comment as two of america's top adversaries look to strengthen ties. >> >> jacqui heinrich has the latest for us. >> yeah of the white house declassified intelligence to get this information out there revealing that there are some high level talks about military cooperation between these two countries steadily advancing. but the president did not say anything further about it yesterday. listen. >> good afternoon, mr. president. what do you think about kim jong un going to russia, sir? u.s. officials say kim jong un plans to travel to russia this month to talk with putin about supplying wednesday for russia's war in ukraine including artillery shells and anti-tank missiles after the two exchanged letters including a possible arms deal. it is not the first time the u.s. has revealed classified information in order to dissuade countries like north korea and in the past china from supplying weapons to putin. chinese president xi jinping also recently communicated with

the north korean leader via a letter according to north korean state media. but president biden will not be talking about any of that with chinese president xi when he heads to the g-20 in india this week. >> president xi is not going to the g-20. how do you explain that? >> i am disappointed but i'm going to get to see him. >> it's unclear if the president means he will meet with xi in vietnam following the g-20 or if there might be something else in the works. but u.s. officials are increasingly worried about chinese spies sometimes posing as tourists accessing military bases and other sensitive sites. as many as 100 times in recent years according to the "wall street journal." china says the relevant claims are purely ill intentioned fabrications we urge u.s. officials to abandon the cold war mentality stop groundless accusations and do more things that enhance mutual trust between the two countries. the incidents are concerning enough that congress might try to do something about all of

this when recess is over. according to members of the intelligence committee, many of these cases go unaddressed because the violations are state and local, not federal. of course though, everything for this week may not go as planned after the first lady jill biden revealed yesterday that she has come down with covid, although the president has so far tested negative. they were last together over the weekend, guys. >> steve: that's right. that could mess up everything because i know that the president is supposed to head out, what, tomorrow or thursday the advance people are already there. so, as a backup because they can't reschedule, jacqui, the entire g-20. could they possibly send kamala harris to that? >> well, if there has been any sort of back-up plans in the works, we don't know about it. of course, this came out of nowhere. nowhere had any inclination that the first lady was under the weather until we got that letter from her office yesterday. karine jean-pierre said the president is going to undergo a

regular cadence of test being this week. we don't know what regular is. it could be twice a day. it could be every other day. we will see. so the next few days are certainly a question mark here. >> ainsley: how is she feeling? any word on that? >> they said she is doing well. she is in rehoboth. decided to isolate there. obviously to contain the virus to their beach house. but, other than that, we don't have many updates since the announcement yesterday. >> steve: all right. thank you, jacqui. it is curious though as jacqui just reported that president biden's knows that president xi of china is not going to be at the g-20 and he said i'm disappointed but i'm still going to get to see him. what's he talking about. >> ainsley: soon. >> steve: as jacqui mentioned and maybe it's not on the schedule at this point but maybe our president will meet with mr? maybe that's something they are trying to work up. it's not like they are going to have another stop. but maybe mr. xi would wind up

in vietnam. who knows by the end of the week. as she just said, the whole plan could go up in smoke because of covid. >> griff: should this meeting happen and president biden is able to meet with xi, what is their possible dialogue about the north korean dictator going to see vladimir putin? what would they say? >> ainsley: apparently when he does go, they are discussing inaugural joins naval exercises. i mean, that's pretty scary. >> the white house has expressed their concern, hopefully congress will step. in we have to do something about that if they are going to be meeting and discussing joint naval exercises. kamala harris is supposed to go to indonesia this week for this international summit. but she might be pulled out of that to go to the g-20 if our president can't go. hopefully he won't get covid. >> steve: the scariest part is where jacqui started where north korea is going to meet with putin hey, okay, putin, you need our artillery shells and you

need some of our weapons to fight your war in ukraine. we need something to eat. and so it looks like -- it looks like that essentially is the deal, that they have got going on. and to the point about president xi, president xi and china, you know, they are they tell north korea what to do and they do it. the good news is china is not providing arms it russia at this point. but you have got to figure they are providing them to north korea. so it's a back door way of getting chinese stuff into the war in ukraine. >> griff: overshadowing all of this is what likely going to be a topic of major discussion at our next presidential debate on fox business, and that is potential conflict with russia with china, vivek ramaswamy weighed in on that. here's what he had to say. >> we have been coddled into 22 consecutive years of peace that the homeland itself has not been

threatened. we need to wake up and sober up to the reality. >> this is a dangerous moment where we are not ready for that type of conflict. and so i think the right answer is to say that, you know what? you don't mess with the united states on our homeland. >> that's what we're going to stand for. you don't miss with our treaty allies. but, beyond that, we're going to advance american interest. shoring up our own economic fortitude. shoring up homeland and defense systems. ending the ukraine war on terms that yes would allow ukraine to have sovereignty intact might be better than the tract it's going on otherwise but more importantly causes the russia, china alliance to weaken if not all together dissolve. >> steve: it's all about the super powers and what's left of them. speaking of russia, were you guys watching the u.s. open over the weekend? >> ainsley: too much of it. i couldn't sleep. yesterday's tournament lasted four hours and 45 minutes. last night. >> steve: how many really good russian players are actually playing? they are playing.

