autoindustry specifically. the white house says on tuesday the president is going to see first hand what's going on. getting a sense of what's happening on the frontlines as workers demanding higher waging this strike has dragged on for more than a week now impacting operations at three u.s. automakers general motors and ford, the uaw says it is even expanding walkouts at gm as talks drag on, however, talks appear to be progressing a little bit better with ford as for the president's thoughts he posted on friday to go to michigan to join picket line and stand in solidarity with men and women of uaw as they have a fair share for keeps manufacturing thriving with well paid uaw jobs and uaw leaders say they welcome the president's visit. >> we invite and encourage everyone who supports our cause to join us on the picket line from our friends and families, all the way up to the president

dan booth case capital kenny and tom, he's owner of six car dealerships including a ford dealer in new jersey. daniel let me start request you you cover the brotd economy and follow federal reserve money and you know we have these conversations daily. what do you see as far as the impact already i'm reading 1.6 billion dollars so far? >> they're starting to be economic fallout in terms of production that's going to sap jobs out of the u.s. economy. but we have to remember the back drop charles. the big three automakers ramped up production into three months beginning in march. and they ended up with 2 million cars in inventory with 15 million units selling per year on an annual rate. last time we had two million units in inventory in 2019 selling a the a $17 million annualized rate so demand is not what it once was so impact of this strike is not hurting these automakers as much as it would

otherwise i would have one last thing that's that the revenue at big dealership service centers, is at a 5-year low so again, they're aiming to hurt. but if the back drop matters right now, charles. charles: i know like i've got to go to tom she hit a few things that you know about firsthand. what do you make automakers are kind of worried this would happen. there's an overproduction and there's that buy you some time? does that buy the consumers some time? >> it definitely buys consumers some time inventories on new car side are definitely -- they saw this coming so they started producing more. but i have to tell you i disagree on one issue. parts are going to be the issue. supply chain gets shutdown parts can't get to the dealerships. when the supply chain gets shut down and start laying off employees what they do is they shut the truckers down, parts cannot get to the dealerships. and if the parts can't get to the dealerships dealerships can't pex the cars, consumers can't get their cars on the roads and you know what, that's

catastrophic because they have to get to work and get children to school. you're shutting down the transportation system. it's disastrous and i have to tell you what the uaw is asking for is unsustainable. charles: so -- are you then saying you kind of lean toward the car companies themselves? do you think the uaw deserves any sort of raise and is it intriguing they did begin these strikes at final assembly points not choke points final assembly points maybe if it is a short strike there won't be the rep l effect that you've described. >> yeah. you know, listen, i have to tell you, you know, what they're asking for is unsustainable you can't get a 40% pay increase in a 10% inflation environment and reduce your work hours to 32 hours and get paid for 40. you know, it's yeah. car companies have record profits but what they have to look at is peel back onion. ford is on track to be 4.5

billion dollars in this ev insanity that biden created. now consumer doesn't want they're not buying into the ev so they created this mandates. they're losing billions of dollars on that side of the fence and i have to go back precovid because precovid companies weren't making these kind of profits. what happens if we go back to precovid -- reality? and you know, we give a 40% pay increase and we give a 32-hour workweek these companies will go bankrupt. what you're doing is portioning manufacture to start looking outside of the u.s. to produce because they can't produce at a -- a competitive rate. so they're going to start looking in mexico venezuela and we want to drive these jobs back to the u.s. charles: kennedy because of the ev mandate by the way -- the kind of losses that tom just described automake reverse taking there's a wink and nod at some point if the democrats keep the white house, we're going to be mandated to own these cars,

right now they're trying to -- all of the hey you know what 7500 bucks, a lot of folk don't need a $7500 tax credit because the uaw is saying hey after this we're going lose they're going to fire 30 or 40% of us. you don't need us look at tesla profit margins so they're saying our survival is this moment now we can't wait any long or. >> right that may be true but remember the contract is only four years long. so it is not like this takes them out forever to your point yes as we go to shift into evs there's a change in jobs there's that projection to be a massive loss in jobs so yeah i whawns the uaw is doing i also agree with i think that it is probably a little bit rich what they're asking for right they want higher wages in -- a shorter workweek i don't see where that makes a lot of sense but they should get paid a fair wage and mandates to buy ev if

there's a democratic administration they have to build out the infrastructure because the infrastructure does not support evs right now. >> infrastructure doesn't support any of this kenny now you're talking you're talking about -- but it is a mandate daniel let me go back to you because this is nonsense call to get a 32 hour workweek and paid 30, 42 hours but a start of a negotiation but we started this off with the right word, inflation right we're talking about everyone watching this show. they have impacted negatively by inflation. and these autoworkers believe it or not are making less money than almost anyone else in manufacturing over the last 15 years. and so you add inflation it is negative. so you've got to feel there's a deal, i wonder how long it would take both sides every ten days all of the workers if they go on strike every ten days is 5.6 billion we kangt absorb that as a nation can we? >> no we can't and you're

