your staff has told you cut it out, this is just deception. >> he does not appear to be listening. i want to ask you about the impact abortion will have on the upcoming election and where democrats, particularly stand on this. you tweeted out that gavin newsom's refusing to say there should be any limit on abortion whatsoever. here is what he said in a recent interview, monday night. >> what is the policy, what should it be? >> the policy, it's not up to donald trump or me. it's up to you, to women that have to bear that responsibility. uniquely and distinctly and the reality, it's a political fray, it's total b.s. >> sandra: that's gavin newsom and here is kamala harris, the current vice president earlier today. listen. >> one does not have to abandon their faith or deeply held beliefs to agree the government should not be telling her what to do with her body.
11:01 am
this is the reason to really take seriously elections because what the supreme court took away, the united states congress can put back in place. >> sandra: so are democrats failing to clearly state where they stand on this issue? >> yes, yes, and we always talk about abortion being an achilles heel for republicans, and look, republicans have lost every single ballot initiative post roe. we don't often talk about the other side. 22% say abortion should be legal in the third trimester, 37% in the second trimester, 13 weeks after. democrats are refusing to name any line, so the republican party should start asking two really important questions. when does a baby feel pain, should abortion be banned when a baby feels pain, and should a baby outside the womb who survives abortion be protected

>> sandra: crews have begun recovering debris from a stealth jet after a pilot was forced to eject from it, a mystery the pentagon needs to explain. many americans are curious how the military lost a jet worth between 80 and $90 million. jonathan serrie is joining us. what do we know about what exactly happened? >> recovery crews located the debris field in rural williamsburg county, south carolina. that's about 60 miles north of where the aircraft was initially reported missing. on sunday afternoon, the pilot ejected after what military officials will only describe as a mishap. the pilot parachuted to the ground near charleston, was

when the pilot noticed an issue that required him to eject. he punched out of the plane while it was on auto pilot, they were looking and the area of lakes 25 miles north of charleston, but the jet remains were found some 80 miles away, and the whole thing is still a mystery why the pilot punched out in the first place. >> that's correct. and when i was briefed by the marine corps yesterday, i asked if they knew how long the jet could last in the air on auto pilot with the amount of fuel it had, they had no answers. the public did not know if there was a public safety concern and the public deserves greater transparency, i'm not talking about spilling national secrets on a classified aircraft, we are just talking about normal public safety, public emergency types of questions. the pentagon just refused to answer and so you know, we have more questions than answers at this point, but i'm going to be demanding answers for south carolina, for our local leaders to get to the bottom of it.

we will do the same thing as we have always done, that's not right for the country. we came up here to change the direction of the nation and i want to see us do that for the good. >> john: had you happy with the john speaker mccarthy is doing? >> i would say, i would put me in the column of being very frustrated. i don't like feeling like i was misled or lied to on particular pieces of legislation. i worked very hard to show a road map and a pathway for women, for republican women, how we can move forward and win suburban women over next year, worked on a number of pieces of legislation fallen on deaf ears and ignored, no matter the promises made by the leadership. put me in the very unhappy column today. >> john: do you think there will be a shutdown? >> 50/50 whether or not it happens. right now, meetings to do with leadership and different members against the continuing resolution, it was a productive conversation but hard to say if they will get to 218. >> john: last question here, are

you concerned if there is a shutdown it's going to bite republicans? >> republicans always get blamed. god's honest truth. democrats and republicans put us in this place. our debt hit $33 trillion today. that sham of a debt ceiling deal three months ago is going to add almost $20 trillion to debt over the next ten years. if neither side is willing to address the problem, the spending problem we have today, we are just going to get the same thing we have always gotten, spending our kids' future into oblivion and we cannot afford to do that. >> john: congresswoman nancy mace good of you to join us today. hope you get the answers on the jet. >> same. >> sandra: do your college kids need a hug, would you pay someone to do it for you? >> john: brian brenberg and jackie deangelis fired up with the college concierge. what do we always say, son? liberty mutual customizes your car insurance... so you only pay for what you need. that's my boy. ♪
