l you need is a perfect, amazing team that will guide you through the right steps to be successful. and that's what bank of america was for me. >> harris: hello, everyone you're watching "outnumbered." i'm harris faulkner here with my co-host kaleigh mcenany. joining us culture plus. group co-founder. fox news contributor douglas murray. the media and left continue to claim that republicans want to ban books in schools. what they don't tell you is
9:01 am
what's actually inside some of those books. well, louisiana senator john kennedy went on a story read. he did that during a hearing yesterday on the so called book bans he read. he was reading aloud with two particular book. the excerpts that he read was so explicit, we had to bleep out most of them. that is the point. it didn't stop senator. >> the first one is called "all boys aren't blue." i will quote from it. i put [ bleep ] and got [ bleep ] and i began [ bleep ] and kissed while he was [ bleep ].
9:02 am
eventually, i felt a mix of pleasure with the pain. closed quote. the second is another much discussed book. it's called "genderqueer." >> harris: all right, all i can say about that is that if you can't say it on national television to mostly grown-ups watching in a school year, how are you going to play it for kids? emily? you're making the very point of just how outrageous it was. not that we could hear it in other places.
9:03 am
we can't play it here for adults. >> exactly. yet, the advocacy groups want your child less than five years old to have unfettered access to it or the senator's point that the librarian makes the determination what is and what not acceptable. senator kennedy made the best point at the end as the guests were squirming and not answering the question, he said you brought a problem into this chamber. you do not have a solution. i was struck by this sort of microjabs that they were saying. that's not about erotic. it's about an invasion. it's been an assault. these sort of explanations that have no place in the larger picture. which is what's the solution to the problem? there wasn't a problem, by the way, before you wanted to put those books in elementary schools without parental consent and involvement. pay attention to the headlines.
9:04 am
the headlines are talking about the salacious content about the senator reading such salacious content. the overwhelm point., the whole point, though that con point is in front of your children. >> harris: douglas, the origins of this conversation by the side putting these books in front of 5-year-olds or less. if you have to deny that something is erotic, that it's meant for a 5-year-old, you have to lost the argument. >> the left that's been pushing this book ban claim, so keen to say this big ban thing. they can connect to anyone who worry about what children read like nazis people that ban books. you look at the left wing media to what kennedy did, they are doing this what's this old senator reading out these dirty words? this is a very common tactic in
9:05 am
the gender wars. it's people like kennedy's critics who are talking about transitioning minors. it's not kennedy. it's kennedy's critics who are making up all of these bewildering claims about gender. it's not him. he's pointing to it. one other thing i got to say on this. he quoted from this book, "genderqueer." this stuff is completely confusing to minors and we have to start with the following base. gender identity is not in the eye of the child. identity isn't something in is fixed. identity is something children negotiate as they are growing up. when they are told they can change sex and all of this stuff that kennedy read out is okay, of course, they will be affected. they are children. >> we didn't play this portion but the person who which he was reading after he was done said,
9:06 am
those words are disturbing, especially coming out of your mouth. okay. they are disturbing coming out a senator's mouth. maintain it's more disturbing to those words are put in front of the ice -- eyes of a child. many of them depictions of sexual acts. in my home county, hillsborough county, two other books, were found in elementary schools. we're talking about 5, 6, 7 and 8-year-olds. this is number one done by design. they do this by design. we cannot on a mainstream television show play those words, which are stomach churning and grotesque. they can deny it's happening. we can't read you the words. number two, they frame this in the issue of lgbtq. in the case of the florida governor, they said it's don't say gay bill.
9:07 am
this has nothing to do with gay or straight. this has to do with sexuality, describing acts to children that should not be described to any child. i don't want my daughter knowing.these things, gay, straight or otherwise. any pollster in america take out the bleeps go poll america on the words, 99-1, they will be no. >> harris: i'm concerned about the early sexualization of our kids. i had a mom tell me yesterday that her child came home, they were very young. little boy gotten in trouble in class because a girl sent a nude picture of herself to him. everybody is in trouble in that scenario, i'm sure he shared it. the point of all of this is, why are even 5, 6, 8-year-olds at this point talking deeply about sexuality? this is not about gay, versus
9:08 am
straight. this is about something else. >> book were originally banned to protect children from explicit content. what concerns me even the most is that when gender priorities are taking the air time and more of the debate than us talking about math and science, when we will continue to fall behind. i was looking at numbers and we continue to be at the bottom list of the most industrialized nations in our achievement numbers. they keep eroding. where are we putting our priorities? what is this doing to our fabric of our culture and competitiveness and where we are putting the resources to really support kids. >> harris: again, we bleeped because some of adults have children at home with them. we wanted to do you the favor not having to listen to what he was saying. it was necessary to know about it. coming up, the white house is already trying to get into the
