brian, so how far are you there away from the schotts brewery where probably laverne and shirley you probably just woke them up. >> brian: we didn't go to the manufacturing plant. but there are a lot of contenders to be the actually brewery where laverne and shirley cut their teeth in the beer business. a lot of breweries and brauts wl bratwurst. there is a few of them. they are all pulsing last night. >> steve: other breweries? >> brian: i will say this. this city is pumped up for this debate. they also love their brewers. if those two worlds can coalesce, we will find out because we will be back here in less than a year for the rnc. my first time in milwaukee that i can remember and it is offering everything you need. if you come here, there is no treason leave. there is no reason to vacation. it's got everything. it's even got sunscreen.

>> ainsley: it is the biggest city in wisconsin. it's a battleground state. four of the last six presidential elections, brian, have been decided by less than a percentage point. trump narrowly won that state in 2016 and he lost in 2020. when you talk to the voters on the ground -- i know you have been there talking to people, who do they like? what's your sense? >> well, you are going to see it in a package in about four minutes. i'm going to give you an idea of what it was like on the ground. my sense is there is a lot of "i don't know" there is not one person that could name everybody, all eight that's going to be on the stage because president trump will not be going. but, i think a lot of people are all ears. they are not happy with what is happening. this is a very blue collar area. and that blue collar vote will flip it and by the way both sides believe they are going to win wisconsin. that's why this is a perfect place. i don't know if ronna mcdaniel knows this or not it's a perfect place to put the rnc. they want to show that they care about this state and this city.

presidential race. if jefferson can do it at 33. he is ready to lead at 38. he is going to be the youngest person up on that stage. he said he is not backing down. hitting the gym with his wife, using fitness to prepare for the debate here. that was nice of her to partake in that pushing back on nikki haley who criticized him for his foreign policy proposals defending himself, listen. >> have a lot of retreated making america less safe. >> how are you going to handle that if she brings it up on the debate stage. >> if somebody breaks your car for 25 years you don't hand the keys over to the same person. >> foreign policy experience as a badge of honor. >> and nikki haley says she is ready are to the debate stage. caught up with her on the iowa state fair. she told us no one can outwork her. under estimating her ready to hit the stage hit me with your best shot some of her new

commercials. we saw mike pence spending time in wisconsin at an event with riley gaines. talk to frequently trying to connect with the crowds on that topic. what can we expect out here later tonight besides seeing all the candidates as they prepare to get on the debate stage? we can tell you the dnc has booked a plane to fly around milwaukee dragging a banner reading 2024. a race for the extreme maga base. when we talk to voters out here ainsley and steve, i keep saying the wrong name, steve, they are saying how excited they are for the debate because they want to learn about who else is out there on the debate stage because they don't know about a lot of these other candidates. >> steve: you are exactly right, alexis, thank you very much. >> thanks. >> steve: tonight see all 8 of those essentially running for second place because the frontrunner donald trump is not going to be in attendance. he has got activities tomorrow. we'll talk about that a little later on. but people are going to go shopping. they are going to watch the debate tonight on fox. then they are going to go you know human nature, okay, of those 8 people, who did i like

the best? okay this guy got the zingers in and stuff like that. the big question regarding ron desantis is can he reset? remember, he started with a whole bunch of dough. and he has gone south in the polls for the most part. but he has got the most at stake. and he undoubtedly, because a number of candidates will not take shots at trump, they will take shots at ron desantis because he is leading right now. we just heard from vivek ramaswamy, talking a little bit about his foreign policy. he has got to do a clean up in aisle 1 on that. because when he says that he would leave taiwan to the chinese after they figured out the semiconductor stuff that he would let russia keep parts of ukraine and stop aid to israel. those are things that a lot of people have problems with. and, finally, chris christie. you know, he has been on the debate stage. he did it 8 times in 2016 and then, of course, he prepared donald trump in 2020. he is number two right now in

new hampshire. he is the most experienced debater and he has a knack for landing memorable attacks. just remember what he did to marco rubio that essentially knocked him out back in 2016. >> ainsley: it's interesting. alexis just played that soundbite of vivek responding to those comments of nikki haley criticizing him for wanting to cut off funding to israel and taiwan. just all the foreign policy gaffes that he has probably said or maybe they're not gaffes he truly believes. this most of america doesn't. he said the lack of foreign policy on my part, i have never done this before, is a badge of honor, which is surprising to me. >> steve: because that -- remember, back in the day, that was the rap against barack obama. that's how he wound up with joe biden because he had 40 years experience. >> ainsley: you said they are really vying for second place. they are saying no. ron desantis says i'm the only one up here that really could be president. everyone else is running for vice president. tim scott said that's hogwash. nikki haley said i don't play

for second. vivek is out there preparing, doing these burpies which is very hard. those knees were really high. >> his wife is amazing. >> ainsley: trying to appeal to the younger audience, tim scott his campaign manager said my advice for tim is just go out and have fun. he is out there with his mom. spending time in prayer, hitting the gym. nikki haley said after more than 80 town halls and rallies, that's made me -- that's given me the best debate prep. chris christie said it's simple, if i get asked a question i answer it. no scripts, i speak my mind, brian. >> brian: yeah, tomorrow, i'm just getting record that donald trump and melania will also be doing burden of proofs on the shoee --burps on the show. ron desantis says this. i'm the second place guy. he says him and his surrogates governor stith and chip roy are fanning out throughout milwaukee and saying look this is a two person race between me and donald trump. he wants that to be the theme after.

