morning, steve. >> steve: that's a scary thing that bacteria is killing people. what do we need to know about it. >> yes, usually we worry about sun burns or shark bites now bacteria. you go into the water and happen to have an open wound on your skin, maybe a cut or abrasion, and go into water where the bacteria is found.

then that can enter your skin through the wound you have. necro tiding fashionitis. fancy word for flesh-eating bacteria. stay out of the water if you have an open wound or sore. sometimes you might not know if you have a cut or scrape. quick shower, wash with soap and water once you get out of the water. if you do find that after being in the sea water you have a lesion or have an infection, so see a doctor right away. can i treat with you antibiotics if cut early enough. >> steve: that's the key. i was reading that new york state health officials released guidance. killed two residents. so your word of caution if after have you been in the water you get some sort of an infection go see the doctor pronto, right? >> absolutely, absolutely. don't forget the higher risk are the most vulnerable population as we saw with covid.

so elderly, those with immune compromised situations and if you are pregnant as well you are at higher risk. >> steve: good reason to stay out of the water sometimes. also, there's a new study that has found that more young people are being diagnosed with cancer of all things. do we know why that is? >> i think it's multi-factorial, steve. first of all, 5 to 10% of cancers are genetic but the reason why we are seeing more cancers than those under the age of 50, for example those in 30's, 20% increase in cancers things like thyroid cancer, colon cancer, breast cancer, we believe in part it's environmental, obesity plays a role. if you smoke, if you have a poor nutrition. if you are not getting enough sleeve, if you are exposed to chemicals or toxins gutierrez microby up as well. >> a moment ago you mentioned covid and people are starting to talk about flu shots. they are also talking about --

there is apparently going to be a new covid booster. the administration is going to be muching that. who should get the covid boo booster? >> that's a good question, steve. first of all, i don't think it should be mandated. if you are in a high risk group. we know who the high risk groups are, seniors i will derly. obesity. those are the folks we need to focus on. now, if someone wants to go get a booster, that's their right. they can go and do it. it shouldn't be mandated. we should stay focused on the most vulnerable groups. i only diagnosed about 3 or 4 case as day in the past week so, a slight uptick. nowhere near where we were, you know, at the beginning ever the pandemic. so i still think we are in a good place when it comes to covid. >> steve: we just had those headlines up and two of them regarded masks. lyons gate is bringing back mask mandates to the office and, of course, private employers can do anything they want.

but college morris brown college in atlanta has reinstated mask mandate for everybody on campus. of the people who you were talking about people at risk. is there anybody who should be wearing a mask? >> if you choose to wear a mask, maybe if you are undergoing cheney for cancer and you are in a crowded area, then that's up to you if you want to take that extra step to protect yourself, do it. but these type of masks, steve, these little surgical mask also not protect you. if you are going to wear a mask and choose to wear a of course that. then these are the better quality masks to make sure that you are protected. but, again, it should be an option. not mandated. know your risk and take the steps to protect yourself. the good thing is we have got the treatment for covid now that we didn't have three years ago. so once again we're moving in the right direction. >> dr. nesheiwat, thank you very much. i know you have got a busy day being a doctor. thanks for dropping by early today. >> thank you. have a great day. >> steve: you bet. it is 6:30 here in the east. and we have got a fox weather

>> brian: we're back with a fox weather alert. flooding hitting parts of southern california and nevada. destroying roads and stranding residents. >> steve: nicole valdez joins us from cathedral city with the very latest. good morning, nicole. >> steve, brian, ainsley, good morning to you all. saladly you are looking at a very messy situation here. in fact, nearly 50 people had to be rescued from their homes after being trapped by look at this inches of mud. you will notice the road behind me still closed. there is even cars still stuck in it back there if you can make that out.

let me point out really why it took a forklift, a front loadser to get those people out of their homes, i mean, take a look at how thick of a mess we have got here. it's going to take a long time to clean up. show you video of that rescue effort. and we know it's not just happening here in the coachella valley. san bernardino county officials are still searching for one woman reported missing and still trying to get to several others that are still stranded in their homes it. san all-out effort here to start that clean-up process. meanwhile, other big news, the i 10 finally back open in both directions. of course it's going to be slow moving as the roads there are still absolutely covered in mud, guys. >> steve: a big cleanup going on there nicole, thank you for the live report from cathedral city in california. our next guest is with team rubicon. of course team rubicon helps finds volunteers and veterans to help communities affected by

natural disasters and this certainly qualifies. >> ainsley: art della cruise is in los angeles and joins us now. good morning to you good morning to you gray shirts are going to be out and about in town. what exactly are you planning on doing? our volunteers which we call gray shirts are using the same skills that they used to respond to hurricanes across the country such as hurricane ian. primarily lee acing with the officials understand unmet needs be able to bring our skills and capabilities to help people in these disasters. it could be anything from saw work where we are helping to remove downed trees to debris removal and mucking out homes that might be flooded. >> steve: sure. art, when team rubicon goes into an area generally as we know, historically have you i don't know no areas along the gulf coast along the atlantic. when were you ever called to

hurricane west coast? >> first one for me. it's been 82 or 84 years since something like this has happened. some of these flooding events are things we have seen mirrored in places associated with the atmospheric rivers earlier in northern california. and people trained with these capabilities and skills. they are familiar with what needs to be done, to ensure that these homeowners can be put back into place and keep our volunteers safe. so we're ready for the missions in front of us. >> brian: right. one interesting challenge out there is it's been dry. now it's getting wet. and they are always a risk of mud slides. have you had a chance to see anything? have you been briefed about what is staring you in the face when the sun comes up? >> yeah. our understanding is they expected rapid amounts of rain in a short amount of time and the actual rain was longer period of time than expected. which allowed some absorption. 72 hours after the rains come you are still in a window of
