arthel: deadliest earthquake to strike the country and over a century for the death toll from the magnitude 6.8 quake now stands at over 2100 people. that number is unfortunately expected to rise to brute rescue efforts hindered today as aftershock of tremors rattled the area but welcome to brand our "fox news live" i am arthel neville hi eric. so far hello everyone thank you for joining us i'm eric shawn.

the rescue teams are struggling to try to reach those who are still trapped in some of the most remote areas in morocco. some roads leading to the mountain towns are completely blocked by the rubble. search teams are desperate to find any signs of life among the destruction but officials not putting out an urgent call for blood donations they are both the citizens and tourists are showing solidarity lining up by the thousands to help the earthquake victims. they say any single day 6000 bags of blood collected. trey yingst is alive with the very latest on the rescue operations there on the ground. thanks eric, good afternoon print rescue efforts to continue at this hour as the death toll rises in southern morocco. people here do fear aftershocks many are sleeping in the streets. they are afraid to stay in their homes. we saw that seen today at that market the main medina here in the historic city of marrakesh.

marrakesh and really understand the true extent of the death and damage caused by the massive earthquake on friday evening. president biden today making a statement saying all american citizens currently in morocco are safe. also adding that the united states is prepared to provide any aid necessary to the moroccan people. similar statements from other countries like qatar and spain you hear the call to prayer as the city is hoping for better days ahead. eric: trade, since you are there have you felt the aftershocks? what is the sense of some of the people they must be so desperate, horrifying and heartbreaking to know some are still buried under the rubble. >> absolutely print one aftershock today it is something that people are very fearful of it. we spoke with the number of civilians in the medina today who said the they are going to y outside.

it was almost apocalyptic when he walked to the historic streets of this city that people come from all over the world to visit. there were civilians walking out of their homes they were still bleeding. one man had a big gash in his head. there were women and children waiting next to the street being guarded by police officers to make sure they were safe and away from the rubble. that is the seam here in morocco's fifth largest city or resources are able to easily flow here. there are villages just south of marrakesh in the atlas a mountain range that rescue workers cannot get to yet. the authorities in morocco fear there'll be many more bodies recovered from these towns and villages. they fear the aid simply won't get there in time. and the rescue workers traveling here are going to have trouble getting to those locations. eric: trey yingst live in an eight just after 10:00 p.m. in the evening there, thank you.

more recently mitch mcconnell has been in the news and nancy pelosi announced she is running for reelection she is 83 the former speaker. it really does -- voters are going to be looking at this putting a highlight and a spotlight on how agent plays a role in the mental acuity of our leaders. eric: you could be a spry 80 years old on top of everything. but at the same time people are at different ages why does this concern you so much about president biden? >> it concerns me because he is running for reelection. this is not an easy job. to be president of the united states it is a robust schedule. it requires to be on all cylinders all the time. i think when the american people are looking at is he up to the task? while that pu p pole made said o me i'll be questioning that.

we need to present strength on the world stage especially as we look at what china is doing. and adversaries look at us as a target. we want to present from a position of strength. i do not think it president biden is presenting is leadership on the world stage. with plenty of issues here and domestically that peter touched on it. we need leadership here. it requires having a handle on the issues and being able to go and do these things for the schedule requires you to be pretty active. we need a president who is able to do so. eric: you have advised republican candidates and officials in the past. >> absolutely. i will point out again with nancy pelosi running for reelection a in august the president biden running for reelection, that is their choice to do so. jon weiner ticked the box he wanted to take and he bowed out gracefully and set up paul ryan to be successful for his

is 47 think he is too old to run. more things that mentally up to the job. 36% for biden, 46% for trout. before we put everybody out to pasture what do you think should happen? how do you handle the age issue? >> there are a lot of similarities and parallels between president trump and president biden. age is certainly one of them. i will say neither candidate has been robust on the campaign trail. whereas many in the gop field have been. wwithout recently in a poll that came out it showed nikki haley ain a head to head it match up d topple president biden. set with pens, chris christie, tim scott. this poll showed that there are other candidates that we in the gop have that we really should be focusing on. i do think again age is a factor. also being able to handle the robust schedule. having a handle on the issues.

and i appreciate you having me on during this time. eric: of course the fire had brotherhood and sisterhood is so powerful it is now 22 years later. we all remember that day weird in our memory. people around the country may not realize it has taken a toll today. what is that like? as we all know we battle these illnesses, it is taking a toll among the firefighters, police officers and citizens. >> when i think of other disasters i think about the things that happened at the world trade center were different. the late lingering effects in the cancer that took so long to show themselves the debilitating effects of having those diseases is almost hard to imagine. as people move further and further from the tragedy, i think they become further and further unaware of the lingering effects what is even more unfortunate as is me here aboute person passing we think about

the time has a past we eliminate the amount of time of suffering and treatments and successes and failures throughout the entire process and the toll it takes on the family, people's ability to enjoy what's left of their retirement or the monetary and personal impact it takes all your soul in your mind and your body. eric: what was it like for you and what was it like your father? >> i will say it my father was a fighter. unbelievably optimistic human who almost willed him self his level of success. he had very good results early on. he had access to some of the greatest care some of the greatest doctors and nurses through the world trade center monitoring and treatment program. fortunately we enjoyed that success release seven and a half years of an eight year battle. i will tell you the impact that

had allowed my father to live a full life. to enjoy his grandchildren. to see the birth of his only grandson and be able to enjoy some of his retirement and not constantly suffering with pain from either the cancer or the treatments. there is a very delicate balance between treatment for survival and actually living. eric: that is for sure i'm going to show some statistics on the screen right now because we have reached the point where according to the reports of more people have died from the illnesses that were killed on that one day per take a look the 911 death toll. 1004 and 69 for bear weight orders. 1366 people from cancer. total 2835. on that day 200753. we also live with it mentally. we live with it every time you see the world trade center. they have done an incredible job with the memorial.

an incredible job with the world trade center program, health program that monitors all of us. it is enough being done? has the government stepped up question f equipment fights in e past is there more that can be done? >> i will say there's always more that can be done. recently projected $600 million into the monitoring program which was a step in the right direction. but if anyone monitors the cost of healthcare or the cost of quality cancer treatment the cost is growing exponentially. we need more funding we need to keep the awareness in the forefront of people's consciousness. we need to make sure these people the first responders, volunteers, people who live below canal street students who were in the plume during the time of the attacks all have access to treatment. it is hard to figure perfectly able-bodied healthy firefighters who are still working today or one medical away from finding out they have a terminal if not life altering illness.

being able to at least take the burden of treatment or the financial cost associated with treatment off your plate so you can focus on the days you have left along with your r the recos probably the most important thing we can do for these people. we will never undo what occurred that day but we will never undo the exposure that we subjected our people too. but what we can do is continue to provide early detection. we can do is provide the treatment that was afforded to my father and helps these people will continue to live fruitful lives that will go as long as treatment and a lu luck and hopl carry them. eric: absolute love the absolutt continue i cannot say enough about the members of the emergency services here in new york is someone that first plane through over flew over my head be because of the effects of that day. it is so important and i thank
