lot of people in the community didn't know about it. the school never told us they decided to start letting biological males use the girls facilities. never sent a newsletter or anything out. in fact, they kept it from us. that was one of the biggest reasons parents were in an uproar, they didn't inform us they were going to start allowing these things to happen. you know, it is awful. >> you know what would make everything easier, if the transgender student would just go use the boys room that he has been using his entire life. how about that? >> yeah. that would be the common sense, the logic, reasonable thing to do. we're not even asking for that. we're just saying hey, if you're not comfortable using the bathroom of your biological sex, use the single use bathroom stall. that's all we're asking for. >> the transgender kid could use the single use one. case closed. no one gets sued, everyone protected and not bullied. i think we figured it out.

if you want to get to the truth, you go to the source. our next guest voyaged to new guinea, discovered the truth behind michael rockefeller, what he learned speaking to those people are riveting. carl hoffman joins us now. what did you find when you spoke to the tribe? >> hi, how are you. well, i spent years first having a researcher in the netherlands because it was a dutch colony at the time going deep into archives of the catholic church and colonial government, huge amount of documents from the navy, the church, missionaries on the ground at the time who did investigations and wrote reports and all those reports were sent to their superiors and they were largely hidden from the rockefeller family themselves. and then once i had all those documents i spent

months over two different trips going deep into asmat, eventually learning to speak and living in the village that had according to documents that had killed him and i lived with the sons of the men named in reports as having killed him. >> did they tell you about a white man that swam ashore, met an untimely death? >> yeah. it is very complicated actually, a hugely complex story, but mike, in 1957, there was overly zealous, fearful dutch colonial patrol officer who had gone into the villages, two different villages being powerful villages, and he had wanted to teach them, quote, unquote, the power of the dutch government, and he opened fire and killed in the village five men and those

men ultimately were not just any old people, they were as it turned out, they were the most important men in the village. and the men named in the reports as having killed michael were their direct descendants. they had taken their place politically as the most important people in the village and they according to asmat cosmology and culture carried obligation to reciprocate, kill somebody from the tribes that killed their people, and michael rockefeller unfortunately swam up to a group of men on the morning of november 21st, 1961, and he was dispatched. >> well, i understand wanting to avenge deaths of the tribal leaders but very, very saddening to the life of michael rockefeller. and you are quite a man to go there in that village and learn that language
