's currently in his third term in office. we'll bring you the latest on the story as we get them. 13,000 workers walking off the job in a historic strike against the big three automakers. negotiations between the unions and the car makers have restarted, but the unprecedented act is also triggering fears of widespread economic damage. michigan congresswoman debbie dingell is standing by to weigh in on the walkout in her state and latest, the house impeachment inquiry into president biden. welcome to fox news live i'm griff jenkins, hello, molly. molly: i'm molly line. and we have the latest on the strike and let's go to lucas tomlinson where the president
9:02 am
is spending his weekend. >> before coming here to wilmington, president biden made a statement at the white house and the roosevelt room saying that he's with those uaw workers striking, not the auto bosses at the auto companies. >> auto companies have seen record profits, including the last few years because of the extraordinary skill and sacrifices the uaw workers. those record profits have not been shared fairly. >> president biden ignored a shouted question from a reporter asking if he would pardon his son. it's been a tough week for the president. first there was that awkward press conference in vietnam on sunday, and then biden falsely claim he went to ground zero the day after 9/11 and then house speaker mccarthy launched that impeachment inquiry and inflation started to rise, as viewers know who go to the grocery store or gas station, and david ignatius who normally
9:03 am
writes about this administration, says that biden should not run in 2024 and neither should kamala harris. and the first time in history, the president's son was indicted. and reacting to the gun charges. >> the u.s. attorney's office knew about it and no charges. and when they made a deal, a diverted agreement. what changed? not the facts, not the law, but the politics that have now come into play. >> hunter biden's expected to make his next court appearance here in wilmington in about a week. molly. molly: something to watch. the next thing to watch, lucas tomlinson, thank you. >> molly, we're watching the united auto workers and big three auto workers are headed back to the table after the union went on a strike against ford, general motors and stellantis. they're looking for significantly higher wages and pensions for employees. grady trimble is on the ground
9:04 am
in wayne, michigan. he's following it, doing a great job. what's the latest? >> the latest is that the uaw president says he's back at the bargaining table with the detroit three automakers today and the picketers are back outside of this factory in wayne, michigan for the second day in a row. president biden as you heard in lucas' report, voiced support for the automakers sharing some of their record profits with these workers, you would think that that's a message that resonates with workers, some of those we have spoken to are not pleased with president biden. the uaw president, when i asked him if he's going to let the biden administration negotiators sent to detroit to helped out into the building, he kind of brushed aside that they'll be here and wouldn't commit to letting them participate in the negotiations. but some other democratic lawmakers have been welcomed with open arms, including
9:05 am
senator bernie sanders, who is at a uaw rally yesterday. and michigan senator gary peters is across the street at that local union hall right now, with senator john fedorman, who drove all the way from festival to walk with the picketers. he was in his ford bronco, by the way, made at the factory these workers work at. take a listen to john fedderman. >> do you think it's protective for the president to send members of his administration to negotiate when the uaw seemed to indicate they don't want to help. >> you know, president biden is the best labor president in recent time and you know, i'm happy to stand with him, but i'm ready to be here with the senator here. >> not all the workers support president biden. they're worried about inflation and the transition to electric vehicles. >> you know, he supports them and i'm-- and i'm here-- i'm here to support it and the people here to support it, too.
9:06 am
>> from the automakers' point of view, they feel like they've put forward historically generous proposals in their words. ford and general motors in their latest offers, included a 20% increase in pay over the four years of the congress. stellantis just this morning said that they offered a 21% pay bump in the four years of this contract, but the uaw president has said the offers so far are not enough and they will strike for as long as they need to. we mentioned that they're not striking everywhere just yet. they're at this one ford plant in michigan, a gm plant in missouri, and a stellantis plant in ohio, but the uaw has threatened to expand the scope of this strike depending how negotiations are going. if that happens, it could have a huge impact on michigan's economy. griff. griff: oh, boy, here we go. grady trimble in the middle of all of it. thank you.

