saying now we shouldn't be funding ukraine. these same individuals will say we need to be funding israel. i fully agree with that. we still gave our word to ukraine and we have to honor that word. >> neil: senator. >> a lot we don't know and exactly where this goes next, what we know is that it set off a powder keg of protests here in midtown, manhattan where those protesting on behalf of the palestinians and those on behalf of israel are making it clear. free countries can do this sort of thing. it is we embrace it but the message it sends sometimes can confuse that world and confuse those who love freedom. they still love it and the debate still rages. here is "the five." >> hello everyone, i'm dana
2:01 pm
perino along with jeanine pirro, charlie hurt and greg gutfeld. 5:00 in new york city and this is "the five." >> president biden today confirming that hamas has killed at least 11 americans as execute hostages one by one. the latest terrifying twist as isis real goes to war with hamas. after the terror grouped launched the deadliest single day attack since the holocaust. eminent ground invasion of gaza after 'em beyond a reasonable doubting them with air strikes. the carnage starting at a music festival over the weekend. at least 1000 men, women and children have been brutally
2:02 pm
murdered by hamas. and as mentioned, hundreds have been taken captive including this gut wrenching scene of a woman being taken hostage. prime minister benjamin netanyahu ensuring his nation a couple hours ago. >> we didn't want this war, it was forced upon us in the most brutal and savage way. hamas will understand that by attacking us they've made a mistake of historic proportions. hamas bound, burned and executed children. they are savages. hamas is isis. >> and now everyone is asking the six billion dollars question. did the biden administration help fuel the terror in israel? the wall street journal reporting that iran was directly involved and worked with the terror group hamas for weeks to plan the attacks. this comes directly after the u.s. unfroze $6 billion in iranian funds. but the white house insists the money isn't going to terror. >> money is fungible. so, iran
2:03 pm
may have known this money is coming and used other funds. >> iran has unfortunately always used and focused its funds on supporting terrorism, on supporting groups like hamas. and it's done that when there is sanctions. >> that money can be refrozen at anytime. >> doesn't it seem like a good time do that? >> we won't hesitate that decision, none of that money has gone into iran yet. it is only for humanitarian purposes. >> all right. judge, you know, obviously i was away last week. i was able to see "the five" on friday. and then i think okay, i'm gearing up. monday, we are going to talk about that, internal politics, it only takes something like this to completely focus your mind on what is important. >> yeah, not only on what is important but what is really dangerous. the truth is the magnitude of this cannot be
2:04 pm
under stated. i mean, without even getting into the history of why or how the jewish people have -- there has been an attempt to e terminate them from the beginning of time, to hitler, to now, we have a group that is doing this not for military reasons but to destroy and kill jews. and we have to recognize that. that is what this is about. it's not about territory. it's about killing and erasing the jewish population. now the failure of u.s. and isreali intelligence has changed the nature of terrorism. in the first time in our country i think for the first time in history, we're seeing terrorists operating in a way that is tactical, that is organized and is orchestrated. it's no surprise iran was behind it. when you think about it, these tactical movements they went after the military, i mean they even seized the tank with
2:05 pm
an isreali commander and crew in the tank. that's like unheard of in the military. they went after children and families, house to house. they put a missile -- put a missile into tel aviv from gaza. and they are now -- they have now taken hostages. so, the fact that we didn't know this was coming, the fact that even, you know i think jake sullivan said not that long ago, gee, it's been so quiet as a secretary of -- now the secretary of state, his position of national security. >> adviser. >> he said we haven't seen something like this in decades, it's the calm before the storm. >> can i play that, judge, if you could pull this up, call for number 1 jake sullivan. >> middle east region is quieter today than it has been in two decades. now challenges remain, iran's nuclear weapons program, the tensions between isrealis
2:06 pm
