6:01 am
trial will begin. special counsel smith wants january 2nd. less than six weeks before the iowa caucuses. trump questioned april 20, 2026. in georgia willis is focusing on mark meadows and his push to have the charges moved to federal court so he can assert immunity. but first. >> victor shokin says you accepted bribes. is that true? are you okay with your son accepting millions of dollars from russia, china and ukraine? >> dana: president biden ignored the questions. a new series of explosive allegations could be harder to deflect. i'm dana perino. bill is off today and i have a fun partner today. good morning to you. >> great to kick off the week with you. i'm sandra smith and this is "america's newsroom." victor shokin is putting president biden and his son on
6:02 am
blast. he says they accepted bribes and he was fired for investigating burisma, the ukrainian gas company where hunter was a board member. >> i do not want to deal in unproven facts. but my own personal conviction is that yes, this was the case. they were being bribed. the fact that joe biden gave away $1 billion in u.s. money in exchange for my dismissal, my firing, isn't that alone a case of corruption? >> dana: more to come on this interview. let's go to florida where governor ron desantis is having a press conference talking about preparations for hurricane idalia. >> this is going to be a major impact and floridians should expect that this storm will be a major cat three plus hurricane. so please prepare accordingly. the national hurricane center
6:03 am
currently has hurricane watches in effect for the gulf coast from sarasota county all the way up to franklin county in northwestern florida. and this track, if you look at how the models are, there is a general agreement on the track that it is going to take. there is a lot of agreement that it is going to be somewhere between north of tampa and tallahassee. but anything that wobbles with this storm could change that. so pretty much anybody on the west coast of florida, you can see major, major impacts. so please prepare accordingly. we did submit a pre-landfall declaration to the federal government last night and we anticipate that will be approved. i have expanded our state of emergency, the executive order, to include 13 additional counties. so that will be 46 that are under a state of emergency. of course, on the gulf course but also as you look at the track of that storm, you areing
6:04 am
to see northern florida, north central florida and northeastern florida counties affected as well. all of those counties are under a state of emergency. our state eoc is operating at a level 124-hour operations, it is what we do. all counties in the path of -- please request aid from the state as soon as possible. there is a relatively limited window here. if you request aid, kevin and his team are going to get it to you. but if you wait until 6, 8 hours before the storm hits it will be much more difficult to make that happen. so tell us what your needs are. submit those requests, and kevin and his team will work to fill the requests as expeditiously as possible. evacuation orders. i urge floridians to heed the admonitions and heed the
6:05 am
directives from your local officials. there are going to be evacuation orders issued in all these gulf coast counties in the a and b zones. all the barrier islands, places that are low lying on the coast, you are going to be told to evacuate. so just understand that. that will be true probably from pinellas and manatee all the way up through the big bend. keep in mind, if you are told to evacuate, you do not need to drive hundreds of miles. you don't need to leave the state of florida. you basically need to go to higher ground. almost every instance you can go tens of miles to a shelter, to a hotel, to a friend's house, whatever works for you. and you will be able to ride out the storm. the key is not be in the areas that will be hit with big time storm surge and potentially have life-threatening situations. and so tens of miles, not
6:06 am
necessarily need hundreds of miles. and the more people that do a more limited evacuation, the more local evacuation, you won't have the highways and roads clogged. it is not necessary to try to outrun the storm. just get to higher ground and in a structure that can handle the hurricane, ride it out and you'll be able to go back to your property and inspect whatever damages. so more local evacuations. you do not need to flee to alabama or georgia or drive hundreds and hundreds of miles. fuel, we have 35 bob tails and 15 tankers of fuels en route to central florida to pre-stage with a couple hundred thousand gallons of fuel. we had limited fuel interruptions with hurricane ian, but you never know how it works so we want fuel to be able to get it back on target as soon as the storm passes. we have seven urban search and
6:07 am
rescue teams ready to deploy to impacted areas. of course, we have florida highway patrol, florida department of law enforcement, florida fish and wildlife, all those folks will be ready to go as soon as the storm passes, they will go on the ground helping out floridians. we have 2500 guardsmen and airmen pre-staged. 3,000 more are currently being mobilized and on the way for a total of 5500 and have at their disposal 2500 high wheel vehicles and aircraft. kevin is asking from other states and we anticipate those requests will be fulfilled. schools, hearn and owe county schools are closed today and citrus and leavey tomorrow. more counties to come in terms of school closures. parents, just understand that's coming down the pike. that, of course, is a local decision that will be made on a district by district basis.
6:08 am
i think people should anticipate school closures along the gulf coast of florida for both tuesday and wednesday and perhaps even beyond that. power, there are tens of thousands of linemen that will be staged and resources will be staged. >> dana: you've been listening to governor ron desantis suspending some campaign events so he can focus, as he needs to, as a governor on that hurricane that is headed toward florida. we'll monitor the press conference for additional news and check with local officials and sources if you wonder about anything. schools might get closed. worried a little bit about power. they had suggestions what you should do to get prepared. we'll bring you more of that. want to get you back to the story we started with. the former top ukrainian prosecutor who got fired came ott swinging against the bidens, hunter and joe biden. that was in an interview with
6:09 am
brian kilmeade on saturday night. alexandria hoff is standing by. this racket netted the bidens more than $17 million. is that right? >> there were a lot of accusations that were thrown out as part of this interview from the former top prosecutor in ukraine. what's interesting is for all of the drama that has taken place for the past couple years when it comes to president biden, then vice president at the time and victor shokin, what stood out to me is how shokin seemed to be during the obama administration. the state department praised his efforts to combat corruptions in ukraine. by 2015 biden made it clear it was shokin who was corrupt and must be removed from his position. by march of 2016, shokin was fired as ukraine's top prosecutor one year after being appointed. that came after vice president biden threatened to withhold a billion dollars in aid from
6:10 am
ukraine. he discussed this very transaction back in 2018. watch this. >> i had gotten a commitment from poroshenko that they would take action against the state prosecutor and they didn't. they said they were walking out and i said we're not going to give you the billion dollars. they said you are not the president. the president -- i said call him. >> ukraine did get the billion dollars because shokin was ousted. he said he was fired for overseeing an investigation into burisma. where hunter biden served on its board. >> i was performing my job. i developed a very understanding of the fact that the vice president was only acting in his own interests. he generally speaking handled ukraine like it was his own
6:11 am
backyard. >> the interview he did not provide evidence of his claim that the biden family accepted bribes. the white house called shokin a former ukrainian prosecutor general whose office, his own deputy called a hot bed of corruption. drawing demands for reform by vice president biden and u.s. diplomats, international partners and added shokin's office was not investigating burisma when he was fired and shokin said he was. there was a board member being the vice president's son. >> dana: thank you so much. let's bring in nancy mace, republican from south carolina. great to have you, madam congresswoman. let me play for you sound from speaker mccarthy on with maria yesterday morning. >> republicans took the majority have we found out what president biden told us when he was running for office is not true.
6:12 am
he said he never had any dealings with his son's business. that he never even talked to him. we have now found out not only did he call into the meetings he went to dinner. we also have a d.o.j. that gave -- tried to give a sweetheart deal to hunter biden. a natural step forward you have to go to an impeachment inquiry. >> dana: congresswoman, the white house basically said a natural step forward based on what saying kevin mccarthy is threatening to impeach biden for not turning over documents they've never requested and calling it a crazy exercise rooted not in facts and truth but in partisan shamelessness. how do you respond to that? >> well, i have a message for joe biden this morning. we're coming for you. if you will not answer the questions for the american people, the oversight committee will answer them for you with regards to the investigation we'll be conducting. it is time for joe biden to start telling the american people the truth. why wasn't the white house on
6:13 am
any of the sunday shows yesterday? why won't they answer the questions and joe biden avoid the questions? when he answers them he lies to the american people. the american people just deserve the truth and nothing but the truth. >> dana: did anything shokin say to brian kilmeade surprise you, add anything to the story? >> well, certainly having his testimony or his speaking to brian kilmeade on fox news, sharing that information, very important. i want to talk to shokin next. i would like to see evidence he has aside from joe biden saying in a microphone several years ago bragging about firing shokin. i would like to see if he does have any evidence of this because every time joe biden has answered the question he has lied about it. because the oversight committee is not allowed to show the suspicious activity reports from the treasury because they are confidential we have to go after bank records. i would like to know what banks we need to be talking to and what banks do we need to request financial records from to show
6:14 am
the american people what's been going on. >> dana: i always remember last february or so it was that you and a couple of others went to the treasury department and got to see documents and fair to say you were shocked. is that what you were trying to say? you aren't allowed to show it to us but you're saying if you go to the bank records and able to get those, we would get the same information that you were able to see? >> correct. correct. i would say that. the shock and awe comes from the amount of money laundering that we are talking about is staggering. i have said this a couple of times. the amount of money the bidens benefited from will be over $50 million. 17 million from ukraine alone. much higher than that when we talk about romania, china, russia. just one report in one of the sars reports, there were 170 plus, was tends of millions of dollars and then some. a staggering amount of money we're talking about between the

