electability coming in the election. what we need out here in the >> lawrence: what about you ma'am, what did you see there was there a moment that you thought that's my guy or gal? i thought all the candidates had suggestions and feelings for the country. they had great points for me not one in continuing, no. >> lawrence: sir, was there any ccandidate that dethroned donald trump? he is the big elephant in the room he just wasn't. >> there i still think he is the big elephant in the room. what i saw last night was really an audition to join the trump administration as a cabinet member or running mate. i still don't think anyone did enough to take him out of the top spot. >> lawrence: that's the thoughts that we have been hearing from folks all morning. they wanted to see more. they wanted to hear about the forgotten men and women. they wanted to hear about policy. it just doesn't seem like any

candidate rose to the occasion. they talked about what they would do. it wasn't that fiery moment, guys. i will send it to you in new york. >> brian: fire moments. a lot of people talking over each other all candidates knew this was their moment. they wanted to come the candidate everyone was talking about today. i don't think anyone lost. i think governor desantis is the only one who improved markedly from week one. although tim scott started off strong and then at the end he wasn't called on much. >> steve: ron desantis we really didn't see him much in the first hour but he made up for lost time in the second hour. you know, over the last week or two we have been talking about i wonder what those sound bites we're going to be talking about are? you know, those moments? i think one of them we just played in that montage at the top of the show it's when chris christie the former governor of

the great state of new jersey said donald was ducking and came up with a new nickname donald duck. and the other one was in this soundbite. and it's where nikki haley goes after -- and tim scott both go after vivek ramaswamy. it's been revealed this week that apparently vivek once upon a time, not that far ago, actually, did business in china and, in fact, was involved in the same family that paid hunter biden millions of dollars. anyway, haley and scott went after him on that and this is how that went. >> every time i hear you i feel a little bit dumber for what you say. because i can't believe. tiktok situation. what they're doing -- 150 million people are on tiktok. that means they can get your contacts, they can get your financial information. they can get your emails. they can get text messages. they can get all of these things. china knows exactly what they're doing. >> party and i'm going to say

nation, you should ban it like we have on federal phones. that was a legitimate debate. >> lawrence: brian, you make such a powerful point because here's the deal vivek's entire campaign trying to get to the point where you communicate from a republican standpoint with young voters in a better way. and so a lot of young folks regardless of the threat on r. on tiktok regardless is it is a threat. the president of the united states will need to have a decision whether we need to ban tiktok and china and all of that the one frustrating thing for all the politicians on the stage is that vivek makes all the issues sound so simple that the issues have such a simple solution. they are so used to going on platitudes and talking in long form about policy. and so i think what nikki haley was saying is, you know, i feel like you dumb this stuff down

but it's actually a lot more complex than you make it out to be. we will see if it works with the american public. i think there is something authentic from the american people's standpoint about a politician that is quite direct. again, the voters are going to have to decide. i think there is going to be a lot to chew on with that exchange alone, steve. >> steve: yeah. well, you know, and a lot of people are talking about it. about how bad it is but here's the reality. because there are mrs. and millions of young americans, who politicians want to vote for them on tiktok. tiktok ain't going anywhere. next soundbite, ainsley, once again, involves vivek who had a new very tall hairstyle by the way last night. >> ainsley: the taller the hair the closer to god. unfair attack. thing i was actually going to retort with although i didn't want to get into mudslinging she is among many governors courted chinese investment into her own state. the fact of the matter is i have done something that very few american ceos have. i made a clear pledge not to do business in china when i started my second company stride. because i learned from the experience of the first. i talked about those experiences in my book ""woke inc."." and the reality every other american dro is beholden to the ccp. there is a reason if you look at this network the last couple years i have been the most vocal ceo who has been an opponent of businesses doing business in china because i understand that threat. from a reagan's perspective, right? talked about ronald reagan and his position against the soviet union. what did he say? we win, they lose. that's my position with respect to the communist party of china and that's how i'm going to lead us. >> steve: ainsley? >> ainsley: yeah. that was him explaining his side of the story. so it's nice to hear that side of the story. i noticed there were so many