and palestinians. the amount of time i have to spend on crisis and conflict in the middle east compared to any of mice predecessors going back to 9/11. >> one of the questions was, the farther we get from 9/11 the closer we are closer to september 10th. they only have to be right once. >> it is the calm before the storm that he did not recognize. and the lack of knowledge that both the united states and israel had is even more concerning because if you can't figure out how you were blindsided, then you cannot figure out how you're going to win this war. and with the enormous power of iran behind this, and now we know not from our government, but from the wall street journal, that iran gave the okay in beirut, which is run by hezbollah, let's make no mistake about that. on monday for this attack on saturday it is clear that hamas has behind
2:07 pm
this and hamas is orchestrated. i want to say a couple more things. israel abandoned gaza in 2005. hamas took over in 2007. israel allows 20,000 people a day to come from the gaza strip to israel to make a living and let them go back. israel has given gaza to the palestinians and this is what they get in exchange. and going forward i think that there has got to be a no equivocation about how israel will fight against this barbaric invasion. >> charlie, feel free to could comment on whatever you want, how was it that in the intelligence community misses it but the wall street journal in 24 hours has four sources on the record saying that, yes, iran was planning this all along. >> the most confusing part of all of this from the beginning how badly not just the -- missed
2:08 pm
this but how badly israel missed this. i'm used to the american government being totally incompetent. you don't think of isreali government being incompetent especially their security. it's a really sort of bizarre situation to find ourselves in and it makes you wonder if we still don't know all the factors that are at play and what exactly is going on here. i do think that -- i think it's -- talking about 9/11. one of the things it's most alarming to me about it, 9/11 was a bunch of half-trained pilots with box cutters and they brought the world to a halt. here you have lunatics in paragliders and machine guns who managed to pull off the biggest attack on israel in 50 years, the simplicity of it, planning, iran has, you know, fingerprints all over this and the money that went to them. and of course, you know, why do -- this is 50 years and one day
2:09 pm
after the start of the yom kippur war. why did they wait one day? they wanted to kill jews on their sabbath, that's how these people operate which tells i about all you need to know about that these people. if you were israel and living in that part of the world and you value human life you are at a tremendous disadvantage when dealing with people who have no value for human life. >> jessica, open the floor to you because i imagine you probably have friends. >> i do. >> that are there and wheeling. >> a lot of friends, one of my best friends, her family now lives in london but a bunch are still in israel, tel aviv, they are safe thankfully. but it has been nonstop tears that her mother says it is impossible to do anything but to cry when you look at what's gone on and all that they've worked for. they have spent decades creating a peaceful coexistence or what they want to be a peaceful
2:10 pm
coexistence as the palestinians, privileges coming in and out. there is a tremendous arab population within israel that is treated just as israel citizens, arab suicide bomber, the government will still take care of that family after the person detonates. that's the level of generosity that the isreali people continue to show even when the other side wants them wiped off the face of the planet and is very clear about that. to the judge and charlie's point, the intelligence failure is not only abysmal but one of the more confusing things i have ever seen. most is the best. i say that with incredible pride in the american intelligence forces. and they would even tell you, if you want something done, mosad knows and it raises the question. there is a report that came out earlier today and the isreali ambassador was on neil
2:11 pm
cavuto reached out days ago, we are hearing rumblings about something coming, surprised about how disinterested netanyahu was in that. the ambassador pushed back on that. it is an interesting thread to follow. the second piece of this, netanyahu has spent the last almost year, three quarters of a year fighting back internal protests within the country because of how he wanted to overhaul the judicial system. it's a huge problem. would completely change the way the government works in israel, every day isrealis, hugely against it and he has had to move soldiers around, put all his attention there. had he taken his eye off the ball? the wall street journal reporting, obviously hugely interesting, waiting for the u.s. and israel to confirm, right? they said we haven't been able to get there. now i don't see any reason why they wouldn't tell us that, we don't know iran is a huge sponsor of terrorism and we don't know vladimir putin is behind the cash flow going straight to hamas. i should say
