holding a texas congressman at gunpoint yesterday about a mile from the capitol hill. >> steve: this is the second attack this year in washington, d.c. on a member of congress. >> ainsley: i'm glad he is okay. alexandria hoff is live in washington for us. did they find the guys? >> they have not. only 25% closure rate on carjacking in d.c. good chance these suspects will be able to evade police for quite some time. fortunately congressman cuellar was not injured as he was robbed of vehicle, phones and other items in the popular navy yard neighborhood according to d.c.'s metro police had happened around 9:30 last night and involved three males. u.s. capitol police are also working the case. police were able to locate his vehicle. the texas democrat chief of staff wrote as congressman cuellar was parking his car this evening, three armed assailants approached the congressman and stole his vehicle. luckily not harmed and working with local law enforcement. thank you to metro metro pd in

recovering his vehicle. mike lee weighed in on this writing my friend cuellar became the victim of a crime tonight in what is considered a nice part of d.c. d.c. is dangerous. something has gone terribly wrong here for far too long. congress has the sole power to make d.c. laws. >> 750 carjackings have occurred in the district 75% of those cases a gun was involved. actually another stat, it's up 500 percent than this week a year ago. this is also the second house democrat anear the capitol this year. in february you had congressman angie craig assaulted in the elevator of her apartment building. guys? >> ainsley: she did get away. in june that 26-year-old man pleaded guilty. >> steve: alexandria a this particular neighborhood where this happened is where national stadium is. it's called navy yard. a number of members of congress lives there one of my kids lives

they have allowed on the street that keep recommitting this same crime. >> brian: it's chicago, portland, new york. the same thing. everybody defund the cops let's reimagine police are now forced to backtrack on that and pretend we have short-term memory loss. >> steve: what is different about this is washington, d.c. is the federal city. there is oversight by congress. and if the local authorities are going to do anything as alexandria just read the x from mike lee the senator from out west. maybe congress should get involved and say we need to have oversight because we need to keep the federal city safe. >> ainsley: there is so many crime right now. when you are going out with your family you need to look behind your back. you need to be safe. you need to always be vigilant hough is around you. i talked to a lady last night who said she was shopping at a store and went over to her daughter's house. and she ran in to say hey to her grandchildren. left the car out in the driveway, obviously. keys in the car, unfortunately. guys come in. she walked outside, the car was

finally, a family's prayers answered. >> ainsley: thank goodness this 9-year-old child charlotte senna. your prayers were answered to. we asked everybody to pray yesterday. she was kidnapped. >> brian: todd joins us where the girl was taken. >> todd: an amazing sense of relief. good morning to all three of you. i am in the state park where 9-year-old charlotte sena was kidnapped. take a look at the timeline of events from when she was abducted to when she was found. charlotte vanished some time after 6:15 p.m. showered night when she took a bike ride with some friend. her parents quickly became concerned as the sun went down. they called 911 after they found her bike abandoned in the woods. police immediately began searching for charlotte declaring her missing and showing amber alert on sunday morning. here is where things get really interesting.

early yesterday morning police say the system actually showed up at the family's house to drop a ransom note in the mailbox. police were able to lay of the fingerprint, trace it to the suspect's camper was charlotte was eventually found. governor kathy hochul addressing the public yesterday once an arrest was made. listen. >there was some resistance. the suspect was taken into custody, and immediately the little girl was found in a cabinet, cupboard. she was rescued. >> 47-year-old craig nelson ross jr. now in custody after a brief stint in the hospital. exact charges have not been filed yet. but authorities are expected to provide more information today. earlier i spoke to one of the sen naps friends everyone obviously is relieved that charlotte is safe. >> just elated. i mean, i obviously think you have -- you try to stay as optimistic as possible but you have to think of the bad side of

this. it never occurred, of course. so now we're just thrilled. >> authorities say this is still an active investigation as they were still questioning ross late late last night impressive search. 400 people took part in the search over 400 miles. charlotte school will have extra counselors available to talk with any of her classmates or staff who need support. a huge sigh of relief. >> lawrence: real quickly, was this suspect on the radar? sex offender? do we know anything about him and his past? >> todd: there was a report in a local newspaper here that this individual had a criminal history of sexual abuse. but, in terms of individuals in this community, you saw my interview at 5:30 with a family friend, they had no knowledge of this man at least patrick the man that i interviewed. still remains to be seen whether