you mentioned nikki haley. she quoted pat benatar give me your best shot. that's what she wants. she wants to be engaged. now she has someone to go after on foreign policy. steve, to back you up. some of these things are not lack of experience. he doesn't say i have lack of experience but can you trust me on this i will get good people and get the next colin powell. what his views are are opening him wide up to people to attack and. >> ainsley: criticize. >> brian: try to drive a mac true through. he sat down with martha mccallum yesterday and tried to straighten things out. the atlantic mischaracterized his statements on 9/11. he does not believe we american agents on the plane on 9/11. so, that's good news. i have no problem with his lack of experience. there is a whole bunch of people in washington with foreign policy experience. hopefully that won't work against a president with no experience like it did against donald trump. we will see what happens. the two in the center square. i also thought scott walker had a great line. don't do what i did.

he said i got to the stage and everybody was talking about me. and i talked about my record. your record gets you to the stage. but when you get to the stage, you have to tell the people what you are going to do for them. so that, i think, walters good advice he is talking to ron desantis about that few hours of light to meet the people having a good time. trying to get yesterday for the brewer's game or just trying to enjoy a night out on a tuesday welcome to wisconsin welcome the next president of the united states. for now about the g.o.p. debate. hours away, thousands of opinions about what will be the number one story and number one candidate and it's time to get some of them. let's go. ♪ that's a big deal to have the debate here. i wish trump would have came. >> can you feel the buzz in the city. >> yes. >> you won't be watching. >> no, i won't be watching.

meteorologist janice dean for our fox weather forecast. >> janice: and that was just sort of a weak tropical system, right, that brought all of that flooding to texas. so there's the landfall happened around this time yesterday. 50 mile-per-hour sustained winds. we are still moving some three-point line moisture in from the gulf but the remnants now moving in towards the southwest. and the remnants of hilary as well combined bringing the potential for flooding for parts of the southwest up toward great bay sin not only today and tomorrow but as we get into friday as well. speaking of the tropics we have tropical storm franklin moving over the dominican republic. you know, bringing life-threatening flooding for this region as well as some strong gusty winds. and then we are going to watch this develop over the next couple of days into a hurricane out in the atlantic and still a lot of uncertainty but the east coast, you don't need to keep as eye on that as well as bermuda. we will keep you up to date. brian kilmeade 99 in milwaukee today and not because you're hot. you are going to see a very prepared, a very intelligent and a very hardworking candidate on that stage. there is no one else in this debate who is working as hard as governor desantis and the person who people get to see that. >> brian: been in over 40 counties. nikki haley about done the same thing. she was one of the first. in one of the things that came out was the advice that your pac gave to him about how to handle the debate. that is go after vivek, and when chris christie goes after trump, defend trump. do you hope the governor does that? >> i can tell you this much, governor desantis, every word you are going to hear tonight are directly his thoughts, his words, and his action. we are going. >> brian: because you can't go directly to him. >> absolutely there are laws that would prevent direct coordination. we put out the advice. this is all about governor desantis and his record tonight and 9 opportunity for the american people to see that and the hard work he is doing on the campaign trail. to your point, he has hit around 40 counties in iowa right now. we are looking at over 10,000 people, almost 11,000, i believe, who have signed up already, right now in august to

necessarily and we want to make sure that, well, they get rid of onerous regulations that don't add anything. you know. we want to make sure that our communities are safe. and, of course, for the debaters it's going to be internationally focused as well. so, we don't want anything else that, you know, the rest of america wants. so come and speak to us. don't cede any of our votes to the other party. >> steve: going, in you don't have to tell me who your favorite is. do you have a fave rit of the 8 on the big screen? >> i'm not going to tell you whether i have a fave rit or not. >> steve: you don't have to tell me who it is just do you have a fave rit how think could really do well? >> here what happens we need. so, remember now, that before we know what you're going to do, it's what you're saying that you are going to do, right? minority voters, everybody else, this is where what we are looking for. so we want somebody who is a leader. and they are all leaders.

also came off the pan-american plain as i like it say it was education. education will move all boats. what policies are you going to have? >> steve: sure. >> are they going to move our children to greatness? that's what we want. >> steve: as i look at the eight candidates who will be on the stage tonight, there's one candidate that has been suggested and that is the governor of your state, glenn youngkin. there are stories that big donors are waiting to see, you know, how this group does tonight on fox and if somebody can't really get some traction, they might push him or inquiry whether or not he would like to run. and they have a whole strategy. would it surprise you if glenn youngkin got in? >> well, i don't know that it would surprise me. i know is he a humble man and by the way that's the other thing we are looking for in the character of the leader. we want somebody who is humble. by the way humble doesn't mean weak. it means being meek, strength, of course but it's character. you know, it wouldn't surprise me.
