okay. all the preparations for the debate. the behind scenes look at the stable. actually see that with bill and dana in the morning, first. please remember if you can't catch us live set your dvr 3 p.m. in the west and 6 p.m. in the east. that's it for "special report," fair balanced and unafraid. debate is coming. laura is here. ♪ ♪ >> laura: hi, everyone. i'm laura ingraham. the actor and comedian rob schneider that's going to be fun joining me later in the show on what would be and should be a wake-up call for the elites. but, first, when donald trump traveled to puerto rico after the devastated by cat 5 hurricane, the tv jackals were not happy. >> people suffering treating basically like peasants, here, a paper towel for you. here's a paper tall for you. >> it's totally disrespectful.

not only that, it's not the american way. that's not the spirit the american people to be throwing and lobbing paper towels at us as if we were animals. >> laura: when melissa went along to offer support, she was portrayed as heartless as well, not for anything she said or did, but for what she wore. >> i mean, i don't think she could spell it out any more clearly. to say me, it's not a hidden message. this is as overt as it gets. >> nothing the first lady does is an accident. especially when you have a giant sign on the back of your coat that you know people are going to be seeing. >> maybe it's a moment of true candor from her. this administration doesn't care about these kids. >> laura: so the calculated hysteria lasted for days on both of those stories, nonstories. yesterday, when joe biden finally took a pause from his lake tahoe vacation staying at

tom steyer's $1 million house and went to visit the site of the worst fire in american history. the press offered no such scrutiny after even seeing the way he addressed the suffering. >> i don't want to compare difficulties, but we have a little sense, jill and i, what it's like to lose a home. years ago now, 15 years ago i was in washington doing meet the press. it was a sunny sunday. and lightning struck at home on a little lake that's outside of our home -- not a lake, a big pond. to make a long story short, my i almost lost my wife, my 67 corvette, and my cat. >> laura: the cat. now, who is really the heartless one here again? now, let's all reflect on this for a moment. 115 of our fellow americans are

dead, more than 800, including many children apparently, they are still missing, many presumed dead. but, please, joe, tell us more about how you almost lost your fancy car and your cat. now, his sob story about the house almost burning down is more joe malarkey. it was a kitchen fire. i don't know, maybe the cat's whiskers got singhed. it's just like the maui fire. but, let's be fair. at least when joe lies, he embellishes the story with dramatic details. >> all kidding aside, i watched the firefighters, the way they responded, sometimes smoke is so thick from the windows out it was that thick inside the home. >> laura: whoa, wait, he watched the firefighters put out the kitchen blaze? he is not just a pathological liar, apparently he has magical

or they're totally ignorant. they never call him on it. this is -- this is astounding. >> yeah, laura. what bothers me so much is joe biden is not empathetic man. is he a selfish man. is he a selfish man, an old man who all he knows how to do is press play. he presses play on the same old broken tunes he has been telling for decades. it doesn't matter what the circumstance is. when someone is in the middle of bereavement. do you know what he want this to hear? they don't want to hear you also had something. they don't want you to compare your tragedy even if it's a kitchen fire to their real fire. they want to marry you. they want you to express sympathy about what they are going through. their loss, not your cat. not your corvette. that's what they want to hear from the president. and as for him comparing it to his house fire, i was thinking that would be like on september 11th, george bush or me saying that i understand what the nation is going through because somebody once broke on to my front porch and stole a package. joe biden is just out of touch
