went in and the dog. >> you know, what's really interesting is the obviously the resources that were made available to make the capture possible. you know, coordinated by and led by the pennsylvania state police, supported by federal and local law enforcement officers. but to see the entire team come together to protect our community was really fantastic. >> ainsley: the elite border patrol unit based in el paso very skilled in apprehension, they were involved in this as well, right. >> yes. i understand they came in and complemented the entire team that was there of the use of all of the resources, the heat seeking as well as k-9 really, i think gave also something for the community to rally around. that, you know, there is something there to really kind of sink our teeth into and go wow, not only can we celebrate the capture, but it was done with nobody being hurt both no civilians or law enforcement or first responders hurt at all. but then they also gave us --

rally around the k-9 officer that was involved in the takedown. just brought to a really great conclusion. >> ainsley: the k-9s are so important because the dog can be sent in. we knew he had a rifle. he had stolen a rifle from man's garage. >> that's right. >> ainsley: knew he was armed and dangerous because he had murdered his girlfriend. stabbed her so many times in front of her children, and i believe he was wanted for hurt down in brazil as well. so what was it like going through all the ups and downs where we thought we knew where he was and then he would evade police and then we thought we knew where he was and he would do it again. >> i think, you know that, is the part that really got people on edge. when we believed that he was in the two to three mile radius of the prison, as you drove in a area, there were state police and law enforcement and first responders in eyesight no matter where you went. that made people feel good and confident. when the word came down that he was able to steal a vehicle and

get out of that perimeter. that kind of, again, kind of made it that feeling that sense of nervousness and anxiety really rose again. so, i feel likes a we kind of went up and down and up and down, the community struggled, right? they struggled to understand why does it take so long and how could you have this many people here and not capture him? this was not an easy search. very densely wooded. many places to hide. many farms in the area. this was not an easy task to do and certainly give all the credit to the law enforcement officers that made it happen. >> ainsley: yeah. we talked to one man yesterday who says he lives 1.9 miles from the prison. bought his house and didn't realize they were that close to the prison. he said cavalcante was in his downstairs, broke into his house, and then three days later went to his neighbor's house. he said it's very scary his children and wife were terrified. when you buy a house, you don't think about that.

>> carley: we are back with some headlines, the idaho judge presiding over bryan kohberger's murder trial calling out the media for coverage of the case. kohberger was back in the courtroom yesterday after the defense and prosecution asked for cameras to be restricted in the courtroom. >> it can tilt -- it can tilt the case one way or the other. and we don't want that because that's not based on evidence. that's not based on the rules of the court. and it can get out of control. >> carley: some family members do want those cameras in the courtroom saying kohberger does not deserve privacy. the next hearing in the case is september for september 22nd. a federal judge once again rules the daca immigration program is illegal. the obama era policy shields immigrants who were brought to the united states as kids from deportation.

you know, from what i understand, you have method joe biden a number of times, think he was a real good senator, appreciate his service. but, as an independent voter, how do you feel about his age and capability to do the job? >> i think i agree with the poll. joe biden is actually moved beyond his time of service. one comment that was made in that particular article is it said they gave their best. they did their duty. they healed a broken land. i think over the last couple of years, we have had a lot of turbulence in this country. but one of the things that this nation needs to do is to allow the healing to begin and realize, you know, somebody who is stumbling, getting up the airplane and somebody who is got word salad, it's time for us to move on and start to look at other options. and while we do it, could i also say as a -- as the republicans continue to badger every single thing about him, i think that we as a nation need to learn to

important for the future of civilization. >> brian: i hope so. south dakota senator mike rounds led the closed door forum, he joins us now. you say you really like the way they engaged in each. >> they were really going at it. what came out of this prestigious meeting? >> look it, they were gentlemanly about it. it wasn't like they were screaming and hollering but they clearly this points of view. they wanted to talk with us directly about the concerns they had. number one, they want to make sure that if we're going to actually be trying to regulated more at the federal level that we put together the expertise to do it right. they suggested, you know, there is expertise at some of our universities, there sex per tease within the laboratories, the national labs. but they really wanted to make sure that we had the right expertise and that we not do this in a vacuum. this is reason why we tried to keep this bipartisan group together talking about ai. because this is going to have to be some sort of a long-term approach to making sure that we become and maintain our status

as the leader in the world with ai. it's not going away. in the wrong hands' a.i. can produce some really really bad things. >> brian: are you convinced we are leading a.i.? >> we are right now. and the reason is because people want to be here in the united states. but, they don't want to go to russia. they really don't want to go to china. but, russia and china are working very hard because they understand that on the battlefield, if you don't have a.i., you are going to lose. and so our message is we want the best and the brightest minds. it's kind of like did we want albert einstein in the united states or did we want him in germany in world war ii in the response is that we wanted him in -- can you imagine what would have happened if albert einstein wouldn't have been here? think about the manhattan project. same thing goes on right now when we talk about a.i. we want the best and brightest to come to the united states. >> brian: senator, it's not a hit on you, it would bed same thing if you asked me, i'm not ready to regulate a.i. i just don't know enough.