biden family and business associates and corrupt countries. it is insur mountable in my opinion and im disgusted the mainstream media has not investigated it. >> dana: they are very incurious. great to have you, congresswoman nancy mace. >> thank you, dana. >> sandra:, protestors. police trying to keep the crowd under control. it ended up arresting several people in the meantime. all of this as new york's democrat governor comes under increasing fire for her handling of this chaos. alexis mcadams live in new york city on this. where do things stand this morning? >> hi. people here in the city aren't happy about this migrant surge. they feel like there is not enough resources and migrants are on every street corner across manhattan. not too long ago we saw lines of migrants outside of what used to be an iconic hotel the roosevelt

after the counter offensive is likely over and the weather changes. they are operating without air power. russia has the air power. ukraine doesn't have any of it. then we criticize them for their tactics. that's why i took exception. if the criticism was valid and they were suggesting it better was one thing. it is invalid. we have never, ever conducted an attack against a comprehensive defense and not attacked on multiple axis because we want to pin down the ability of the opposition to maximize their capability against one axis. doesn't that make sense? it goes all the way back to what we did in world war ii. the people who are criticizing it have never done anything quite like this. the ukrainians have 18 months of experience. i say give the ukrainians all that they need, dana. and get out of their way and let them get the job done. >> dana: let them do what they need to do. thank you for being on the show this morning. >> great talking to you.

defense wants more time to review the evidence provided by the prosecutors asking for a start date in 2026. plus trump has three other trials looking for space on his calendar. >> these trial dates are going to move. it is unrealistic, it's the attics and no judge is going to say that you can be on two trials at once in two different states. a lot of these overlap. they look at the start date of the trial but these are 4 to 6 week trials at the least. so there is no way they aren't going to overlap. they will have to go into october, november of next year. again, by design. >> dana: a court hearing about to get underway in georgia. lots of focus on this because former white house chief of staff mark meadows and fulton county district attorney will lay out her case against trump and 18 other co-defendants. david spunt is live outside the federal court in washington. >> good morning to you both. a bu