we are allowing the russians and people from belarus to play in the u.s. open just as they did at wimbledon. piers morgan and i had a conversation about i can't believe you guys are letting the players from russia? we're at war, essentially with russia. and right now in flashing meadow they are doing -- they are great players. >> ainsley: there is an article this morning here in new york city we are spending 35 million. we are giving 35 million nonprofits to house them some of them from russia. one lady says she is from russia. >> steve: at the u.s. open? >> ainsley: we are paying for them to live here for free. we didn't want to fight against our own because we consider ukrainians the same people as russians. my husband and i have high blood sugar. she is complaining about the food serve in the shelter. food isn't good for us and kids don't want to see it. we see a giant pile of wasted food. 90% of the food here isn't eaten. >> griff: i watched that guy the russian tennis player, he might win the whole thing. is he on fire.

cartel are in brutal war, citizens and everybody else getting caught in the crossfire that is part of the problem in the administration don't want to talk about it public schools this week schools caught in the crossfire because i read this morning of the 90,000 migrants 100,000 migrants arrived in the last year or so, 20,000 have been children a lot of them are going to start school. here's the thing. we got rules here in new york city where if you, in new york city, if you are going to go to school, you have got to the present the fact that you have been vaccinated against all those childhood diseases including covid. none of them have that. none of them have the documentation, but, you know what? because this is a special deal they get to come in. the parents got sign a thing yeah, i know i have got to have

the shots in 30 days. how many of the parents are actually going to get the shots in 30 days? and is the school going to say okay, you got take your child out never going to happen. >> double stashed and that's what the parents are so up in arms about here in new york. they are saying our kids have to go in school with the vaccine. some of these moms and dads don't want to go through with that they don't want to give their kid a vaccine. can you still get covid if you have the vaccine or not. they look at the migrant kids and go 30 days without it. you are right after 30 days are they really going to check? >> no. we are talking about all the vaccines, mmr. all those things that our kids all got. we all got when we went into school they don't have to get. >> griff: officials here in new york city continue to fund. 35 million the latest figure for migrant shelters. there is this push for work permits school access, this is how the border crisis works. if you give incentive pulls them. getting pushed out of don't have

dangerous, that is is nuts. it's about controls having full control. >> hand it over to carley she has more headlines for us. >> i do. just a tragic story here. a university of wisconsin madison student is fighting for her life after being attacked over the weekend. she was found severely beaten in a downtown street early sunday morning and taken to a nearby hospital. she remains in critical condition. police say they have increased patrols as they continue searching for whoever is responsible for this. former president trump lashing out against calls to use the 14th amendment to disqualify him from the 2024 presidential ballot. the legal maneuver is being posed by some democrats think argue trump broke his oath to the constitution after the 2020 election. thereby disqualifying him from pursuing future office trump writing, quote: almost all legal scholars have voiced that

schools they have stopped the kids from bringing the phones to school in all grade schools. and now the parent association has initiated a voluntary ban where all the parents agree and everybody in the whole town agreed our kids will not bring cell phones, smart phones to school before secondary school which is like middle school. so 12 years old. >> ainsley: it all start wanted with the schools saying you can't brings electronic devices into a learning environment and then the parents association went further and they initiated the voluntary ban amongst themselves. most of the parents agreed to it. this is in county wick low in greystones like you said close to dublin. they all just came together and they said we think it's a great idea if we all come together and we all have the same rule. >> i had both of my daughters were teenagers going through covid eleven of covid phones ae

for adolescents like 12 and 13 grmive parents you are not in control the phone it is in control negative influences. here's the thing, you can't take it away because every other parent has given their kid one, so then your child is ostracized adding to the problem so the fact that this town all got together and said okay the only way this works is if we all do it. >> i'm going to ban it in our entire county or our entire state, would that go over well? >> steve: kids can't vote. >> ainsley: parents would love it. >> steve: kathy and i were talking about getting just a cell phone back then for peter. okay, it's a personal safety issue because if he needs a ride to a game or something like that

