8:01 pm
the senior correspondent steve harrigan is live in fulton county with the very latest on this. steve, good evening. >> good evening trace. former president trump had posted earlier that he expected to be proudly arrested at 7:30 p.m. this evening. he was just minutes off the mark. the president's plane touched down in atlanta exactly at 7:00 p.m. he had a large motorcade led by several dozen police on motorcycles. they took him directly to that fulton county jail. he arrived at the jail at 7:40, was taken inside the facility and, of course, that facility now notorious being investigated by the justice department both for poor sanitary conditions and for safety as well. he was taken into the jail and he was fingerprinted electronically. also, he had a mug shot taken. former president said that law enforcement officials insisted on the mug shot. the mug shot has now been viewed millions of times online. many people saying the president seems to have an angry frown on during that mug shot.
8:02 pm
also, $200,000 and a preset bail was posted. exactly 15 minutes after he entered, processing was complete, he left, returned to the airport where he said this was a sad day for america. here's the former president. >> if you challenge an election, you should be able to challenge an election. i thought the election was a rigged election, a stolen election, and i should have every right to do that. we did nothing wrong, i did nothing wrong, and everybody knows it. >> reporter: right now here in atlanta, the legal maneuvers have already begun. some of the 19 defendants are pushing for a speedy trial. others are trying move their trials from state to federal court. and, finally, some are fighting to be tried separately, individually, to sever themselves from the other 18. trace, back to you. >> trace: steve harrigan live for us in fulton county georgia, steve thank you. let's bring in vik bajaj and

now, vik. and his new attorney, trump's new attorney steven said the forks president trump also alerts the court that he will be filming -- or filing a timely motion to sever his case from that of co-defendant chesbro who has filed a demand for a speedy trial or any other co-defendant who files such a demand. i mean, this trial process is going to be complicated with 18 co-defendants and they're all going to have different dates. >> 18 co-defendants also means 18 potentially different defenses and 18 people who are saying, you can't hear what the other 17 potential defendants are saying about the case in furtherance of the conspiracy. let's not forget in a criminal conspiracy or criminal rico case, a jury cannot hear the statements of co-conspirators, it's not allowed. so conceivably there would have to be 18 different jury panels sitting to listen to the same operative facts. the motion to sever is something that we have predicted and can
8:06 pm
imagine is ripe in this case. however, the motion to sever may also be important for trump. but not only him but the other defendants who may want to assert their right to a speedy trial which is a constitutional right held by the defendant. and also wavable only by the defendant. >> trace: kind of brings my next point up with nicole, you look at all this in totality, nicole and i know you have brought a bunch of different cases, this one is a beast. >> it is, this is a rico case, this is large and they did that on purpose. there are multiple defies and to imagine 19 defendants in one courtroom at once with all of their attorneys, you know, it's almost like a circus. it will not happen. for them to say that everyone's going to go to trial in october because of one defendant i think it's clear that maybe one defendant might sever off but even a march trial i think is very aggressive. i mean it takes time, there's voluminous amounts of discovery, multiple motions filed, appeals, people trying to move their cases from the state or local system to the federal system.
8:07 pm
this is a huge undertaking and i think it's important to know that there is a da, right now the da is involved in a rico case with young thug, and that case, the jury selection began in january of this year. they still do not have a jury selected. that is a rico racketeering case. you know, jury selection is going to be very lengthy in a case like this for president trump and his co-defendants. so we need to take all of those factors into consideration. this is not going to be a fast moving process. >> trace: yay, and, you know, point out this is also in the heat of the primary season so it complicates it even more. nicole parker, vik bajaj thank you both. >> thank you trace. >> trace: fox digital is breaking news that could show president biden was more involved in his son's business dealings than he claims. senior national correspondent kevin corke is live in dc with what records are now revealing. kevin good evening. >> reporter: evening trace. hunter biden traveled to at least 13 countries with his then vice-president father joe biden,

officials responded to the robberies by setting up what they call the organized retail crime task force including police officers from la, glendale, beverly hills, burbank, the california highway patrol and representatives from the la county's district attorney's office. they are investigating nine separate cases of flash mob style robberies, and the new arrests are related to four of those. the bad news for stores and customers is that the robberies continue and with dozens involved, 11 arrests may mark a start but also means that many more of these robbers are still on the loose and presumably, trace, planning their next targets for flash mobry. >> trace: indeed they are, jonathan thank you, bring in karl demaio and chef andrew gruel. gentlemen thank you pavement i want to put this up on the screen because this is the retail industry leaders association, he says quoting here as it relates to crime and organized retail crime california is truly in a league
