to oust speaker mccarthy. given the slim gop majority he only needed a handful of other republicans to get it done. now uncertain he reigns supreme on capitol hill. in truth, gaetz, and other republicans had legitimate complaints heard returning to regular order, passing appropriations bill, single issue bills, balanced-budget bills, limits, all fair criticism, but many of those measures could've been dealt with especially in the future especially issues that would never have been become law at this time. it came down to the fiscal issues in play here. the appropriations process for example. the question is this, and every conservative, ever republican needs to be asking this tonight was this the best strategic and tactical approach at this moment ? there were very viable alternatives, plans put togethe by freedom caucus members, people like congressman chip ro who will join us tonight.

donald's and perry, for example one plan cut spending by a whopping 8 percent and also had historic border security measures attached. but was opposed by gaetz and a few other republicans and that didn't go far. that left chip roy kind of speechless. that plan would've allowed more time needed for the appropriations bills to be passed and the second option ha a 30 percent cuts in discretionary spending and included by the way the republican party's border bill hr to which would have been a great alternative, that again would've also resulted in the full 12 appropriations bills having been voted on and hopefully passed. today the question we all have was the nuclear option needed? was it worth it? i can tell you right now i don' know. time will certainly tell whethe this is a good move or a bad move, when reality will not change, republicans have a minuscule majority, who ever this speaker is, and it's made

6:10 pm
>> first, i think it's a very sad day because i think kevin m ccarthy is one of the most talented leaders i've ever worked with. i think he accomplished an amazing amount for having a small majority and having to take on both the senate and the white house. i think this is really a tragic outcome. this is a leader who both gaine seats in 2020, gained seats in 2022, increase the number of women members, increased the number of veterans, increased the number of minority members, and he had a vision for a bette future. let's be clear here, if the university of georgia bulldogs where the number one team in th country right now, if you started a game and four of the members of the offenses squad decided they were actually on the alabama side and began tackling your own people, you would probably get them off the field. think about what we saw today? 4 percent, 4 percent decided they were so morally superior,
6:11 pm
so intellectually pure, so patriotically better, that they would side with the democrats and that's what they did. in order to defeat the entire republican house caucus, 96 percent of the republicans voted for mccarthy, 4 percent voted for my position as a longtime republican activist, they are traitors, all eight of them should be primary, they should all be driven out of public life, what they did was to go to the other team to caus total chaos. we've got to be focusing on biden, we ought to be focusing on the economy, we ought to be focusing on the border. instead you're going to get a week or ten days of the media focusing on republican disarray rate it's a astonishing behavio by people who think they are superior to 96 percent of the conference. to get i do think on kevin side
6:12 pm
let me analyze this more than anything else, it is hard to appreciate the very tiny majority that kevin mccarthy was working with. you have moderate to liberal murder republicans, 18 of them in districts that voted for joe biden carried they want to keep their jobs, so they are not going to be as conservative on lot of these issues, so it's hard to bring a small caucus like that together. it's like herding cats, you couldn't pay me to do that job. there is no amount of money i would take for that job. on the other hand, i have a little frustration with kevin to . why didn't he has promised go forward with the appropriations bills regular order, which by the way you brought back when you were speaker, that led to the first and last balanced budgets we had in decades on both ends? why did they go away for august?
6:13 pm
he knew that fight was coming. why did he go away? >> let me answer on two different levels. first of all, the house through regular order has passed 70 percent of the government in appropriations. the senate has passed zero. so kevin was on track in the next two weeks, assuming they can get around to it they would actually finish all of the appropriations, i think that wa just below knee. second, all of these 18 republicans in the biden districts, they actually voted for the two conservative continued resolutions you described earlier. they voted for them even though they were very conservative, wh killed them? the hard right, why did the har right killed them? because they were against any continuing resolution. if you didn't want the government closed, if you didn' want the military to not be paid , if you didn't want the border patrol to not be paid an the hard right says to you, i'm

not doing nothing, what are you going to do? kevin did what he had to do and what i would have done in his case. it wasn't the 18 biden district that was a problem. >> that's true. >> it was hard core hard right people. and those people need to explai why did they think this was better? they need to be held with their feet to the fire, why did they think it was better to be too solid conservative continuing resolutions. as you pointed out it includes the border it includes deep spending cuts. everything they claim they are for. you know why they did it? because ultimately matt gaetz, he hates, let's be clear he hates kevin mccarthy was determined to find a way. >> to today. i think it's disgraceful and i hope that it expelled him from the conference fred. >> i would have gone along byro donald's freedom caucus member. chip roi will be on the show tonight. freedom caucus member.

they had two separate plans the put together and you are 100 percent right, they were voted down by the conservatives that would've been the perfect bridge to number one have cuts, how border security, cuts in spending and get us to the holy grail, which was the appropriations bills that would've been completed, that t me was the answer and they went against it. i don't know why. >> consider, welcome you do kno why. the moderates you described, they all voted for these very tough very conservative bills. it was a hard right that voted against them carried people bac home want to take a look at how the member voted and asked are you just terminally stupid? do you prefer to have everythin screwed up? in terms of the eight people wh voted today with the democrats and let's be clear, they're not republicans, if i were speaker, they wouldn't be in the conference. i would say to them you prove t me that you are royal republican

6:20 pm
and move forward with their agenda? floor of the 12 appropriations bills are done, we have a cr that we didn't want, i thought chip roi, byron donald's, they put forward a plan that would'v been a lot better and put the pressure where it belongs on senate republicans, they need t have the pressure put on them and then resolved in conference that would've been a much bette way too handle it and it would've been time to get the appropriation bills finished. with those appropriation bills finished, do you believe that republicans can go back to regular order, get those bills done, cut spending, secure the border and take care of the top priorities that should be republican priorities? >> idea, we can pass all that but if the senate doesn't do anything you're inevitably goin to be in this stalemate situation they're stare down situation where at some point have to pass something. what i hope we'd be willing to do is focus on the issue front and center in the country.
6:21 pm
this is what was in the bills that we couldn't get the votes for last week. to the issue everyone knows is front and center is the border. republicans get it, independenc get it and more importantly, democrats get it. if we would've put that on the stopgap spending measure and talk about that leading up to the deadline i think we could'v won, but we couldn't get the votes for that which was what s frustrating to me i spoke time and time again in conference, everybody knows one really good issue beats 15 pretty good issues every time. pick that one could issue. here is why it's so important t come together the country is figuring out the crime problem, democrats have figured it out s let's come together in focus on that agenda as republicans. that's what i hope we do over the next week and i hope the speaker is the one that can lea on those issues and the other things we told the american people we will accomplish. >> sean: if they focus on the two issues, 2 trillion more in debt this year because of bind and spending, that has got to get under control, the borders have got to get under control,

should be completely disregarded . you go to a tax assessor and yo say my property is worth x, that's what i should pay tax on it's not going to be the fair market value it never is that fair market value anyone that's gone to a tax assessor knows that, the palm beach tax assessment department put out a statement yesterday while they were in court saying what they're saying is right. this is the tax assessed value. this is not the fair market value. you're conflating the two issue and that's been our point the whole time. >> let me ask you. i have a copy and my hands of the disclaimers that the trump organization provided to banks all read just a little of it, considerable judgment is necessary to interpret market data and develop their related estimates of current value. accordingly, the estimates presented here in are not indicative of the amounts that could be realized upon the disposition of the assets or payment of related liabilities.