>> ainsley: the surviving son of convicted killer alex murdaugh insisting the person who killed his mom and brother is still out there on the loose. it comes at his dad's attorneys are planning to seek a new trial based on discovered evidence which they are expected to reveal in a press conference today. fox nation host nancy grace has been covering this case from the very beginning and she joins us now. good morning to you, nancy. >> good morning. i just want to point out that this demand for a new trial based on newly discovered evidence is very simply another tool in the arsenal of the defense. first they try a motion for summary judgment. then they a directed verdict. the next thing they do, this is sop, standard operating procedure is demand a new trial. now, you don't always see a motion for new trial based on enoughly discovered evidence. why? because when they say newly discovered evidence is required, they mean it. it cannot be something that was

discoverable at the time of trial. >> so i'm waiting to see what newly discovered evidence they are talking about. >> ainsley: do we know anything about the press conference whether a time it's going to be today? >> yes. it's at 2:30 eastern. and it's being held there at the stated capital grounds. i'm curious if they found a new witness that was there, for instance, or saw the real killer, kind of sounds like o.j. or there was juror misconduct that we don't know about, why not take it immediately to authorities? why have a dog and pony show in front of the courthouse? there at the appeals courthouse? but, you know, that's okay. and do you know what? if there is any newly disorvelg evidence, for instance a witness that saw something that night or saw another perp or there has been a discussion by one someone there should be a new trial because i want it to be a fair trial that murdaugh goes to

trial for life do i think there is newly discovered evidence? no. >> ainsley: he lost his mom and brother and dad behind bars. he was convicted and his dad behind bars the rest of his life unless the appeal works or there is a new trial. this is what he said in the house of murdaugh special on fox nation, listen. >> didn't find a murder weapon. they didn't find any bloody clothing. there were no witnesses. why would the jurors be inclined to go against your dad? >> because of everything they had the ability to read prior to the trial. i think that people get overwhelmed and i think they believe everything that they read and i think it took advantage of a jury pool in a very small town in a very small county. >> nancy, in your experience, what happens your reaction to that? the children, the only surviving child that's not -- the dad is in prison. what's your opinion about that? do they usually side with the parent no matter what? >> number one, well what you just played is total b.s.

>> griff: activists are teaming up to protect minors in california and it's getting bipartisan support. protect kids, california filed three statewide ballot initiatives to protect children from reproductive harm. that act would ban sex change surgeries and pursuant blockers for children. the school transparency and partnership act which would require school officials to tell a parent if their child wants to be addressed as a different gender. finally the protect girls sports and spaces act which would ban biological males from competing in female sports. joining us now, the co-founders of protect kids california jonathan zacerson and republican eric friday a democrat. start with you, why did you get together to do this bipartisan move to get on the ballot? >> yeah, so the reason why we

got together it's important these issues are impacting california. california is one of the worst of the worst states as it comes to some of these procedures. we have legislators that are completely out of touch with the average democrat voter and production voter in california where these would have -- you win on the ballot two to one in some cases three to one it's important that we got together that voters had a chance in california with an opportunity to take them to the people of california we have been hearing a lot from republicans about this but you are a democrat and you are pushing to make it a bipartisan effort why are democrats on board? >> well, because this issue is effecting democratic families and republican families parents are losing their rights my child was secretly transitioned by her public school so i know

personally how important it is for parents to be involved in their children's decisions. this is not a partisan issue. >> griff: personal insight. are you finding there is a bit of a silent majority among democrats that feel the way you feel about this? >> absolutely. i run a parent group and about 80% of these parents are democrats. the party is just not listening to us. they want to frame this in a right vs. left and this is about child safeguarding. it has nothing to do with party affiliation whatsoever. >> griff: jonathan, so, what is the likelihood? what do you think the chances are that you're gonna succeed in this because, obviously, the progressive politicians starting with the governor on down are not going to agree with erin, are not going to support these initiatives and you are going to

unfortunately on this tuesday, september 5th. it sounds like a lot of people all across the country are behind on their payments. so what do they do? >> yeah. they are, steve. people are feeling this pinch, so the key is to make your income go as far as possible, which means you want to be intentional with it. you want to could a budget. you want to look at your month's income minus all of your expenses including giving and saving and you want that to equal zero. you want every dollar going to a category. you also want to find margin the problem is a lot of people are not getting to zero they are in the negative. that means you are either going to have to cut expenses or up your income or both. it's really hard and frustrating, steve. again, i want people on that solid, financial foundation as soon as possible. >> steve: rachel, you know how millennials are. i got kids. i know this is true. they don't have the wisdom that joe biden and i have. and that is they buy now, you know, they think i'm going to buy now, i'm going to pay later. it's okay. i will make more money later.

i can get that new shiny thing i want. >> i know. these buy now, pay later programs have been up 40% in the first two months of this year. they kind of market it as a budgeting tool like you want this new pair of jeans, they are $100 just pay $25 now. there is something psychologic about that, steve, when you see $25 oh, yeah, i will do that vs. 100. listen that, is a form of debt. you still have payments month to month if you can't afford the item. you can't buy it. just say no. >> steve: just say no. you also suggest stop -- pause investing for now. shop around for better insurance and change your tax withholding so you go to your employer and you do that, right? >> that's right. yeah. if you need to find some income, pause investing. we will come back to that once you are out of debt. if have you got a big tax with refund. withholdings shop insurance rates. people pay insurance quarterly or yearly and you haven't shopped rates in years.