2:12 pm
something about this $6 billion so, the $6 billion is not american taxpayer money, that is false. it is from oil sales, iranian oil sales to south korea. it was being held in guam. moved to a can you tar rebank account, overseen by u.s. officials, not one dollar has been moved out of that account, as john kirby said the fun can be refrozen at any moment. there is so much information on twitter, i put that on elon musk, you see eric trump posted a video of rockets, this is what happens when you give them $6 billion -- >> ' lop musk. >> the rockets was from lfo in syria from 2020, he took an old image and says this is what you get. fix the internet, but also don't blame the american government, these are non-american dollars and none of it was spent. >> greg. >> the obvious answer is nothing
2:13 pm
is ever going to be direct because money is fungible, you give me 100 bucks to buy a coat, say it's only for a coat, that means the hundred bucks in my bank account in i can spend on knives and a rope, that's how it works. pass full coexistence is really easy to undermine with a mine virus, it's about an ideology, it's not about justice real, it's about us taking our eye off the ball, we are going to talk about this topic for an hour and viewers may wonder why because we have our own challenges here, it's the same challenge. the difference in israel it it was a surprise explosion of atrocity, ours have been a slow boil coming for years. it's not hamas versus israel but we're on a road to damascus real soon. have you seen the celebrations outside? it's absolutely amazing how professional those signs are and to do that in just 24 hours, it's almost as though this was planned and that every
2:14 pm
celebration around the world knew that this was coming. so, you have an explosive of violence and a slow boil here but the origin of heat is the same. identity politics which fuels separatist conflicts which then brain washed, embraced the oppressor versus oppressed ideology. the leaders are safe, right? because they are not coming after them but you're not safe. the filter allows one group of people to attack another and god forbid you defend yourself because then what they do is they yell immediate cease fire. it's a free punch. msnbc, others said the israel occupation could be blamed for these attacks. what does that remind you of? when msnbc blamed the riots and violence on white national mobs. it's the same mindset. defending the atrocities, even cheering it, using the phrases both sides and leading for us to use nuance when talking about abduction of
2:15 pm
girls in rapes and mutilations, this is not specific to israel, this is a global mind virus and our eyes are off the ball when it comes to this. oppression filter leads to this free punch phase when the oppressed can attack you without consequence and immediately after the attack we are told by the progressive faction we must. fight back, we can hit, you can't hit them. where do you see that in free america? eliminating bail was a free punch. smash and grab is a free punch. killers murdering activists and the friends of the activist defending the murderer, free punch. burning courthouses, free punch. destroying business that is a free punch. you see this thing is endemic everywhere, excuses for hamas follows the same excuses for criminality. it's the fault of those targeted, can you take a cowardly punch against anybody
2:16 pm
because you can. there is a 40% increase in violence against women in new york city alone. but aoc first to focus on an anti racist oyster reef. in israel the punch is relentless, they are used to it, it's still awful. this weekend was a punch. for us it's a slow boil and it's coming. we have to be aware that. we are seeing this same mentality on the streets right now so don't think it's far away, it's here, it's on our streets. >> all right. more breaking news as israel gears up for eminent ground assault. trey yingst will join us for a live report next. soul of north alabama, here on our family farm. then we partner with family owned mills from maine to mississippi to manufacture our cotton into quality american made fabrics that become our heirloom inspired bedding, towels, blankets and apparel.