young republican from indiana. >> how does that help the blue collar six swing states i don't know how many semiconductor plants. this is what we're talking about right now the blue collar workers and uaw is a great proxy for that right -- rank and file not the president we know that. but the rankin feel who overwhelmingly overperform for president trump in the last couple of elections. >> a lot of these plapghts it is not just engineers from stanford who are working in plants you actually need blue collar people who are working in the semiconductor plants been announced all across the country. charles: that is 500 engineers from taiwan. >> you need those people too but i think it is a mix. charles and so -- >> you're not going to say semiconductors is a way to go lose your job and we'll retrain you we've played that game learn how to code it ain't going to work. >> but there's not -- not just chips plants. it is also the, you know, solar

they'll have to go through razor wire and mexican side on the other side there's a group on the mexican side crossing now in a border patrol boat in the middle of the river as we kind of circle around and we can take you, we have a land camera on this as well. you can get different views, it's underneath the port of entry bridge. there's a train track on one bridge and a port of entry above us here. but these migrants just taking their time crossing while another group have been waved from the ones in the island from the mexican seed to start crossing we're seeing that as border patrol monitors it and tries to make sure no one gets into a situation where the current can carry them away and a body pulled from the river yesterday afternoon charles a heart wrenching snapshot of the really crisis a humanitarian part of this crisis three migrants have drowned in three days this is scene we've been

watching all week long agents here tell me they have got about 11,000 migrants just this area and the past seven days. levels that they just schismly never see here most of the migrants by the way charles are from venezuela once they get across the river, they are going to have to go through that ray czar wire we can show you a little bit of video of them having to go through that and they walk along road up here to officials where they will be taken into custody most of them released there's no capacity here in this area to keep them or to hold them that's why they're going get this notice to appear in a court date way down the road to apply for their asylum hearing and real quick i want to show you numbers releasing august numbers yesterday, more than 232,000 migrants, highest on record you're looking now you can see that fiscal year to date. well over 2.2 million and there are still a few days left in this fiscal year finally back out here again i want to give

i don't think you'll get calls that protecting borders is race racist but should be smart and get something out of mayorkas on next visit coming up. i want to switch gears, though, because while all of this is going down right you have negotiators -- still down on the hill trying to hash out a budgets deal, obviously, everyone would leak to avoid a government shutdown could happen in over a week now so far you're not onboard with some of the things that have comp with short-term funding -- so how -- with we cap the livelihood of a shutdown for us? >> sure, sure, charles i'm so glad that you're the one who is actually on here with me this morming because you do have common sense. you do understand that we're going collect about $5 trillion worth of revenue into the federal -- this year but they're asking for $7 trillion a year to be spent and all of that will never be debated, responsibly and transparently unless we're able to bring those 12 appropriation bills up. we've known that it is not a

mystery. process started earlier this year and while these a lot of folks are focusing on trying to pass a continuing resolution that merely spends policies some of us are still here saying we want to pass these appropriation bills and now that we have gotten to the time is running out for when government is fully funded through regular process they try to use that as a tool to submit to the ways of old. and charles, it doesn't work. we -- if we pass a continuing resolution this appropriations process that we are -- that we're going through right now to have open debate and propose amendments, and transparency responsibly fund government that process will stop. and unfortunately -- this is what it takes. charles: you know, it's -- , of course, you always get the pushback this is not the time to negotiate things like that but i

integrity and fairness. charles: what do you think you heard representative jordan allude to the tax part of this. the gun charge, it was sort of, you know, get out of jail card free -- aspect of it. the tax implications i still wonder and hope we get more on that because there are a lot of unanswered questions there. >> i think exactly right. when you start to look at hunter biden finances the taxes, source of funds, any of the issues in that respect whatsoever you get very quickly down a path where you need to have questions answered from joe biden himself. so certainly that seems to be the obvious issue with pursuing any of those potential charges even further. the gun charges are distinctly removed from that that doesn't require david wise to get into questions because it is a quick keel you can easily conduct further investigations into the source of funds. but again, that leads directly to the president in many respects. charles: let me ask you also

charles: tropical storm ophelia making land fall and bracing wednesday and rain moving the east coast and fox weather on the outer banks of north carolina. reporter: hey charles right now we're on southern part southeastern part of ophelia it made land fall 100 miles southwest of us this morning at 6:20. now, we're on the drier but windy side of the storm so let's show you some of the impacts that we're seeing. you can see it just behind me, the waves they are still large and honestly quite beautiful to look at but dangerous. the other side of this is going to be the wind impact.
