global south advancing their interest at the expense of the united states and like-minded democracies. he has a huge opportunity here to make some progress. i do not want to overstate it but these relationships are what they should be he is soundly going to put on the table what's happening in ukraine. after all we have in the legal invasion completely unprovoked. ukraine certainly did nothing to justify this. we had not seen anything like this since world war ii. and the man who did this, putin, cannot even come to the un general assembly because he is subject to arrest in new york city as part of the interninternational criminal cos assigned to him the label of being a war criminal. so yes, there are opportunities here. i would love to see him point out the reality of these four tr adversarial countries of the united states and like-minded democracies china, russian, i run in north korea they are

indeed working together but they are also destabilizing the world. china and the end of pacific region intimidation and coercion of the countries there, it is russia starting as an indicator a major war again in europe. it is iran with a proxy wars going on in the middle east and we see kim jong un with his belligerence and rhetoric. more significantly with increasing nuclear arsenal and also his ballistic missiles and threatening the use of them. these dictators are destabilizing the world. i would love the president to really go after and point it out we have to recognize it for what it is. see the truth of it in stand up against it. steve are what is so ironic the united nations general assembly has condemned the invasion of ukraine and has condemned vladimir putin. but the security council sits there at like eight to solicit tiger it is because russia sits on the security council vetoing any condemnation.

can the united nations come back to the principles of its founding? can the president address that? it was designed to prevent what we are seeing in ukraine yet it has been a total abject failure in that. >> i do not hold much of faith faith inunited nations. everett meeting the aspirational goals it had windows formed a person world war ii parade this is where the institutions that we put in place to prevent world war iii. fortunately we have not had world war iii. one of the reasons for that certainly is the united states global leadership the presence of our military standing up against the soviet union. i now china will do very much the same thing with china. so we don't move down that path toward that calamity of world war iii. this institution were referring to a lot of backslapping glad field good things going on with everybody coming together. but let's face it they have not made much progress in the world.

i think the catering frankly to adversaries and ignoring the human rights violations and actually having some human rights violators on the human rights commission is looking at human rights violation is an absurdity. in the global south nation's many third world nations they are drifting away. they are more aligned as i indicated with the russia and china and the adversarial countries and that is something that should concern us. fighting could do some work here but he's not going to change it a one week but he could make some progress. eric: and finally, your sense of the threat or the meaning of the putin kim partnership they have gotten together. if russia helps with armaments and kim jong un helps rush it with his weapons in ukraine can we do anything to try to counter that? can the president say anything

in the for foreign-policy room o try to bring other countries together to face the potential threat? >> you are absolutely right it should put a spotlight on it. the tables have shifted here. when the un sanction north korea in the early part of the trump administration, russia even though they were part of the sanctions back toward it that it was providing oil at sea through third parties to north korea and providing economic assistance. what is different here is putin has his hand out. he meets artillery ammunition from north korea and he is going to get it. his defense industrial base cannot produce it quickly enough. what he has also done you can see he's put him on the world stage. the way it's going to be played in north korea is he has legitimacy he's being welcomed by a world leader the international press is there. he certainly wants on technology from russia to help with