2:21 pm
reign bombs down, trey yingst has been on the ground and literally had to take cover multiple times. >> stay with us here. just everyone go flat. we don't have time. everyone is laying flat on the ground here, we gotta take cover. >> you hear that explosion, that's interception. >> another time they are trying to overwhelm the iron dome again, i can see them coming at the gaza strip from multiple locations. >> trey, as usual you are in the thick of things, i hope you are safe as well. what's the latest? >> trey: greg, good afternoon. right now we are seeing isreali military strike the gaza strip once again. since saturday afternoon they've started to target gaza following that
2:22 pm
bloody massacre against innocent isrealis more than 900 people were killed at the hands of palestinian militants who infiltrated into israel. tonight israel is preparing for a ground invasion of gaza. today throughout the day we saw tanks and apc's, thousands of isreali soldiers, the country's defense minister saying 300,000 reservists have been called up and showed up preparing to fight and enter gaza. all of this taking place as rocket fire continues into southern and central israel. the city's of jerusalem and tel aviv were targeted today. israel will face a multi front front opening with lebanon. >> trey, i wanted to ask you about one of the tactics it seems that of course this is modern warfare, we did see this with issue is as well, utilizing social media in order to be -- to prosecute the attack. and i was learning a little bit more today about how some of these
2:23 pm
terrorists would take the victim's phone, film what they were doing to them and then post that to their social media feeds. and you have covered many conflicts, but this seems to me a little bit of a different tactic and a terrible one. but at least it does give everyone a chance to see what this evil really looks like. >> trey: yeah, militants wanted to inflict the maximum amount of terror against the civilian population. they went into people's homes and slaughtered women and children who couldn't fight back like could you adrians. these are isis wanna be's, they took over different military bases along the border rather than count documenting an operation like a country woman, they beheaded soldiers, dragged bodies through the streets of gaza and captured people to take into tunnels beneath the gaza strip. a lot for propaganda of
2:24 pm
the group to inflict that fear into the hearts and minds of the isreali people. and they were able to do that. what they didn't understand is that by doing that they would mobilize an entire country against them and that is what is taking place today. there are hundreds of thousands who have been called up to serve in the army, those who are not serving are volunteering at hospitals, preparing for more injured people to be brought in. and even restaurant owners, they are bringing food to the gaza border to civilians, everyone is pitching in, because they understand while it has been a bloody and violent past two days this could and likely will just be the beginning of a massive ground war in the middle east. >> trey, charlie hurt here, amid all of your i can't tasking reporting, one of the most haunting details was your description of these hamas terrorists going house to house and finding families, cowering in safe rooms. if they couldn't
2:25 pm
break down the door to get to the families they would light the entire house on fire. do you have any sense how many people died that way and is that a tactic that we've ever seen before? >> trey: so, the majority of people were killed when these militants entered these communities along the border. this is a tactic that is unheard of in modern warfare, extremist way to slaughter innocent people. again, that was their way of conducting themselves in southern israel. they are still in the country holding territory according to prime minister benjamin netanyahu, they were going house to house killing as many as they could. today we got new information from one of the communities along beeri along the border, a thousand people live there, and more than a hundred bodies were covered today. 10% of their population
2:26 pm
killed at the hand of militants, these were not people on a military base, they were not engaging in a gun battle. they were women and children, and we have seen graphic graphic imagery on telegram and messaging apps, we've seen the videos and the photo the published by militants and organizations in gaza of children, four and five year olds that were killed in their homes. and they are celebrating in gaza. and it is really motivating the isreali public and soldiers we've spoken to at the border to go into gaza and as isreali prime minister benjamin netanyahu to destroy hamas. >> hey, trey, it's jesse, thank you so much for joining us and for your incredible reporting the last couple days. i'm cower use if you could shed light on what a ground war would look like. you mentioned it would spread to the wider middle east. is there expectation of boots on the ground from other nations and where do you think the coalitions will end up going,
2:27 pm
saudi backing off a little bit in terms of their support for hamas versus israel, but yeah, what do you think it's going to look like? >> trey: so, a ground war in gaza is going to be incredibly difficult. isrealis entered gaza and held territory there. and gaza is one of the most densely populated areas on earth, there are 1.9 million people that live there. it's a 25-mile strip of land, it's from 3 to 7 miles wide. and so, they are going to enter the gaza strip and they are going to be immediately engaged by hamas and islamic jihad militants along with other smaller militant factions and it will be incredibly difficult, they are fighting on their turf and fighting an urban battle that will involve rpg's, small arms fire, the continuous rocket fire into the border communities and deeper into israel. and so, that's part of what the ground war would look like on the southern front. and there will
2:28 pm
be a constant insurgency against the isreali forces if they decide to stay there for a long time. even civilians who support the cause of hamas could get involved in that fighting. now on the northern border, a ground war would be much more challenging. we have been into the hezbollah tunnels along the border between lebanon and israel, and the infrastructure there is more significant, the weaponry is more significant, i can hear the isreali air strikes continuing along the gaza strip. when it comes to lebanon, we've seen the classified intelligence, showed it to me himself, isrealis had mapped out where hezbollah keeps their precision guided missiles and rockets, all of them are chrised at israel and there are thousands of different positions. and so, the war with lebanon and the war with hezbollah is really the larger 30,000-foot view concern for israel. >> trey, jeanine piro here.
