california's new u.s. senator, lafns butler as we mourn the enormous loss of dianne feinstein. the very freedoms she fought forks reproductive freedom, equal protection, and safety from gun violence have never been under greater assault. lafns spent her entire career fighting for women and girls and has been a fierce advocate for working people. she will make history becomes the first black lesbian to openly serve in the u.s. senate from her time as president of emily's list to leading the state's largest labor union. she has always stood up for what is right and what has led her heart and her values. there is just one problem. given the fact that she has been a political strategist and activist, essentially. she doesn't live in the district. she doesn't live in the state right now. i just looked it up. you just have to live in the state at the time of the election. it's not an election. it's an appointment. so apparently she is going to wind up registering to vote in california.