the family had any knowledge of this individual. again, patrick, the individual that i interviewed, the family friend, was somewhat reserved in giving an answer there. that's all expected to come out later on. keep in mind, lawrence, they lived only about two miles away from where this suspect was ultimately found. so, keep that in mind. >> this is a very, very tiny community here. not a huge population here like you think of in new york city. this is upstate, new york. so, my guess is that over the course of the next couple days, weeks and months, people are going to be oh, yeah, i saw that person and then his background will, i think, come into a little bit more focus. >> ainsley: tell us more about this camper. it was two miles away from where her parents lived you said. from the campground. >> steve: behind the mother's house. >> ainsley: he lived in this camper and the little girl was found in cabinet covered up in his camper? >> todd: right. this camper/mother's house combo

reearth reportedly two miles away from the siena family home. also, there is reports that when the suspect allegedly put the ransom note in, obviously cops are at the house. so they actually saw this all transpire that in combination with the fingerprint helped lead them to this suspect pretty quickly. >> steve: fingerprint was tied. >> brian: not only a sexual deviant but you walk to the house with a ransom note? >> todd: again i'm not going to pass judgment on this individual's mental state. to ainsley's point, yeah, in all likelihood, when it all comes out, he is probably. >> brian: en idiot. >> todd: not joining mensa any time soon. >> steve: that's a polite way to put it. the world is breathing a sigh of relief that she is going home. >> ainsley: she will need counseling. in that interview i watched great job this, no. interview with the parents' good friend dad so elated.

posed with his glasses off, the judge suggested that, guy right there, he was open to getting rid -- >> brian: what a clown. >> steve: getting rid of some of the older transactions. trump's side said had to be dismissed because of the statute of limitations. donald trump said on that guy, brian, to your point now right there. he said this judge made a very fair judgment right there. however, it's unclear if a chunk of the case will actually be formally dismissed based on what the judge said. trump took the judge's comments to be a victory through a double thumbs up and then he said this after the festivities. >> the last five minutes was outstanding because the judge essentially conceded that the statute of limitations that we won at the court of appeals is in effect; therefore, about 80% of the case is over. i was going to come out and say

that, as you know, we are not entitled to a jury, which is pretty unusual in the united states of america, so we think it's very unfair that i don't have a jury. but the judge's last statement was very fair. and if i read it right, i interpret that in the way everyone else in the room seems to interpret that the statute of limitations is a very real thing in this country. and that would be about 80% of this case would be over. >> ainsley: he was saying because the transactions prior to 2014 are now not a bart of this case. so that's why 80% of the case he says is over. when it comes to the jury trial. alina was asked with that with carley and todd. she said section 6312 no right to a jury trial. there is no option to check a box for a jury trial because a lot of people saying why didn't she allow for a jury. >> steve: they forgot to check the box. >> ainsley: she said that was not an option. alina did not forget to request a jury. >> lawrence: yesterday you did a great job in telling us about the property value.

it struck my interest andy some research apparently the son they went and talked with the real estate folks in florida and the president of the balm beach board of realtors john pickeringtpicketvery rarely do e county appraisal and county estimate and rarely look at the component as factor when evaluating real estate. then the son actually went and talked to another real estate broker leann allen schultz with respect to mar-a-lago, just the land alone we think is close to $500 million. >> ainsley: absolutely. >> lawrence: when you have the local real estate people officially making fun of the judge saying he has no idea of how real estate works and how evaluations work. >> steve: right. because that value. and the real estate insiders down in palm beach say that that mar-a-lago property should be, you know, if it was residential, it would be worth like $300 million. and the judge yesterday said please stop saying that i valued mar-a-lago at $18 million.

they were simply using palm beach county tax valuations. and between the years of 2011 and 2021, it was assessed between 18 and $27 million. and in 2020, the trump organization agreed with the appraiser's value of 27 million. and the reason it's got a lower value is because it's not a residence. it was deemed restricted as a private club. after we talked about it yesterday, eric trump texted me and said if it changes, if that property changes or is decided not to be a club, it goes back to being a residential home, in which case it would have the higher valuation. >> ainsley: if it's palm beach county or actual assessment what you could actually sell it for which is completely vastly different. >> steve: big difference. >> ainsley: it seems like this is all an opinion. >> brian: think about this. with all going on in this city, overrun by immigrants and crime and carjacking and everything,