2:29 pm
hamas, and i prefer calling them terrorists, they are not militants, they indicated that they will execute one hostage for every race he will i strike. moving forward, i don't know, maybe you do, how israel will handle this and there is also a second part of this. if there is a war in the golan height the, northern border where lebanon is, do other countries then get involved? how is israel in a position to defend herself especially since i'm hearing that the iron dome is kind of -- it's kind of being stretched in terms of its strength because they are shooting missiles, missiles, some of which are duds that start to wear down the dome so. is this concerted effort again in this kind of coordinated military way that they are handling this, where israel is truly on the
2:30 pm
defensive. >> trey: yeah, this is part of the issue is that they are dealing with two separate fronts and two different groups of fighters. already today hezbollah militants tried to cross into israel and engaged in a firefight with the isrealis. so, there is an understanding that if this multi-front war erupts at the level that israel believes it could, it could drag the entire region into this fight. and when it comes to other countries' involvement part of the united states is moving an aircraft scarier closer to israel. they want to send a message to hamas, jihadists and hezbollah about laugh, israel has support of allies. that is the story developing here in southern israel. >> trey, thanks so much, be safe. israel u.ss facing a terrorist onslaught and president biden is out to lunch.

>> so apparently joe biden thinks it's appropriate to stay quiet and call a lid before noon today, which means you are not seeing joe tomorrow, maybe. the president could muster three tweets boasting how great the economy is because you didn't already realize how great the biden economy is. just in this last hour, his office put out a statement and photo of meeting martha maccallum meeting the administration and what he is up to. >> why put a lid on today? there might be multiple opportunities when he might want to come out and address something going on, you have american hostages in israel and nine americans dead, doesn't that seem odd to do on a monday. >> a lid again is a scheduled public event after the fact. but obviously lids can be lifted, lids can be changed, you know that, you have covered the white house. i don't have public events to speak to today. >> don't you worry, climate
2:36 pm
change is still the biggest threat to america. >> he said it was more frightening than a nuclear war. is that -- it's more frightening than a nuclear war in this moment? >> the president believes wholeheartedly climate change is existential threat to all life on the planet. that is science. that is fact. that doesn't mean we turn our back on other challenges facing this country and our other allies and countries around the world. israel, the last two years, we are a big enough powerful enough, effective enough nation to look at national security threats. one absolutely is climate change. >> so, obviously politicians make an art out of complicating things that don't need to be complicated. i rarely in politics seen so many catastrophes in countries and around the world can have a direct straight line from the
2:37 pm
policies of an administration to the results happening around the world. when it come to the national security, i can't help but think about, remember the 3:00 a.m. ad that i think president obama ran against hillary -- or hillary clinton ran against obama in the primary in 2008. and it basically asked, who do you want to answer that call at 3:00 a.m. who do you want to answer the phone at noon. >> i don't see why they call a lid at all. leave a little list mystery, the president is busy, doing a lot of work today. i will let you know. you don't have to call a lid. i don't understand that. just fake it. and then earlier today on news room, fake it if you don't want to come out. i told kayleigh mc mc, they will show everybody that he is working. do you remember in afghanistan, it was like the incredibly disappearing president. he didn't come out for days and he didn't say anything. did they learn nothing? at that time the public's reaction is what
2:38 pm
