their way to airports in boston, newark and washington, d.c. american airlines, united airlines, american airlines flight77 and flight 93 took off that morning just like any other day. at 8:46 in the morning, flight 11 crashed into the north tower in new york city sparking panic and confusion. all 92 people onboard are dead. president bush was told about the crash minutes later. he was reading to a class at a florida elementary school when he heard what happened. it was charactered an accident. >> todd: flight 75 hit the south tower and all 65 people onboard are killed and it is clear this is a coordinated attack on our home land. 9:37 a.m. flight 77 crashes into the pentagon, 64 people onboard

are killed. the faa grounds all flights and evacuees begin inside the white house and capitol hill. >> carley: 9:55 a.m., the south tower collapses and flight 93 crashes in pennsylvania after passengers onboard fight it is hijackers. all 44 people are killed in the crash. the intended target is believed to have been the capitol hill building. >> todd: the north tower falls and massive clowdof toxic smoke and dust fill the air, all of lower manhattan evacuated and president bush addressed the nation from the white house. our freedom was under attack and 22 years is a long time. when you recount the eventing like that, it seems like yesterday.
