we can only think of their families at this moment here at home. we talk about the different countries. we are about australia, u.s., japan, the philippines facing beijing but you've got other nations in this mix. malaysia, what does that mean when all of these nations are potentially facing and aggressive china and potentially as has been predicted at some point, possible invasion of taiwan. >> certainly part is forcing them to make some difficult choices. because most of the countries in the region they are major training trading partner is china. we just saw our american president he was south korea and japan. and forming mutual relationship to secure the three countries together. japan and south korea is beijing's major trading party you know the answer it is china.
9:18 am
that adds complexity to this relationship. but the countries in the region and the united states served too administrations now and recognize we cannot sit on our hands as china continues this aggression. we have got to take a holistic approach to it. so we have to push back economically, technologically, militarily and diplomatically military and diplomatically and use that comprehensive approach in trying to contain and china says we are trying to contain even though the administration does not use that word but let's face it. china is stating they want to dominate and control the region. that is someone we want to contain their objectives in doing that. it's not just about the military it's as other instruments of national power we have to use as well. that certainly is one of the reasons white secretary of commerce were mondo is heading to china to deal with that very issue. to find a balance between having

9:20 am
we've got to stop letting them get away with this fiction that somehow it's the united states that's the aggressor here. they use all of those tools i just mentioned that we should use to accomplish that part military deterrence is important is job one that has eroded, with the put capacity back and that e with tapping and illustrates a step in the right direction but much more needs to be down with u.s. capability. the second thing is what we're doing economically. we have got to stop the civil military fusion that is taking place with businesses that operate in china, foreign businesses as well as what our investment is contributing to chinese businesses. whatever commercial technology is adaptable to military use they transfer it. we got to get tougher and tougher enduring that it's obvious we are enhancing china's military dominance with our technology and our money.