lowered the administration's approval numbers and they've never recovered from it. and say a prayer for these folks, people, they white house, they are given so little to work with and they still are willing to come out and john kirby comes on and willing to do it. even that has to be amazing. plus they are tweeting about trump on today, they are also trying to get as much outrage as they can against ronna mcdaniel. we want to know, mr. president, 11 americans were killed. are there any americans being held hostage. do you have this? are you on top of it. if you are on top of it we will feel better. a at the tow release is not going to cut it. >> what advice would you give him. >> i think he does better when he talks more. i know people who don't like him feels it doesn't help. democrats feel like it does. he knows about foreign policy, his area of expertise, maybe you didn't need to call the lid it was meaningful to see
2:39 pm
bb netanyahu thanking president biden and united states for our unwavering support and biden statement on saturday when he did come out right away and gave that address, which you notice, a number of democrats didn't like this, pointed out he didn't mention palestinian, he talked about israel and that we stand with israel. >> what advice would you give? is. >> i want to complain about something. you know, first of all, there is one thing when you talk about the $6 billion. let's talk about how america is with respect to this. first of all, other countries have the flag of israel flying in their embassies. we're talking about usa trail request, austria, beijing, russia, germany, france, uk, bull compare i can't. the white house was cloaked with pride flag on the white house. 11 americans died over there, we don't know how many are hostage. stop being so naive about it. the president of
2:40 pm
iran, in rahim says iran is going to spend at that $6 billion however they want to spend it, "the prisoner swap funds we are going to use it where ever we think we need it." in other words, america it's our money now. if america cares they would claw that money back right now. the third thing i want to say -- well, we already talked about how it's fungible. the third thing i want to say about this. when donald trump cut more than $200 million in aide to the palestinians in 2018, they said he is hurting the peace. he is destroying peace. well biden restored the $200 million in u.s. aide and we've just lost the peace. that's all i have to say. >> i would love to hear your advice to the biden administration. >> i don't know. one thing i do know israel is not going to take this lying down. but our president actually is. i'm sure he is napping at this point. and it's appropriate that they call a lid. this really isn't a
2:41 pm
presidency, it's a casket. remember, this guy said there was no bigger threat to our homeland than white supremacy. so, do you think that white supremacists were behind this? i don't know. our president holds, and the media, his supporters, they will more contempt more for what they consider political adversaries, trump supporters, parents that are concerned about their kids, than they do for the actual terror wrists, right? they deem those people the danger. imagine if our intel agencies had focused not on parents and catholic churches but maybe on the other stuff, these people that are on the street right now, who knows, we no longer have the luxury of a non-president, we no longer have a luxury to have a non-border. our country is one big target like the store. literally, you can come in, the stuff is free, hundreds of thousands of young men streaming, you don't know what they are doing. you know,
2:42 pm
where they are going. we're stuck with this. this is a complete abdication to basically terror. how do you know terrorists are coming over here is you don't have to know. all you have to do is prepare for it. that's all we ask. the point of a border is to keep bad people out. and you're not doing that. we're screwed. >> can i say one thing about $6 million as well. the iranian government and the palestinian government, they get a lot of aide. they choose not to spend it on their own people. they choose to spend it on weapons and building tunnels and mad today because israel cut off the electricity. why is it israel's responsibility to provide them electricity. you could do that with that money they choose not to do that. that's why the fungible point comes in. >> that's a great point. >> the 6 billion is a red herring. talking about the tens of billions that iran now makes off oil sales because the biden administration turned on the spigot, but we have to go. the squad is calling on all -- all