people on stage saying well, you did this and you believe that. and then you can fact-check it to find out whether or not it's true or not. chris christie he did that he was talking about donald trump and the wall and he only built 52 miles of the wall. well then mike pence spoke up and said that's not true. we built hundreds of miles. you fact checked it was 458 # miles of the wall. mike pence said i negotiated the remain in mexico. then there was nikki haley accused of spending $50,000, more than $50,000 on the drapes when she was u.n. ambassador at an apartment on first avenue here. >> steve: curtains. >> ainsley: and she said, no, no, no, no, no. the "new york times" did have to retract a story they wrote about it she said no, those curtains were there when i moved it in. the obama administration did that. >> brian: tiktok really easy. are you pro-spy balloon? if you are not pro-chinese spy balloon you should not be pro-tiktok. even though young people were there, they are getting all their information and

intelligence and providing the news feed to shape the news the next generation is learning from. there is no question. it's like being pro-confucius institute or pro-letting chinese students become spys at universities. we should not be having tiktok. and the president knows that but he knows young voters on it so he is going to give up national security again don't worry about it. tiktoker nose ring sitting indian style white house with purple hair who is gender fluid who he is going to talk to and try to act cool to. good luck with that. >> ainsley: lawrence, i have a little one who doesn't have a phone yet. i would love for it to be banned not only for the security reasons but because i don't want her to have it. >> brian: take it off. >> ainsley: no, kids can't do this. then she is not competing with friends. >> brian: everybody knows. ask mike gallagher and marco rubio. all the people studying they are using it as a spying device.

governed on. strong american leadership at home and abroad. a pro-growth policies. fiscal responsibility. the right to life. and traditional values. or whether we are going to follow the on the populism. >> saw doug burgum on the other side having to fight his way into every one is that your strategy? even if i'm not called on. >> i didn't come here to watch a debate i came to be part of a presidential debate. when we got topics where i know i have got more experience, more relevant experience, more current experience as a sitting governor than everybody else on the stage yeah, you have got to fight. i'm ready to fight for the american people. >> feel great. i think we are moving to a different phase of this campaign. i'm thinking about how we actually lead this country forward. a lot of personal attacks came my way. i'm not bothered by that. >> do you think you opened that box by saying everyone is bought and paid for and then today saying 11th commandment let's not talk about it but they are still ready to come after you? >> i don't think so. i think even if the first debate

you can watch the footage they came for me first. i'm not in this debate to play tit for tat like toddlers. we are adults and patriots. somebody is going to have to rise above that and step above as a leader. that's what i aim to do on that stage tonight. i want to level with people. i got to be frank about this. i am the new guy. it's okay for me to take some heat. i should it. should be a right of passage but i have to earn the trust of people across this country. i get that and i embrace it and accept it. >> what is it like to watch the debates from your vantage point? >> i am so proud of him. he showed who he really is he is a unifier. he is a leader. and i'm so grateful that the american people got to see that part of him. thankfully, that's the man i married. [laughter] >> pete: who is more nervous him or you when he is up on stage? >> probably neither. >> i don't think either of us are particularly nervous. i have entire faith in this man. >> i assume you are a big fan of "fox & friends." >> i am. i watch you guys all the time come on, it's fox. i'm here.

>> pete: who would you rather debate president trump or ron desantis after watching tonight? >> i think -- look, these guys didn't lay a glove on trump and nikki haley has a lot to say about ron desantis' line executive order and anti-fracking stance and anti-oil drilling stance but it was a nothing burger. objectively. i know i'm the spin guy and i know i'm a democrat. but biden -- i thought it was a good night for biden. >> pete: do you feel like biden is run holding you back from running? >> no. are you kidding? i'm enthusiastically into you that as stick about promoting agenda and it his second term character, decency and i'm an old fashioned guy and i believe in a little loyalty. >> pete: governor, thank you. come back to "fox & friends" any time. >> pete: you heard the governor there, guy. is he a big fan of "fox & friends." you guys should book him soon to come on the program. i know he is going to be on with sean that big debate coming up. is he welcome any time. you heard him he said i don't think they laid a glove on