molly. molly: really kind of laying out what's happening on the ground. for more on where the strike and in her very own state. democratic michigan congresswoman debbie dingell joining us now. she's a member of the house energy and commerce committee. congresswoman, thank you for giving us a little bit of your time. you have been out there talking with some of these laborers that are out-- that are out striking and listening to them. what are they telling you? how dug in are there? >> so, molly, by the way, this strike isn't something that i'm just showing up all of a sudden. i'm in a union hall every weekend. i have been working with the uaw for months, and it's very clear what they want. in 2008, 2009 when this industry was in trouble they gave up their cost of living adjustment. they want to get their cost of living adjustment back. right now, in real terms, they are making 10% less than what they were making in 2008 and 2009. if you are working on an assembly line, you can have three people doing the same
9:08 am
thing, and they're each in there at a different tier. you can be a temporary employee for eight to 10 years and they're looking for job security. so that's what they're talking about and that's what they want. now, i want to say something, people have got to be very careful with words. whether someone's at the negotiating table is very different than whether someone's around talking to people or offering visor giving ideas. no government official, like me, a cabinet official, president of the united states, should be at the bargaining table. that is between companies and workers. molly: yet the administration policies are having an impact here. one of the big challenges that seems to be something that's a big discussion is the push towards electric vehicles. this administration wants the green energy, but yet, they also claim to be, you know, the big backers of the unions and some reporting that the two are really hard to blend together.
9:09 am
there's a new opinion piece in bloomberg that ev's require about 30% fewer labor hours per unit writing, if biden's ev vision is to be realized detroit will need fewer workers with less generation compensation packages precisely opposite of what the uaw would like. what do you make of that. >> i'm going to be-- anybody who has listened to me, i do it every single day, we are at the crossroad, these are not talking points, this is where the rubber meets the road. it isn't either/or. we can address climate change or take care of the workers, we can do there, but we have to make sure that the foundation are there. there are issues that are not even part of these contract negotiations because batteries are being made in joint venture agreements where-- which are not part of these
9:10 am
negotiations. the automakers want to be known for ice, combustion engine at what a battery are at. and this is where they have to be at. molly: massive subsidies, as far as green energy are concerned they want a piece of that. it can't be ignored, michigan is a battle ground state, it was in 2016, trump the first republican to win since 1988, 2020, biden gets the state back by a small margin and union households make up about fifth of the voters here. how much is the election year at play here, the negotiators know it, the president knows it, what does it mean? >> so, i'm going to split this into two different ways. i'm the one that predicted dup would win michigan and nobody believed me. he's playing to this, michigan is a competitive state, it's not a done deal who is going to win it next year.
9:11 am
this negotiations should not be about presidential politics, it's about the workers, their lives, their jobs, the future of the auto industry, how we're going to keep a competitive and build the electric vehicles here and not in china and i'm doing my best to keep presidential politics out of this, but i don't think it going to be successful, but i think that these negotiations need to not be a part of that and tell you that michigan is one of the ground zeros for next year. molly: congresswoman dingell, thank you for your insights. this is something the whole country is watching and there's room for this strike to ramp up further. we appreciate your thoughts today. thank you for joining us. >> thank you. griff: in a new poll you see here revealing voters are divided over whether or not house speaker kevin mccarthy's impeachment inquiry is real or bogus harriet hagman joins us

now, part of the houses natural resources committee and thank you for being here, congresswoman. where do you come down? the impeachment inquiry has launched and do you support it or why? >> absolutely, the american people are entitled to know what extent our foreign policy is dictated by the decisions and activities by hunter biden in places like china, working for the communist china party and same for ukraine. we have to get to the bottom, to what extent has the biden administration compromised the department of justice and irs as they've attempt today cover up the fact that hunter biden is a tax cheats, failed to p taxes on millions of dollars that he earned from malign country, and actual enemies of the united states of america. we need to have the-- we need to get to the information that shows the extent to which hunter biden was the bagman for joe biden when he was vice-president and also, since he has become president, to what extent he

has been compromised because of hunter biden's activities. so this is absolutely a legitimate exercise for the judiciary committee, as well as oversight in ways and means. this is about transparency, this is about good governance and it's about accountability so we need to get to the bottom of it. griff: in your mind, it was written there was sufficient evidence for an inquiry, not for actual impeachment, but inquiry. you believe that there's sufficient evidence for the inquiry going forward? >> absolutely, it's been exposed by the ways and means and judiciary and oversight committee. the amount of information coming out with the whistleblowers, from the devin archer interview and deposition, the fact is joe biden was involved in hunter biden's activities in foreign countries. we have the burisma situation, hunter biden was paid to be on the board. what are the skill sets that
9:14 am
hunter biden had to sell to burisma, an expert on that? absolutely, his dad admitted he withheld a billion dollars until they fired the prosecutor investigating burisma at the time that hunter biden was on the board. i don't know how it becomes any more clear that the policy was actually implemented based upon hunter biden's foreign activities. griff: do you believe that ultimately there are sufficient votes? does speaker mccarthy have the votes to move forward with something like this? you saw our poll, it's split pretty much down the middle. >> well, that's because i would say much of the mainstream media has done everything in their power to hide what is actually been going on with hunter biden, just like in october of 2020 trying to cover up what was on the laptop. griff: the white house, you saw
9:15 am

idea that the cartels wouldn't work with other adversarial countries or even terrorist groups to infiltrate our country and kill even more americans. look, it directly undercuts the reason why the department of homeland security was created and that they assigned the two essential pillars necessary to secure the homeland. border security and immigration enforcement and the biden administration has completely abandoned their federal responsibilities in those two areas and that's why we see the chaos and the increased threat level against the country, because they have totally stepped away from what is needed to secure the country and our national security. griff: well, and charles. the advice you would be giving dhs now, considering that cvp sources tell bill melugin and myself that there would be more than 1.5 million known