>> we are back with some headlines, philadelphia police trying to track down this armed motorcyclist caught on camera stomping out a woman's back windshield on sunday night. can you see him dropping a handgun before picking it up and aiming it right at member. according to the "new york post" the woman's two children were in the car. arrests in philadelphia are piling up new in connection with to a two day long looting spree that destroyed several cars. so far police have arrested over 70 people.

jury selection begins today in the trial of former ftx founder sam bankman-fried. the mogul is facing money laundering and federal charges. he was accused of running one of the biggest scams in u.s. history. four of the former associates taken plea deals. they are all expected to testify against bankman-fried. and those are your headlines, guys. over to you. >> steve: a lot going on. thank you very much, carley. >> carley: you are welcome. thank you for noticing. >> brian: happening today in delaware the president's son is due in court on felony gun charges. >> steve: that's right. hunter biden is set to be arraigned in person after a judge denied his request for a remote video hearing. said, nope, no special treatment. lawrence lawrence our own brooke singman is outside the courthouse with more. brook, what can you tell us? >> hey, good morning you, you guys. this courthouse behind me is where hunter biden is expected to arrive around 10:00 a.m.

is he expected to walk in and plead not guilty to these federal gun charges. stemming from special counsel david weiss' investigation. now, the in person arraignment comes after a judge rejected his request to appear virtually. the judge saying hunter biden should not receive special treatment in this matter absent some unusual circumstances. now, the president's son is accused of buying a gun back in 2018 while illegally using drugs. something he eventually admitted in his own memoir. he is facing three separate charges. one for lying on the gun application. one for lying to the gun store clerk. and one for actually possessing the firearm while using those illegal drugs. now, if convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison plus a $750,000 fine. and when it comes to the voters, new polling shows 72% say hunter's legal troubles actually have no bearing on the way they will voted in 2024.

alert. 9-year-old charlotte sena who disappeared during a camping trip in upstate new york over the weekend, has been found. she is safe. she is in good health. the 48-hour search came to an end with the help of a ransom note which police were able to match fingerprints that were dating back to the 1999. the male suspect is now in custody. 47-year-old craig nelson ross jr. reportedly has a criminal history including sexual abuse. here with more, executive director of the national center for missing and exploited children and co-host of in pursuit with john walsh, callahan walsh. good morning, callahan. >> good morning. thanks for having me. >> ainsley: thanks for coming on. >> we are so thrilled to be able to report. this everyone was praying for this child all across the country. tell us how they were able to track that note with the fingerprint. why was this fingerprint of this guy in the system back from 1999? >> yes. so about 4:20 in the morning, monday morning. he actually left a note in the

mailbox. a ransom note for charlotte at the parents' home. the parents weren't there at the time. they were still at the camp site searching for charlotte. however, law enforcement was able to get their hands on that note and able to match fingerprints that they had in their system from 1990s dui that this individual had been charged with. that's how they were able to link this individual with the kidnapping and able to rescue charlotte alive as well. i mean, amazing, amazing news. >> ainsley: it is amazing. callahan, how did he know her address, did she tell him, do you think? >> we're not sure at this point. this is all unfolding in real time. he did not live far from the home, and he was there in the park when the parents were there. so it's possible that he knew this family. that he had been targeting charlotte at this point. we're not quite sure. >> ainsley: he has a history of sexual assault. etodd was interviewing a family friend. sounds like the little girl was not touched and she is okay.

do you know anything about that? >> at this point, we don't. you know, we know she was in good health and in good spirits. it's just amazing that she is home with her family now. this family is whole again. of course, any amount of trauma that she has indiewrld, you know, is going to take time to heal. but, this family can hug their little girl again and just so glad that she was able to be recovered and recovered alive. >> ainsley: tell us about where she was found. found in a cabinet, covered up, i understand. answered lived in camp everywhere behind his mom's house? she lived in a double wide trailer and he lived in a camper behind the house. he was fou she was found in cabt there was an altercation with the individual. he did suffer some minor injuries. but she was recovered in good health. >> ainsley: did the mom know that the little girl was back there? >> i'm not sure at this point. you know, i hope not. if she was helping him hide that girl, then she deserves, you