>> carley: bee are back with headlines starting with the crimes caiaphas in philadelphia where looters ransacked businesses for a second straight night. police arrested 52 people including a social media influencer who goes by the name meatball. she is being charged with six felonies related to inciting a riot and encouraging people to steal. fox news has reached out to her lawyers for comment. have not yet heard back. this follows a mass group of looters ran being is aing multiple businesses on tuesday night as well. new jersey senator bob menendez will face a democratic caucus today for the very first time since pleading not guilty to federal bribery charges. more than half of senate democrats are calling for his resignation. majority leader chuck schumer has not done so but says today's meeting will decide how the party will proceed. menendez and his wife are accused of accepting gifts like gold bars and stacks of cash in exchange for u.s. secrets and favors for businessmen. those are your headlines, brian, over to you. >> brian: yeah, that seems like an interesting case.

war in europe, we wound up going -- having to go in later and sacrifice tens of billions of dollars. but, more importantly, over half a million american lives. we need to arm the ukrainians, to degrade the russian army. this is a fight with china and russia and north korea. and iran. we need to send them all a message on this. and ukraine wants to help us do that. we should help them to help us. >> brian: governor, i think you know about half the republican house does not agree with you about ukraine. they just want to stop it including people on that stage last night. the one thing the "new york times" looked into this. and i have talked to other people, too. you say the president only built -- former president only built 53 miles of wall. they say he built 458 miles of wall because it includes secondary barriers and much of the replacement as really no comparison. it was actually rail ties and replaced by 30-foot bollards. so he did improve and add onto the wall. would you agree with that?

>> look, brian, he said he was going to build the wall across the entire border of the united states and mexico. and that mexico was going to pay for it. and when you go on -- when you go on the website and look it up it's 52 new miles of wall. that's what he built. he improved some other parts but it doesn't matter because in the end not only didn't he do what he promised to do, we paid for all of it. his promises in '15 and '16 were a lie. he didn't accomplish it. he didn't get it done. nor did he change our immigration laws one bit so that they could be sustained in a democratic presidency. all of them got reversed by joe biden. and he had a republican majority his first two years in the house and the senate to get it done. and he didn't get it done because he spent more time bickering with people like john mccain than he did actually getting something done. >> brian: but he did get -- i was down there. one was literally a split rail fence so it had to be replaced. is it true you will not be his running mate if he does get the

were determined to outcheer them. thank you for being here. four term governor chris is a su here. thanks so much for being here, governor. governor, have you made the argument that you supported donald trump both times. but don't feel like he can win. you got all these folks that were on the debate stage last night. did you see any candidate that dethroned him with their performance last night? >> no. but they don't have to dethrone him. not yet. even in the iowa and new hampshire primary, they don't have to win necessarily. if have you one or two candidates solid second place show they are the alternative to yesterday's news as i like to say it, that's really what they need to do it. those candidates don't have to win but donald trump can't lose. if donald trump loses iowa and new hampshire he is really toast. if any of those candidates can just differentiate from themselves which is why with trump not on the staining it doesn't matter right now. >> lawrence: who do you think had a moment there that the voters said, okay, this is a person i can support? >> i will say this, i think nikki haley showed that the first debate wasn't an an enter

recognition. wasn't a flash in the pan. she understands that elections are about choices and differentiation. and she knows -- she does her homework on all the other candidates. i think desantis did very well as well. vivek is still vivek. he is fiery, incredibly smart. comes well-prepared as well. i thought burgum and tim scott did not push themselves on the stage the first debate but they really kind of made sure they were part of that discussion this time around. >> lawrence: are you going to make an endorsement? >> absolutely. >> lawrence: the reason why i ask is folks are looking for that to be the game changer in new hampshire. maybe not in iowa but in new hampshire, you are very popular here. you made the decision that this is enough for me and my family. is there a candidate in the race. a lot of governors in the race that you are going to support? >> oh, look, when i decide who i'm going to vote for, i'm not very good about being coy. i'm i will let everybody know about it. i will get behind and candidate. >> lawrence: what is taking so long right now they haven't made the case just yet. >> they haven't made the case
