attacks on gaza levelled 159 homes and damaged others. the agency reporting refugee shelter was also hit during the strikes. entire world including the middle east or will it be different? >> carley: we were suppose to be talking to a rabbi who is in tel a aviv, but he is heading to a bomb shelter. you have been following images on social media and the crimes against humanity occurring against our number one ally in the middle east. >> i was compiling the most impactful images as trey was reporting on the ground. so much you couldn't show on air. so many americans have connections with people in israel. people were easily identified

and in most vulnerable positions, dead, wounded and stuff you could not show. people want to become contrarians and get attention on social media, the images have to stay fresh so minds don't shy away for a new opinion on the matter. >> todd: to provide context why we are having trouble getting our rabbi, he is in tel aviv and we are hearing sirens in tel aviv and jerusalem and reports of explosions being heard throughout jerusalem. this is a continuously ongoing and developing situation, we'll keep you up to date on what you are hearing, what we're hearing and learning moment by moment as it comes in.

700 plus israelis murdered in hamas attacks displayed on the bottom of the screen. the israeli ambassador to the unite nationses comparing the population of israel to united states would be 20,000 americans to put that into perspective. i was listening to reports of members of hamas just kidnapping children and leaving the parents. as a parent, you would rather die than have that happen to you. there is eye political conversation taking place about freeing up $6 billion as part of a hostage negotiation. number of hostages traded were

hezbollah, it is iran. this is the single most amount of jews slaughtered since the holocaust. there are parades cheering on this barr ian bar bearianism. the american people need to know what is happening, there is good side, bad side, pick what side you are on. this administration enfranchised i iran, whether hamas or hezbollah, coming from the largest spensor of terror, iran. it is easy to sit and sacrifice their 19 to 21 year olds and having them go after our

happened over last 48 hours. what needs to happen is restore to level never seen before. if you can just imagine having holocaust survivors being carted off, party-goers being plowed down and toddlers being taken. this is not something you can live with and israel has not a right to defend itself, but a moral obligation and i'm positive it will do so. >> todd: we did report iran called an emergency meeting for islamic cooperation, to me, that begs the question, what will response be of all the countries in the middle east?

specifically saudi arabia. the peace deal is -- i don't want to say blamed, cited for action of the last 48 hours. this seems like time to choose sides, choice between good and evil and it is interesting to see which country chooses which side. your thoughts, rabbi? >> that is the case, whether it is oslow accord, never needed to be excuse for people tow try to kill jews in israel. you have infiltrated society that breeds itself based upon hate, you will see division of the region and leaders that can look forward and the palestinians had free control of gaza since 2005.

they could have built singapore. the opportunity is there and they built hell and whatever they see today will be far worse in the upcoming days. >> carley: rabbi, it is incredible what you said, all of israel is back under israeli control, that was the first mission and looks like mission accomplished. what do the days and weeks look like ahead and is destroying hamas possible? >> that is a good question. i don't know how you destroy an ideology, you have to make the pain of becoming a murderer, which is what these people are, that is something that could be inconceivable for future generations. figure out how to change the educational system, this will be built in for 25 years.

how do we teach peoply to get along and live together peacefully instead of with hate, i believe it is possible and remain optimistic. i remain -- pardon me, choked up in the bomb shelter with my kids, i remain optimistic my kids will not have to go through this with their kids regardless where they choose to live. >> todd: we all get choked up in normal situations, this is far from a normal situation. quickly talk about how you and your family are protecting yourself now in a bomb shelter and plans for the next couple hours and days beyond that to keep your family safe. >> thank you for asking that, our family is trying to figure out how to help other families. my wife is making meals for

families called up to reserve. my kids will be babysitting for kids who do not have fathers at home right now. and for thousands of families displaced, game for kids, food and pillows and blankets. we are busy taking care of others and less concerned about ourselves, the appropriate thing to do. we have a bomb shelter, we are blessed. many are asking should we go back to america. these guys are terrorists, they are creating terror. we are not going anywhere and we're here to show our support to our allies of the people of israel. >> carley: rabbi lightstone, thank you, we are keeping you and all israelis in our prayers.

overall, how close would you have been during transit to where some of the attacks happened? >> we were in jerusalem, that is where we would have been. i'm not sure if we would have been able to get out of jerusalem, we were right there. >> todd: you told producers you got out in time thanks to god's grace. you changed your flight until tomorrow, but then as you look like at gaza city, look like we did see incoming there. you change your flight to tomorrow, but changed it back at the last minute. why did you change back to leaving on friday? >> around midweek, we were there during the tabernacle and everything was crazy.

c.o.o. our tour guide invited us to come stay with their family for a personal experience. we changed our flight to tuesday rather than friday when the rest of the group was flying back. next evening i told shea i had a bad feeling about staying and we should consider moving our flight back to friday. she thought i was just panicking about being two women in a country we had never been before. she said, let's think about it. next morning she was having the same feeling and we were approached by a pastor on the tour bus and he had concern about us staying and we took it as a sign and changed that flight back to friday with the rest of the group.
